Investigations into a deadly subway bombing are underway in in St. Petersburg, Russia. At least ten people lost their lives and fifty were injured. A second bomb, disguised as a fire extinguisher failed to detonate. Police are looking for two men they believe planted the destructive nail bombs:
Several Russian media outlets have released the CCTV picture of the bearded suspect who was wearing a long, black top and a hat blamed for causing the carnage by detonating a bomb that was packed with shrapnel. …
…Nobody has claimed responsibility for the explosion, but previous attacks on Russia have been blamed on ISIS and Chechens.
A search warrant has now been issued for two people in connection with the attack – one for planting the bomb which detonated at Sennaya Ploshchad and the other for leaving an explosive device at Ploshchad Revolutsii station.
This follows the assault by speeding vehicle in England last month. It also is consistant with the intent of ISIS and Al Qaeda terrorists who promise deadly attacks across the globe.
Vocativ reports ISIS is celebrating:
“We ask Allah to bless the operation by the lions of the Caliphate, we ask Allah to kill the Crusaders,” said an ISIS supporter from the terror group’s al-Minbar online forum. Others celebrated by saying that the Monday bombs made for “a metro to hell for the worshipers of the Cross” and claimed that the attacks — which are still under investigation by Russian authorities — were revenge for Russia’s backing of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s fight against ISIS and other rebel groups in Syria’s civil war. Russian airstrikes and shelling in Syria have killed hundreds of people and reduced entire areas to rubble.
President Trump met with Egypts president Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi this morning. Egypt has been an ally of the US in the region, although President Obama never hosted the Egyptian president. Trump told Sissi they would fight Islamic terror and the Muslim Brotherhood together:
U.S. President Donald Trump moved to reset U.S. relations with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday after the prior Obama administration’s strained ties, giving him firm backing and vowing to work together to fight Islamic militants.
“I just want to let everybody know in case there was any doubt that we are very much behind President Sisi. He’s done a fantastic job in a very difficult situation. We are very much behind Egypt and the people of Egypt,” Trump said in an Oval Office meeting with the Egyptian leader.
At the same time senior advisor Jared Kushner and U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford flew to Iraq to assess the situation in Iraq first hand:
The trip begins against a backdrop of an ongoing investigation into civilian deaths in an area of Mosul near the site of an air-strike by U.S.-led coalition forces last month.
“Gen. Dunford invited Mr. Kushner and Mr. Bossert to meet with Iraqi leaders, senior U.S. advisors, and visit with U.S. forces in the field to receive an update on the status of the counter-ISIS (an acronym for the Islamic State group) campaign in Iraq and Syria,” Hicks said. The spokesman added that Kushner was “traveling on behalf of the president to express the president’s support and commitment to the Government of Iraq and U.S. personnel currently engaged in the campaign.”
Trump wastes no time. I suspect the appearance of chaos has our friends on the left feeling much more confident than they should. Once the smoke clears we will see that more is accomplished under a President who does more than play at being president.
