The acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Mick Mulvaney, told his 25 member advisory board that they would all be replaced…a complete purge since they were also informed not to bother reapplying. The move comes after these prominent consumer advocates, academics, and industry executives complained that Mulvaney was “ignoring them” and making “unwise decisions” about the agency’s future. Eleven board members held a press conference to criticized Mulvaney saying he had cancelled legally required meetings with the group. John Czwartacki, an agency spokesman, issued the following statement in retort:
“The outspoken members of the Consumer Advisory Board seem more concerned about protecting their taxpayer funded junkets to Washington, D.C., and being wined and dined by the Bureau than protecting consumers.”
New board members will take over in the Fall.
Drain the swamp!
