DOJ Ends “Slush Fund” for “Radical Left-Wing” Groups

Posted by Tina

Congressional investogaters found that the Obama administration funneled billions of dollars to activist organizations through a Department of Justice special fund. Jeff Sessions is ending that practice. He’s draining the swamp and restoring the rule of law! AG Sessions:

“When the federal government settles a case against a corporate wrongdoer, any settlement funds should go first to the victims and then to the American people—not to bankroll third-party special interest groups or the political friends of whoever is in power.”

Billions! The former president’s spread the wealth around scheme had many fingers.

There’s one lump of infrastructure funds in case anyone cares to notice.

So you use another new media player’s article, screaming with hearsay “evidence,” to prove that I should be “humiliated?”

Okay. So how reliable is Politico?

      Kochfacts:

Multiple stories and blog posts have been written about Koch and its shareholders over the past several years. Unfortunately, a great deal of what gets said is blatantly false or spun to confuse readers and leave a wrong impression. A Politico story written by Ken Vogel, a former employee of the left-leaning and George Soros-funded Center for Public Integrity, is the latest in a long line of examples.

Although the reporter reached out to a number of others in formulating his story about Koch, and relied on anonymous sources, none of us at Koch were contacted by him. There were a number of inaccuracies in Vogel’s story, as well as a continuation of his practice of using anonymous sources to attack or speculate about Koch’s alleged activities. Rather than take on all the inaccuracies, we asked for a specific correction on one matter – the false linkage of Koch to a recent California ballot proposition.

As the email chain below illustrates, the reporter twice refused to correct his story. Finally, we sent a third email asking him to at least include a statement from us in his piece. Again, he refused. In all the interactions we’ve had with news media these past several years, we’ve never had an outlet refuse to include our comment.

To set the record straight, here is Koch’s statement On California’s Proposition 32 refuting the reporter’s piece:

“We have been on the record, since November 5th 2012, as definitively not involved in the Prop 32 issue in California. We did not support, either directly or indirectly, this ballot initiative which would have restricted public and private sector employees’ rights to contribute to candidates.”

Gateway Pundit’s story is backed up by legitimate news sources:

Washington Examiner, “Justice Department ends ‘slush fund’ backing for nonprofits”

National Review, “Trump Justice Department Ends Settlement ‘Slush Fund'”

Forbes, “House Republicans Target ‘Slush Funds’ Created By DOJ For ‘Liberal Friends'”

WSJ, “Justice’s Liberal Slush Fund – Legal settlements are being used to funnel millions to left-wing activists like La Raza”

Commentary Magazine, ” The Justice Department Drains the Slush – The de-politicization of justice”

Maybe the bigger problem is that the biased liberal outlets you follow don’t bother to report anything that makes a liberal look bad, corrupt, sleazy, or criminal and they often spin and distort stories to demean and destroy conservatives.

How about you? Feeling humiliated yet?

It’s a matter of degree, Tina. All I know is Walter Cronkite likely exploded in his grave when he found out those notorious, hoax-manufacturing, dweebs got White House Press credentials.

        • Tina says:

I doubt if Gateway Pundits record is anywhere near as bad as CNN’s. In fact Gateway Pundit has gotten a lot right, which is why it has been targeted for destruction.

Walter Cronkite lived during a period of time when journalists and news commentators in general were more professional (read careful) about showing their biases. Having said that, Cronkite was a flaming liberal-progressive who did a lot to distort coverage of the Vietnam war, assisting the communists in the end, and promoting the left while dismissing the right. He existed in a bubble of liberal journalism that was accepted but not necessarily unbiased or accurate.

conservative observations about the man and his work:

Walter Cronkite (Born, St. Joseph, Missouri, November 4, 1916 – New York, July 17, 2009) was the chief correspondent and an anchorman for, and managing editor of, the CBS Evening News, 1962-1981. Widely regarded as authoritative, he was known as “Uncle Walter”. Unfortunately, he was a liberal-progressive and failed to see the threat of international Communism. Worse, he if anything advocated for Communism, even admitting he wanted a democratic federal world government and was willing to sit on the hand of Satan to get it.[1]

He was the first journalist that told the nation in 1963 that John F. Kennedy had been assassinated.

From the outset, critics accused Cronkite of politically slanting the news to the left. This bias, they said, was evidenced not so much by Cronkite’s words as by his choice of what stories CBS covered, and by his habit of raising his eyebrows and scowling to show his disapproval of statements made by conservatives and Republicans.

Cronkite strongly influenced the politics and outcome of the Vietnam War. In 1968 the Communist forces in South Vietnam, facing defeat, staged massive kamikaze attacks on U.S. positions in Saigon and elsewhere during the Chinese New Year celebration called Tet. This suicidal “Tet Offensive” was a military disaster that cost the lives of 100 Communist fighters for every American killed. But as a top Communist general said years later on the Public Broadcasting Service documentary series Vietnam, those on the left in the American press turned this Marxist military defeat into a political victory for the Communist side.[2]

In addition to his biased reporting on the war, FBI documents, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act by Yahoo news, evidence that legendary CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite collaborated with anti-Vietnam War activists in the 1960s, going so far as to offer advice on how to raise the public profile of protests and even promising that CBS News would rent a helicopter to take liberal Senator Edmund Muskie to and from the site of an anti-war rally.[3]

Cronkite’s influence on the America’s public perception of the Vietnam War was recognized by President Lyndon Johnson when he stated after a critical report on the war, “if we’ve lost Walter Cronkite, we’ve lost the country.”[4]

“However nice a person he may have been, Walter Cronkite was, more importantly, a model voice for liberal-progressives’ brand of socialism. His lack of understanding about the nature of the Constitution and about the founding ethos of the United States allowed him to warp the minds of millions of Americans with the historicism that characterizes liberal-progressivism. — Thomas E. Brewton[5] ”

In 1972 Democratic extreme leftist Presidential nominee George McGovern asked Cronkite to be his Vice Presidential running mate.[6][7]

Cronkite has also stated support for other leftist causes, such as tax increases.[8]

During and following his anchorage tenure, Cronkite has placed a disproportionate amount of criticism towards Conservatives while aligning himself with liberal figures such as Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and John Kerry.[8]

He was also a fierce advocate for abortion, having donated money to the pro-abortion group NARAL.[9]

In 2004, he appeared in the liberal documentary Outfoxed, in he which criticized the Fox News Channel for not having a left-wing bias.[10]

It’s natural for you to cite him as a sterling example in journalism since you and he are commrades.

Accuracy in Media has even more examples.

As an American who favors borders and sovereignty and as much as I value individual freedom and rights, I have to say Cronkite did America no favors in his reporting.
