Liang Zhao Zhang’s job is to clean up BART stations in downtown San Francisco and clean up he does: He swept in $162,000 in overtime pay last year, records show.
Call Zhang the super janitor, an extraordinarily high earner in a field where the beloved school custodian rarely brings home more than $50,000 a year.
Zhang grossed $235,000 in 2015, four times more than his base pay as a janitor. Benefits brought his total cost of employment at the rail agency to more than $270,000. And records show this isn’t the first time he raked in six-figure compensation at BART. Zhang received a combined $682,000 in pay and benefits over the last three years.
Next: Hundreds of New York City public school teachers accused of offenses ranging from insubordination to sexual misconduct are being paid their full salaries to sit around all day playing Scrabble, surfing the Internet or just staring at the wall, if that’s what they want to do.
Because their union contract makes it extremely difficult to fire them, the teachers have been banished by the school system to its “rubber rooms” — off-campus office space where they wait months, even years, for their disciplinary hearings.
The 700 or so teachers can practice yoga, work on their novels, paint portraits of their colleagues — pretty much anything but school work. They have summer vacation just like their classroom colleagues and enjoy weekends and holidays through the school year.
“You just basically sit there for eight hours,” said Orlando Ramos, who spent seven months in a rubber room, officially known as a temporary reassignment center, in 2004-05. “I saw several near-fights. `This is my seat.’ `I’ve been sitting here for six months.’ That sort of thing.”
Poor management
Overtime is very expensive. Question is why did they not hire more people? Their business model is wrong but was created to allow this to occur. Do not blame a smart worker.
The SF Gate story is here, …………..

Also
“A police officer with a base pay of $96,000 grossed an additional $170,000 in overtime money, for example, while an elevator and escalator worker making $77,100 earned an extra $140,000.”
Again Poor Management and it is cheaper to hire more workers/ make Overtime by approval only in rare instances. Fact is they need to balance the workforce and better management.
Captain Jack,
Speaking of tax dollars at work, our state is one step closer to officially declaring itself a sanctuary state:
‘The California Senate on Monday passed a controversial “sanctuary state” bill that bars local and state law enforcement from using their resources to help federal immigration enforcement.’
Also, the huge tax increases on fuels and vehicles also advanced in the legislature.
And this is just the beginning, Jack, and you know it. You know this state is going to get much worse.
At least there is someone trying to do something about the old Brown buzzard and the rest of the Demorats tax increases.

Nothing will change at the VA until employees are able to get fired for cause.
This has been going on for a long time here in Chico. The income for a firefighter can be over $300K a year.

The old Brown buzzard is circling the poor taxpayers….just waiting to descend on a carcass after the Demorats finish it off…the old Brown buzzard will pick the last of your tissue off your bones…you can count on it.
“With only a day left until the scheduled vote for a massive transportation funding (a.ka. massive tax hikes) deal, Gov. Jerry Brown held court with Assembly Democrats on Wednesday afternoon looking to secure critical support that had yet to materialize.”
