(the following is in part a summation based off an article found in American Spectator)
It is easy to be cynical about politics. As the saying goes, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. This is a truism since the first day government was invented. I think we can also agree that today, neither party, “dims” or reps, has a monopoly on virtue. But, absent positive action by the governed (voters), cynicism is falls short of wisdom. Its up to us to move beyond that common form of cynicism and do what needs to be done. We need to make them (our representatives) 100% accountable and not be content to sit back and gripe. Accountability took the form of one Donald Trump this year and this should get the attention of the status quo politician.
Voters were fed up with the direction this nation was heading. Debt is piling up, American jobs were being outsourced and then there was the “systemic flouting of the law by Democrats, from elected and appointed officials to unionized bureaucrats, who have targeted ordinary citizens because they are political opponents, riding rough shod over our rights to free speech, assembly, freedom of the press and equal application of the law” and they have embraced bribery and corruption as a matter of course. The casual voter would now ask, could this really be true? Well, all anyone needs to do is read the facts. Look up the growing list of politicians convicted of criminal abuse while in office and you will find the big (D) after most of their names.
It’s safe to say, there has not been abuse of power on this scale in this baby boomer’s lifetime and that is why the people had to turn to an outsider like Trump. This is beyond the ordinary, and ordinary cynicism will not suffice. The problem is far larger than the Oval office, and will extend past this presidency unless there is significant government reform.
But, don’t look to the democrats to have much enthusiasm for reforming, to do so would be cutting their force by half or more. It’s going to be up to honest people in the republican party and the outsiders like Trump. It’s up to us to back them up, and by that I mean, write them and encourage them. Let’s meet those protesters on the street with bigger counter-protests and don’t back off. We should never give ground to the criminals again, this is our country, our founding principles, our Constitution and it does not belong to the rabble on the far left looking to undermine every ideal of democracy. So, please don’t settle for cynicism… lets get active and fight back. It’s time to be a patriot again.
DITTO!
“…“systemic flouting of the law by Democrats, from elected and appointed officials to unionized bureaucrats, who have targeted ordinary citizens because they are political opponents, riding rough shod over our rights to free speech, assembly, freedom of the press and equal application of the law” and they have embraced bribery and corruption as a matter of course.”
I’m sorry, but this is all just so much paranoid BS. Every single time I ask you for an example, you got bumpkiss. Somebody trying to shut down this blog? Has the Tea Party been banned from the Denny’s? And NOBODY is embracing bribery and corruption as a matter of course.
What on earth make you embrace this horsepucky? Seriously? What?
You pissed because people have worldviews other than yours that they will not abandon? If you can’t live with it, curb your wild paranoia … you are no American. (Well, you’re an American who badly needs the attention of mental health professionals.)
You’re heavily into quotation these days. Remember this one: “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” And why has The Orange One just popped into my head? … in all his outrageous orangeness.
Lord you are tiresome, Libby. We’ve written about every abuse of power for eight years…but once again, let me spell it out:
Jack: “…appointed officials to unionized bureaucrats, who have targeted ordinary citizens because they are political opponents…”
That would be Lois Lerner targeting over 300 republican/conservative citizens denying them nonprofit status through a series of harrassing demands and delays and targeting one in collusion with the Justice Department, OSHA, and the ATF.
The raid on Gibson Guitars is another example. Their “crime” was committed by their competitor too but they didn’t vote republican.
“…riding rough shod over our rights to free speech, assembly…”
The tactic of targeting right wing speakers on college campuses to prevent their messages from being heard has been going on for some time. Banning support of Trump expressions on campus …chalking his name on stairs, for instance. Disrupting Tea Party events. Blocking Trump supporters from attending events. The entire PC culture is about intolerance of differing opinion!
That’s more than enough “bumpkiss” to satisfy even the feeblest of minds! But you still won’t get it. You lost, in part, BECAUSE you refuse to get it and instead you call us names, dismiss our concerns, try to block our participation, and totally buy your own BS (See Reagan mythology in the other thread).
I’d sooner be a patriot than a traitor…”fundamental transformation” is a traitorous assault on our nation.
And get this…orange is the new black!
“That would be Lois Lerner targeting over 300 republican/conservative citizens denying them nonprofit status….”
If she had done that, which she had not. This is just more of your absurd persecution complex. If there is a way for a Republican to subvert government regulations for their own profit … they will find it. These applications were largely fraudulent, and were denied for good cause … you can accept the fact or not … it’s still a fact.
Sure Libby, that’s why the woman hired a lawyer, pleaded the fifth (After giving a statement which is a no no), and promptly resigned (with benefits) before she could be investigated! It’s also why her emails were “lost” even though she had a sworn responsibility to archive her records. It’s why she apologized to a room full of lawyers in 2013 “for the IRS’s inappropriate targeting of conservative political groups.”:
Human Events:
Free Beacon:
House Oversight:
Americans for Tax Relief, “Lois Lerner’s IRS Granted Only ONE Conservative Group Non-Profit Status in Three Years”
Gateway Pundit:
Congress can hold hearings but it’s up to the AG to bring charges. The Justice Department under Obama is corrupt. There was never a chance for a serious investigation or trial.
Your assessment of what happened is pure fiction…fake news, if you will. Your party and it’s media arm are seriously corrupted
By merely winning the election Trump has single handedly destroyed the Clinton crime family. At last they have been tossed onto the ash heap of history and will no longer be able to enrich themselves by selling political influence. I find that particularly satisfying.
I wish Hillary would brought to justice via and convene a grand jury or appoint special prosecutor, but I don’t think he will.
“She [Hillary] had created a crime syndicate. There is no doubt about it. Pay for play bribery. She had lied to the FBI 27 times that she didn’t know what was going on. She couldn’t open her mouth about the email servers without lying, and so she was really a criminal, and so I thought that’s the indicative. And that’s aside Bengahzi and the mess in the Middle East and [the Russian] reset. A dismal record.” Victor Davis Hanson – The Mythologies of the 2016 Election
There’s still hope, Pie.

