Catholicism, Protestantism, Mormanism Extremist Organizations – US Army Reserve Equal Opportunity Training Power Point Slide

Posted by Tina

It’s been reported that a slide in a US Army Reserves training session characterized Catholicism, Mormanism, and Protestantism as religious extremism along with terror organizations Hamas and Al Qaeda. (See slide at link)

According to Rush a few moments ago the US government, Obama White House, denies that it had anything to do with creating the list presented in training sessions or placing the information in materials and that the content of the list was guided by consultation with the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Whatever the origin of the material it should be trashed immediately!

We’re losing the language and we’re losing our heritage, people, and this is another sterling example. The ability to distinguish differences is an important part of being awake and fully mindful. Propaganda that blurs the lines of distinction has only one purpose…domination and control.

The Obumble administrations reply to anytime they are caught with their hand in the cookie jar is to deny, deny, deny.
Even when their policies have touted the ideas in the first place. What a sorry excuse for a leader we have!

Re: “Obama White House, denies that it had anything to do with creating the list presented in training sessions or placing the information in materials and that the content of the list was guided by consultation with the Southern Poverty Law Center.”

And monkeys will may fly out of Chris’ butt.

  3. Princess says:

I remember that the DHS released a study about the threat of right wing terrorism in 2008. I have no problem believing that Obama had nothing to do with this.

I believe that all religious extremists are a threat to the general population. Look at Al Quaeda. And every faith has their extremists. The FLDS “plural marriage” creeps in Colorado City, Arizona consider themselves to be Mormons. Anyone out there doing “God’s work” with a gun or a bomb is a threat.

  4. Chris says:

There are of course Catholic, Protestant and Morman extremist groups. But the Powerpoint should have specifically named the groups, instead of just putting the names of the religions, which obviously include millions of regular, peaceful people. I would imagine whoever presented the Powerpoint phrased it in a clearer manner, but the presentation itself is unclear.

The SPLC doesn’t name “Mormons” or any of these other groups as hate groups or extremists, but they do name certain organizations that claim these religions. They are usually very clear about their reasons for naming these groups and they never attack entire religions. I think something got lost in translation between the SPLC and this training slide. It isn’t like the SPLC to be so sloppy, they are very careful about not attacking people simply for their religion.

  5. Pie Guevara says:

I may become concerned when Catholics, Protestants and Mormons start hijacking civilian aircraft and flying them into US buildings.

I may become concerned when Catholics, Protestants and Mormons are arrested for plotting and planning, and carrying out terrorist attacks.

Until such time, the ridiculous Southern Poverty Law Center should refrain from conflating Catholics, Protestants and Mormons with Islamo-fascist terrorists like Hamas and Al Qaeda who have declared war on Israel, the US, and civilization in general.

The least the Southern Poverty Law Center could do is issue a heartfelt apology.

Fat chance. The Southern Poverty Law Center is little more than a blatant progressive attack dog that seeks to trash people who do not share their extreme left wing views.

  6. Tina says:

Diversity…it colors everything and takes precedence over everything including proper training in some circumstances!

These guys need to have a clear sense of real threats that are not not blurred and obscured with inclusive fluff.

I’m not surprised by this error in judgement, In my experience progressives have difficulty naming real enemies. Pie’s point is well taken. We knew who the Nazi’s were, we knew what they intended and we named them and fought them to defeat.

I find it particularly disgusting that Evangelical Christians are at the top of the list above the Muslim Brotherhood. Al Qaeda is fourth…fourth on the list!

Pie: “Until such time, the ridiculous Southern Poverty Law Center should refrain from conflating Catholics, Protestants and Mormons with Islamo-fascist terrorists like Hamas and Al Qaeda…”

But they don’t do that. Take a look at their website. There is no conflation.

Re Chris: “But they don’t do that. Take a look at their website. There is no conflation.”

They just did. Sheesh, talk about putting on the blinders. Denial taint just a river in Egypt.

  9. Chris says:

    “They just did.”

The government says they were given the info to make the slide by the SPLC, but as far as I know we haven’t seen what the SPLC actually gave them. It’s possible that something was lost in translation from the SPLC to the slide. SPLC did not make the slides themselves. As I said, it is very unlike this group to condemn an entire religion or denomination in this way. They are usually very specific about the groups they condemn. I linked to their website so that you can have a look at their record. They are very clear about who they name and why.
