The governor of Louisiana was a bit of a scold when Donald Trump decided to visit the flooded areas to offer support and help: “We welcome him to Louisiana, but not for a photo-op. Instead we hope he’ll consider volunteering or making a sizable donation to the LA Flood Relief Fund to help the victims of the storm.”
Today he’s not quite so snarky. In fact he’s grateful that Trump brought attention to the plight of his state:
Pride can go down a bit hard…good for him.
Re-defines the meaning of “water hazard. . . .”
Obumble’s comments about Bush “being late getting to Louisiana” after Katrina have returned to bite him in the tush.
The Governor of Louisiana was dead on. They’re going door to door for dead bodies. Securing Trump’s entourage is way, way, way down on the list.
And did he do anything more than make specious observations and get his picture taken?
Phony phony complaint, Libby. YOU were among those who excoriated Bush for waiting to visit during Katrina.
You also parroted liberal lies about what he had and had not done and failed to mention (or notice) the failures of the mayor and governor (both Democrat).
The O-man and Hillery have better things to do and everybody knows it: golf, parties, Billy’s B-day bash, schmoozing with the rich and famous, and collecting gobs and gobs of cash. Oh yeah, and in Hillary’s case a lot of resting.
If the O-man’s FEMA guy had locked 48,000 people into a stadium without food or working toilets for three days, I guarantee you, I’d be making noise about it.
It’s very sad for you, I know, but the O-man’s government works. Louisiana is getting everything it needs to cope … and a blustering bozo is not on the list.
Libs, Use your head woman. The local and state gov’ts were responsible to get their people out of Katrina’s path and to safe ground BEFORE she hit land not the federal gov’t.
Mayor Ragin and governor Blanco failed to do so as advised until the day before, when they had at least 4 days warning beforehand. They were told to use city and school busses to transport their people that didn’t have their own cars and they chose to do nothing.
Bush contact Blanco before to offer his help and she didn’t request then or later in written form for help with the evacuation because she believed the local mayors were getting the people out.
So, put blame where blame is due and not on those not responsible. The huge problems that occurred after were in part the fed’s fault, but many of those problems would not have been a factor if the evacuation had taken place by the mayors. And those 48,000 people would NOT have ended up locked in the Super Dome without food and water.
Who’s to Blame for Delayed Response to Katrina?
“In New Orleans, those in peril and those in power have pointed the finger squarely at the federal government for the delayed relief effort.
But experts say when natural disasters strike, it is the primary responsibility of state and local governments — not the federal government — to respond.
New Orleans’ own comprehensive emergency plan raises the specter of “having large numbers of people … stranded” and promises “the city … will utilize all available resources to quickly and safely evacuate threatened areas.”
“Special arrangements will be made to evacuate persons unable to transport themselves,” the plan states.
When Hurricane Katrina hit, however, that plan was not followed completely.
Instead of sending city buses to evacuate those who could not make it out on their own, people in New Orleans were told to go to the Superdome and the Convention Center, where no one provided sufficient sustenance or security.
‘Lives Would Have Been Saved’
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said “80 percent” of the city was evacuated before the storm hit, but Bob Williams says that’s not good enough.
Williams dealt with emergency response issues as a state representative in Washington when his district was forced to deal with the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980.
“If the plan were implemented, lives would have been saved,” Williams said.
There’s no question the federal government plays a major role in disaster relief. But federal officials say in order to get involved, they must first be asked to do so by state officials.
As one FEMA official told ABC News, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco failed to submit a request for help in a timely manner.
Shortly before Katrina hit, she sent President Bush a request asking for shelter and provisions, but didn’t specifically ask for help with evacuations. One aide to the governor told ABC News today Blanco thought city officials were taking care of the evacuation.”

And in case you didn’t read about the charges filled against Ragin for corruption during the rebuilding of New Orleans on one of your liberal rags let me be the first to share what your wonderful democrat mayor got caught doing.
Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin charged with Katrina-related corruption:
“NEW ORLEANS — Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted Friday on charges that he used his office for personal gain, accepting payoffs, free trips and gratuities from contractors while the city was struggling to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
The charges against Nagin are the outgrowth of a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen and a prison sentence for a former city vendor.
The federal indictment accuses Nagin of accepting more than $160,000 in bribes and truckloads of free granite for his family business in exchange for promoting the interests of a local businessman who secured millions of dollars in city contract work after the 2005 hurricane. The businessman, Frank Fradella, pleaded guilty in June to bribery conspiracy and securities-fraud charges and has been cooperating with federal authorities.”

“If the O-man’s FEMA guy had locked 48,000 people into a stadium without food or working toilets for three days…”
That’s a lie!
But which is it Libby? Bush didn’t send help or he did?
In any case most of the stadium stories are rumors and lies! told in the chaos of the storm and it’s aftermath by an out of control media frenzy.
A city and state totally unprepared, terrible leadership in the mayors and governors offices, and the levee situation (Not Bush’s doing) made Katrina a horrendous disaster.
The partisan (UGLY LIBBY…Shamefully UGLY) rumors and hype, fed and fueled by irresponsible reporters, including that nut Heraldo Rivera on FOX, made a bad situation worse.
President Bush could not send help unless the governor asked for it. She (democrat) didn’t…not for several days! How stupid is that?
In the mean time help was sent from all over America for those poor people.
The people in Louisiana are doing well today because they, black and white, organized and helped each other! Obama had nothing to do with it and to the extent he does going forward, it will be no more than what was done under Bush.
I read Libby’s O-man, AKA BIG ZERO was heading to Louisiana,
I guess one of the golf courses must now be playable.
