YouGov/Economist Poll a Shocker – Bernie and Hillary Supporters Racist

Posted by Tina

I put this up for the conservatives on this sight. I admit it’s for our own amusement. So go ahead and chuckle…we knew this all along:

when USA Today’s David Mastio looked into the same polling data, he found that you could just as easily accuse everyone — including Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders supporters — of being racist, because the data had been sliced so finely.

In fact, when Mastio started cutting the results the same way Vavreck had done, he found such fun “facts” as:

– Almost a third of African Americans either opposed Lincoln’s emancipation proclamation or “were not sure what they thought.”

– 15% of Hispanics opposed it, and a quarter said they weren’t sure.

– Almost a third of African Americans backed FDR’s decision to round up Japanese-Americans and put them in internment camps during World War II.

After Mastio pointed these ludicrous findings out, Vavreck grudgingly expanded her analysis to compare both Republican and Democratic supporters on these tolerance measures — something that she didn’t bother to do initially.

And guess what she found? Those backing Clinton and Sanders were far more likely to oppose freeing the slaves than were Rubio supporters. They were also more likely to approve of FDR’s Japanese internment. In fact, almost 25% of Clinton supporters backed FDR’s racist policy, compared with just 10% of Rubio supporters.

Both Mastio and Vavreck seem to agree this means “nothing.” I agree that polls often tell us “nothing” but I have to say what I’ve said all along. People are people. We are all capable of holding prejudices just as much as we are all prone to seeing issues from different points of view and finding exceptions to rules. This story is amusing because liberals have been pretending they are perfect, while we, those horrible rotten “others” are the racists. It’s a completely false narrative. Liberals are such liars…complete frauds. Pony as he77!

Holding them is one thing. (Nobody’s claiming saintliness that I’m hearing about. Hil and Bern both spent the last couple days apologizing for some hideously short-sighted piece of crime legislation back in 1994.)

Acting on them, proposing to make them policy is another. Now, which candidate for which party … right here and right now … is proposing the internment and deportation of Muslims?

  2. Tina says:

Nobody is proposing internment. We propose keeping Gitmo open so that the terrorist enemy combatants are nonchalantly released so they can go home to entice young men into the terrorist life. Only an ignorant fool would release dangerous murdering terrorists to kill again.

Deportation? Absolutely for cause. How about supporting a pause in allowing them into the country until we are better at vetting them? That just makes sense when we are under attack.

Your ignorant criticism is based on airy fairy ideas about humans all being “basically good.” People are not basically good, they are capable of both good and evil and when some of us form a group to wage war on others we have a right to defend ourselves. It is unfortunate for peaceful Muslims that a group of Muslims has made this choice and is waging war as a cowardly non-state enemy identifiable only by their shared extremist ideology, but that is the reality we face.

The actions in question are not without precedent:

The internment of German Americans refers to the detention of German nationals and German-American citizens in the United States during the periods of World War I and of World War II. During World War II, the legal basis for internment was under Presidential Proclamation 2526, made by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt under the authority of the Alien and Sedition Acts.[1]

With the US entry into war, German nationals were automatically classified as “enemy aliens”, as is common practice among nations at war.[citation needed]

At the time of WWII, the United States had a large population of ethnic Germans. In 1940 more than 1.2 million persons had been born in Germany, 5 million had two native-German parents, and 6 million had one native-German parent.[citation needed] Many more had distant German ancestry. During WWII, the United States detained at least 11,000 ethnic Germans, overwhelmingly German nationals.[2] The government examined the cases of German nationals individually, and detained relatively few in internment camps run by the Department of Justice, as related to its responsibilities under the Alien and Sedition Acts. To a much lesser extent, some ethnic German US citizens were classified as suspect after due process and also detained. Similarly, a small proportion of Italian nationals and Italian Americans were interned in relation to their total population in the US. The United States had allowed immigrants from both Germany and Italy to become naturalized citizens, which many had done by then. In the early 21st century, Congress considered legislation to study treatment of European Americans during WWII, but it did not pass the House of Representatives. Activists and historians have identified certain injustices against these groups.

Making war against others has consequences and not all of it can be helped or avoided. Unpleasant as they may be they are also necessary. Adults know the reality and face it head on. Liberals are like children wanting mommy to kiss it all away. But appeasement and avoidance only create more killing and chaos that lasts a much longer time. You’ll never see the anti-war movements responsibility in creating the conditions for the killing fields in Cambodia but you did and millions were slaughtered while still others were put in chains.

Tell me Libby, which President has, through his feckless leadership and appeasement, is responsible for the mess in the ME? Who exactly facilitated the rise, growth, and spread of ISIS terrorists, created chaos in several nations including Iraq, created the refugee crisis in Europe, created the slaughter of Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Yazidis, and facilitated Iran as an enemy power player in the region.

Lord you are blind or simply unwilling to face the truth.

  3. Libby says:

I’m seeing all manner of obfuscation, blame shifting and subject changing, but no denial.

Why don’t you just answer the question?

“Trump.” “Republican.” “And if he gets the nomination, I’ll vote for him.”

    Pitiful.

  4. Tina says:

Libby I said at the outset I would vote for the republican candidate no matter who it is. Keep up…or shut up! Go ahead and drag your own pitiful self to the polls to vote for a criminal or socialist old white guy…we know you will and who cares. So what if you end up throwing more people into poverty in the process and destroying all kinds of opportunity and jobs for those kids educated for “free?” At least your ignornat dreams of Nirvana will be intact.

Tina you wear rose colored glasses when it comes to politics.

I will not pledge to any party. That is plain stupid. This is not a game.

You spin and twist facts yet claim to care about the Constitution.

      Socialist old white guy?

What does being white have to do with anything? Is Trump white? Trump is an authoritarian fascist.

It shows you care nothing about this country just the Republican Brand.

You are living off a socialist paycheck and healthcare. That is hypocrisy.

As long as you have yours right?
