The Great American Eclipse

by Jack

People started gathering at Chico’s Wildwood Park around 9:30 a.m., in advance of the much publicized lunar eclipse that began a few minutes after 10 a.m.

Chico experienced about 75% darkness at the peak of the eclipse around 10:17 a.m.   But, if you were in Northern Oregon, near the coast, you were briefly immersed in total darkness.  Redding experienced about 85% of the blackout and of course the further north the better (darker) it was.

Here are some random pictures of the many ways you could enjoy watching the eclipse.

Below the welders mask system – both worked fine!

‘Hmmm….rose colored glasses? Ok.

Unfortunately, there were clouds where we were. But we enjoyed watching it on the tube – with the continuing yakety-yak by commentators placed on MUTE.