Looking forward to RICO charges against the Bubba foundation, which would remove their toys, buildings and $$ if convicted. Actions DO have consequences!
Never heard of Stream.org but for what it’s worth…
It shouldn’t be a high priority for the president but it definitely should be a priority for law enforcement. Equality under the law demands it!
A former coworker of mine just posted this on FaceBook. It is disgusting and a heads up to what the Alt-Left is already working on. They will destroy this country to win at any cost.
It’s right out of Alinsky’s Rules for Radical and Bill Ayers’ guide to overthrow the gov’t.
Hang on people we’re in for a very dirty fight again.

Indivisible: A Practical Guide for Resisting the Trump Agenda:
Former congressional staffers reveal best practices for making Congress listen
Donald Trump is the biggest popular vote loser in history to ever to call himself President-Elect. In spite of the fact that he has no mandate, he will attempt to use his congressional majority to reshape America in his own racist, authoritarian, and corrupt image. If progressives are going to stop this, we must stand indivisibly opposed to Trump and the members of Congress who would do his bidding. Together, we have the power to resist – and we have the power to win.
We know this because we’ve seen it before. The authors of this guide are former congressional staffers who witnessed the rise of the Tea Party. We saw these activists take on a popular president with a mandate for change and a supermajority in Congress. We saw them organize locally and convince their own members of Congress to reject President Obama’s agenda. Their ideas were wrong, cruel, and tinged with racism – and they won.
We believe that protecting our values and neighbors will require mounting a similar resistance to the Trump agenda — but a resistance built on the values of inclusion, tolerance, and fairness. Trump is not popular. He does not have a mandate. He does not have large congressional margins. If a small minority in the Tea Party can stop President Barack Obama, then we the majority can stop a petty tyrant named Trump.
Who is this document by and for?
We: Are former progressive congressional staffers who saw the Tea Party beat back President Obama’s agenda.
We: See the enthusiasm to fight the Trump agenda and want to share insider info on how best to influence Congress to do that.
You: Want to do your part to beat back the Trump agenda and understand that will require more than calls & petitions.
You: Should use this guide, share it, amend it, make it your own, and get to work.
To this end, the following chapters offer a step-by-step guide for individuals, groups, and organizations looking to replicate the Tea Party’s success in getting Congress to listen to a small, vocal, dedicated group of constituents. The guide is intended to be equally useful for stiffening Democratic spines and weakening pro-Trump Republican resolve.”

Peggy, we knew that they would do this. But we are better prepared than ever to counter their evil tactics and fake news.
Why are you calling perfectly legitimate political organizing “evil”?
Is everything you disagree with “evil”?
That’s kind of a bad attitude, don’t you think?
From you the question is rich indeed!
There is so much evidence to show that the radicals in control of your party do not engage in the spirit of true competition that our nation has revered for generations. Instead they studied the mafia, dictators, and others of miserable character (Soros, Alinsky) and means. The manual alone, Rules for Radicals, spells out the devious means to the end you desire…control…fundamental transformation…nirvana!
Anyone who loves freedom and honest competition would find these tactics and attitudes evil.
When it comes to ideas you cannot compete, not in a free republic. You do not like freedom or the republic. and that is why you turn to deception and deviousness.
The answer would seem to be “yes” … that which you disagree with is evil.
This attitude is not only bad, it is unAmerican. If you cannot muster the intestinal fortitude to tolerate worldviews other than your own, the republic is toast.
This guy is going away for a very long time. Hope he likes wearing orange.
Also, aren’t the charges for the same thing Hillary has been accused of?
Rep. Chaka Fattah found guilty on federal corruption charges:
“A Philadelphia jury delivered a guilty verdict on Tuesday for Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.), who was convicted on 29 separate federal charges related to bribery, money laundering, fraud and racketeering.
Fattah, 59, who lost his primary bid in April, gave no indication he planned to resign from his seat in Congress.
He faces the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison following Tuesday’s conviction. Several of the charges he was convicted on carry sentences of 20 years each.
“Today’s decision notwithstanding, it has been my privilege to serve the constituents of the Second Congressional District for over 20 years,” Fattah said in a statement released hours after the verdict.”

” I am quite keen to see how this plays out…”
Yeah, me too.

Me three!
I love this comparison:
The only thing I have to add is that as people retire they may not be replaced…smaller government by attrition. I wonder how many old sixties generation zealots will just quietly go away?
