Benghazi: CIA Agents on the Ground Then, Now Subjected to Intimidation

Well, well, well! What to think of this? Apparently there were “dozens” of CIA agents on the ground in Benghazi on the night Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in the deadly terror attack. According to the CNN sources the agency is going so far as to subject them to lie detector examinations to make sure they are not talking about the events that night or the purpose for their being there:

Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency’s missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency’s workings.

The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress.

It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career.

In exclusive communications obtained by CNN, one insider writes, “You don’t jeopardize yourself, you jeopardize your family as well.”

Another says, “You have no idea the amount of pressure being brought to bear on anyone with knowledge of this operation.”

“Agency employees typically are polygraphed every three to four years. Never more than that,” said former CIA operative and CNN analyst Robert Baer.

Republicans continue to suspect a cover-up and intend to pursue all leads:

Among the many secrets still yet to be told about the Benghazi mission, is just how many Americans were there the night of the attack.

A source now tells CNN that number was 35, with as many as seven wounded, some seriously.

While it is still not known how many of them were CIA, a source tells CNN that 21 Americans were working in the building known as the annex, believed to be run by the agency.

The lack of information and pressure to silence CIA operatives is disturbing to U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, whose district includes CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

“I think it is a form of a cover-up, and I think it’s an attempt to push it under the rug, and I think the American people are feeling the same way,” said the Republican.

Wolf has repeatedly asked for a Select Committee to look into the matter. He has the backing of 150 fellow Republicans.

A House committee heard secret testimony yesterday from Col. George Bristol, the task force Commander in Northern and Western Africa that has been mysteriously unavailable for several months.

Last month Lt. Col. S.E. Gibson, the commander of the Tripoli site security team, told legislators there was no “stand down” order given on the night of the attack.

The only man to be disciplined following the Benghazi attack, Raymond Maxwell, testified in July but insisted he had no involvement in decisions that were made regarding requests for more security under Hillary Clinton at the State Department.

I know…we aren’t hearing much about these hearings or any others. And we all know the print media would be all over this with front page screaming headlines…and we know the alphabet channels would lead on the hour and half hour with negative reports if Obama had an “R” after his name.

But we Americans are on our own in this brave new world. We must depend on the drip, drip, drip of information that leaks to the internet or is scored by the occasional news item.

The administration can run and they can hide but this scandal will not go away. Good people died and we want to know how this administration could let that happen!

At least CNN finally broke away from the lying liberal media ranks and reported the truth. We can only hope more will do the same.

The truth is out there and only with constant pressure will the lies be uncovered. The pressure should include those in Congress to issue subpoenas while protecting them too. No one should fear for themselves or their family members for speaking to Congress.

    More from CNN:

I would bet real money the 1.5 billion rounds of ammo and armored vehicles are part of an arms deal to the wrong people. In this mess of Obama’s making their doesn’t seem to be right people.

  3. Peggy says:

Toby, do you mean the ones the Dept. of Homeland Security got or were there others?

I figured DHS was just preparing for the next civil war here to break out.

World Net Daily claims CNN is confirming their right after the attack:

CNN is reporting lawmakers are speculating on the possibility U.S. agencies operating in the Benghazi compound attacked Sept. 11, 2012, were secretly helping to transfer weapons from Libya, via Turkey, to the rebels in Syria.

That possibility was first reported by WND two weeks after the Benghazi attack, when the news agency cited Egyptian security officials who said murdered U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens played a central role in arming and recruiting rebels to fight Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

n November 2012, Middle Eastern security sources further described both the U.S. mission and nearby CIA annex in Benghazi as an intelligence and planning center for U.S. aid to the rebels, which included weapons shipments being coordinated with Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Many rebel fighters are openly members of terrorist organizations, including al-Qaida.

The information may help determine what motivated the deadly attacks in Benghazi.

The State Department told CNN it was helping the new Libyan government destroy weapons deemed “damaged, aged or too unsafe retain” but denied it was transferring weapons to other countries.

The State Department, however, clarified it “can’t speak for any other agencies.”

The CIA would not comment to CNN on the weapons-transfer reports.

Meanwhile, clarification on the weapons transfers may have inadvertently come through recent statements by a Libyan weapons dealer from a group hired to provide security to the U.S. mission in Benghazi. The dealer told Reuters he has helped ship weapons from Benghazi to the rebels fighting in Syria.

The detailed account may provide more circumstantial evidence the U.S. Benghazi mission was secretly involved in procuring and shipping weapons to the Syrian opposition before the deadly attack that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.

In an interview with Reuters published in June, Libyan warlord Abdul Basit Haroun declared he is behind some of the biggest shipments of weapons from Libya to Syria. Most of the weapons were sent to Turkey, where they were then smuggled into neighboring Syria, he said. (continues)

Peggy, I was talking about the DHS and their procurement of arms/weapons/ammo. They will not give a reason for their actions and as far as I know we have no idea where this stuff is. They don’t want people who know bits and pieces talking because it will form a path to a guilty verdict for treason.
