New developments in the Michigan water situation points to years of neglect, bad choices, and a failure to take necessary steps and precautions. Three government officials have been criminal charged, one at the state level and two at the city level. State Attorney General Bill Schuette said there will likely be more charges stating this was just “the beginning.” CNN on the charges and the accused:
Busch, a district water supervisor for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and Prysby, a district water engineer, each face six charges.
Accusations include misleading federal regulatory officials, manipulating water sampling and tampering with reports.
Glasgow, a former laboratory and water quality supervisor who now serves as the city’s utilities administrator, is accused of tampering with a lead report. He is charged with tampering with evidence, a felony, and willful neglect of duty, a misdemeanor.
Long before the water problem developed the seeds of disaster were sewn in Flint Michigan’s local government. Poor management of public funds, neglect of the cities infrastructure, and costly employee pensions that put unreasonable demands on the budget all contributed to conditions that underlay the bad decisions made by public officials.
In one way or another there are probably thousands of Flint Michigans in the making across America. Let’s hope this acts as a wake up call, refocusing priorities.
I am from the government and I am here to help you.
Isn’t that the truth!
They are the scapegoats and you know it.
Republican governor, Rick Snyder, nullified the free elections in Flint, deposed the mayor and city council, then appointed his own dictator to run the city.
To save money they switched the supply to make the public drink from the toxic Flint River.
When the governor’s office discovered just how toxic the water was, they decided to keep quiet about it and covered up the extent of the damage being done to Flint’s residents.
While the Children in Flint Were Given Poisoned Water to Drink, General Motors Was Given a Special Hookup to the Clean Water.
Federal law requires that water systems which are sent through lead pipes must contain an additive that seals the lead into the pipe. Governor aid it was too much at $100 day for 3 months.
During these two years of water contamination, residents in Flint have had to contend with a decision made by the Pentagon to use Flint for target practice. Yes they were also getting contaminants from live ammo and explosives! Army troops pretended Flint was Baghdad.
Governor’s Chief of Staff Is a Spokeswoman for Nestle, Michigan’s Largest Owner of Private Water Reserves. Follow that Money! Nestle has been repeatedly sued in northern Michigan for the 200 gallons of fresh water per minute it sucks from out of the ground and bottles for sale as their Ice Mountain brand of bottled spring water.
“Detroit Water” — It’s the Largest Source of Fresh Drinking Water in the World.
It’s great to be poor or Black in A Tea Party State!
The Gov is a real hero! Long Live the Tea Party profits!
Correction, the party in question would be the democrats, the Tea party had nothing to do with the plumbing.
Republican Rick Snyder had nothing to do with decades of democrat rule at the local level where all of these troubles, including the bloated pension problems that added to the budget problems that helped to create this mess, began.
Tea Parties also don’t have profits. When they aren’t being mistreated by the IRS, they are nonprofit organizations no different that the thousands upon thousands in existence that openly advocate and organize for democrats. George Soros covertly funds many of them. Hey Dewey, you want to look for corruption you can start there!
