Conservative Senior Editor at Large for Breitbart, Ben Shapiro was invited by Young America’s Foundation to speak at the University of California Los Angeles campus. A professor on the campus, who happens to be a Black Lives Matter activist, openly threatened Mr. Shapiro on Facebook prior to his speech:
Melina Abdullah – professor and chair of Pan-African Studies at CSULA – is a Black Lives Matter organizer. According to Lauren McCue at YAF, Abdullah took to Facebook Thursday, urging a call for action to counter Shapiro’s event. Abdullah was also recently criticized for making radical calls to #AbolishThePolice.
McCue reports that in the comments following Abdullah’s post, one person, referring to Shapiro, wrote, “‘[he] won’t be talking or lookin so nice no more’ after the event.”
She adds:
Abdullah is also spreading fabricated rumors that conservatives are threatening to bring guns to the event. Despite multiple claims of such threats, CSULA YAF and Young America’s Foundation have been unable to uncover any evidence.
The only threats with supporting evidence have come from leftists, including Professor Robert Donald Weide who challenged conservative students to a wrestling match, telling one commenter, “I lift, bro.” He also cryptically threatened to “macroaggress” campus conservatives in a bizarre message on his office door.
As Breitbart News previously reported, CSULA assistant professor Robert Weide tore down YAF flyers on a hallway bulletin board and called campus police as he accused a YAF staff member and conservative student affiliated with the CSULA chapter of making “death threats” to him.Weide – who reportedly called the student group “fascists” and “white supremacists” – claimed the group was trying to “intimidate” him. The day after he called the police on the YAF representatives, he placed a sign on his office door that read: “The best response to a micro-aggression is macro-aggression.”
True to form, BLM showed up at the event and tried to block entry to the event. Someone pulled the fire alarm. Ben Shapiro was escorted out under guard. I couldn’t find a story covering the event so far this morning.
Free speech means nothing to the radical left. It should be noted that our President recently praised a leader of Black Lives Matter in a meeting with black activist leaders in the White House.
I don’t know about you but I’ve had just about enough of the intolerance and the thuggish nature of these agitators.
This is disgusting, horrific conduct, especially from college professors, who are supposed to set an example. I had heard about the “I lift, bro” comment, which is so petty as to be funny, but this one was new to me:

This is a professor? Jesus.
The correct response to bad speech is more speech. Blocking entry or trying to sabotage the event is completely wrong. I can’t stand Ben Shapiro, and I think any group that would invite him to speak is wasting their time, and could find much more worthwhile speakers. But activists like this, in addition to being morally and legally wrong, only give him more ammo by making him an icon of Victims of Political Correctness Gone Awry.
There is a growing problem on the left of trying to shut down free speech, and it’s impossible to deny at this point.
Chris it’s been going on for a long time in a much more subtle form. When conservatives took the gentleman’s position…ignore the insult, temper your message and/or avoid confrontation…our speech was limited. We did not go where we were not welcome. The press was liberal and concentrated in three, then four, major networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN. Gentlemen had no chance to win, especially with young people.
That’s all over now and the radical left is finally seen for what it has always been, a brutal, fascistic, bunch of agitators with a “my way or the highway” mindset. They don’t honor or believe in free speech or thought.
Your party is led by and informed by some of these and they pander to the “useful idiots” who foolishly think they are being led to “freedom and justice” when in fact they are buying into authoritarian control.

WHy are conservatives always whining?
Dewey, what on earth does that comment have to do with this article? In this case, conservatives are “whining” because liberal whiners shut down private speech. In this case, the conservatives are right and the liberals are wrong. If I can see that, you should be able to as well.

However it is an affront to say we are whining when we are standing up for the rights of everyone in the face of those who attempt to silence. this is not whining and Dewey shouldn’t get away with the term…nor should you.
This is what the left always does…change the narrative to make those who are being reasonable seem unreasonable. It’s sick and it needs to end.
The quotation marks around the word “whining” connote sarcasm, Tina; I don’t think it’s whining for conservatives to criticize those who shut down Shapiro’s speech.

Interesting to see Shapiro so critical of Trump, when Breitbart has published so many pro-Trump articles. I think he’s playing both sides.
The “Black Lives Matter” movement is an ugly political fraud.
