   No they were not protesting police officers, they were protesting unwarranted killings by police officers … and they have a valid complaint.

   As to the segregating of journalists, they were making a point, that you would get if you tried, but you won’t try.

   Scroll down in that story and you’ll find the assertion was provided by the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement which, “has a history of organizing campaigns against police brutality and state repression in black and brown communities.”

   WaPo Courant:

   In 2015, The Washington Post launched a real-time database to track fatal police shootings, and the project continues this year. As of Sunday, 1,502 people have been shot and killed by on-duty police officers since Jan. 1, 2015. Of them, 732 were white, and 381 were black (and 382 were of another or unknown race).

   And although the number of deaths of blacks as a percentage of their population finds a disparity it only has significance if blacks are not committing more crime. The police respond to criminal activity. The Department of Justice reports blacks accounted for 52.5% of homicide offenders from 1980 to 2008 and with whites 45.3%. Given that blacks are represented as just over 13% of the population that’s quite a disparity.

   Lots of good information here, for instance:

Blacks attack whites almost as often as they attack blacks, and Hispanics attack whites more often than they attack any other group, including their own. (Seems like whites have reason to be a bit angry)

   …There is much media agonizing over black-on-black violence (including PS), but these figures show that only 40.1 percent of the victims of black violence are black, while people of other races account for nearly 60 percent of the victims of black violence.

   An article in NYT City Journal about stop and frisk laws notes:

   …while a large percentage of the stops involved blacks, an even larger percentage of violent crimes involved suspects described as black by their victims.”

   If it were true that racial discrimination by white police officers contributes to the high arrest rate of blacks, it would logically follow that the arrest-related decisions of black officers should differ significantly from those of their white colleagues; i.e., one would expect black officers to arrest blacks a lower rate than do white officers. There is no evidence of such a difference, however. Black and white officers have very similar arrest patterns.[3]

   The reality is much the same vis à vis the issue of police brutality, which the vast majority of blacks in the U.S. consider more likely to be directed at them than at whites. There is a considerable body of empirical evidence suggesting that black suspects are treated no worse than white suspects—when their demeanors toward the police are similar and their crimes are equivalent.[4] Research further shows that both white and black police officers are more likely to use excessive force against antagonists of their own race than against those of another race.[5] Black officers as a group, for instance, are more likely than their white colleagues to shoot black suspects. While this may be partly because black officers more frequently patrol black neighborhoods, black and white officers who work only in black neighborhoods are equally likely to shoot black civilians.[6]

   After an arrest is made, the next decision points in the criminal-justice process are: whether or not to convict a defendant, and then, whether to impose a harsh or mild sentence. The left contends that because of racism, white defendants are not only acquitted more regularly than their black counterparts, but are treated more leniently even in cases where they are found guilty. Such disparate treatment, says the left, explains why, as of December 31, 2010, blacks (12.6% of the U.S. population) constituted fully 37.9% of all prisoners under state and federal jurisdiction—whereas non-Hispanic whites, (64% of the population) were just 32.2% of prisoners, and Hispanics (16% of the population) were 22.3% of prisoners. While black males were incarcerated at a rate of 3,074 per 100,000, the corresponding rates for white and Hispanic males were 459 and 1,258 per 100,000, respectively.

   The question of whether the trial and sentencing stages of the justice system are plagued by racism has been studied extensively for several decades. As early as 1983, the Panel on Sentencing Research, which was established by the liberal-leaning National Academy of Sciences (NAS) on request of the U.S. Justice Department, reviewed more than 70 studies on sentencing patterns and concluded: “Our overall assessment of the available research suggests that factors other than racial discrimination in the sentencing process account for most of the disproportionate representation of black males in U.S. prisons …”

   …Even though America’s legal-education and civil-rights establishments have created a massive industry devoted entirely to uncovering even the barest shred of evidence pointing toward white racism in the justice system, the net result of their efforts has been nothing more than an occasional study showing a miniscule, unexplained racial disparity in sentencing, while most other analyses continue to find no racial effect at all. (emphasis mine)

   Nothing of value can come of this until the left stops using it as a bludgeon to politically buy votes. Nothing positive will happen until the left media starts doing its job instead of carrying water for left politics. And nothing positive can happen until the black communities look honestly at the problems that plague their communities and address those problems. I doubt if anything will alter how black militants view the world…they seem to enjoy the black power-over-others attitude and victim role.

   There is no valid point to discrimination. A half a century has passed…much has been done to make amends. It is time to get over it. It is time to get on with life and and to stop making up reasons to be angry and militant!

   It was a slow news day and the Leftie media presstitutes jumped on the BLM “protests” like white on rice. (metaphor intended)
   BLM was based on a lie to start with (Hands Up, Don’t Shoot) and they’ve continued in true Occupy fashion.
   Oddly enough, they’ve done more to hurt race relations than they’ve gained and have truly become Black LIES Matter.
