This song has special meaning for me. I associate it with a snowstorm at Christmas time in Denver just before I was born. It was a hard winter, I’m told, with snow up to the windowsills. Uncle John was coming home (Navy) to visit his sister (my mom) for Christmas. They said it took him hours just to walk a few blocks from the bus station dragging his duffel shoulder high behind him in the deep snow. My parents sang this song together while washing the dishes year after year and it’s come to represent not only the beauty and spirit of Christmas but the values of family and service that is represented so dearly by our military. God bless and keep them all, past and present and in every country.
HOOYA! post scripts.
Merry Christmas SC.
