Quote of the Day

“The greatest generation was the one that founded our nation and wondered if we could “keep” its republic, and there has been a consistent, but accelerating, degeneration ever since.” – Selwyn Duke, The American Thinker

Great wisdom for Millennials and their parents and grandparents!

    Another one…

H.L. Mencken (born 1880 – died 1956) was a journalist, satirist, critic, and Democrat. He wrote this editorial while working for the Baltimore Evening Sun, which appeared in the July 26, 1920, edition:

“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron.”

    Yet another one…

“I’m referring here to the unnamed person who, in secret, was ordered to justify spying on all Americans. Imagine that job! I’ve shoveled shit. I’ve dug ditches. I’ve worked in brutal cold, blistering heat, dangerous environments, long hours, and I’ve even had to fly to Newark… but no job has ever asked me to shave off a piece of my soul and burn it on my bosses desk.”

An interesting piece, RHT447. I don’t agree with the conclusion that both parties are equally culpable.

The current administration took a specific law with restrictive legal language and abused it. They claim to have informed Congress, which I’m certain they did to cover their asses. They probably buried it in a memo within one of those massive late Friday afternoon document dumps that they knew nobody would ever see.

If we fail to nail them on this we might as well toss all laws in the garbage. They render the language of the law meaningless; they render the very notion of the rule of law as meaningless.

The radicals are the real problem. their ideology is absolutely outside of the American ideal. I don’t believe that all Democrats are that un-American in their thinking…I think a lot of our representatives in Congress are just asleep at the wheel…so unaware of the principles driving the radicals in their midst.

It isn’t that I don’t hold republicans responsible for the mess we have come to; it’s that Republicans have not been motivated by the same goals and ambitions fundamentally.

It’s becoming quite clear that Americans should never let their representatives serve too long in DC, they are too easily corrupted. But I don’t know how we change that. So many voters are not very well informed and i can’t imagine that those serving would limit their terms.

Re Tina’s: “I don’t agree with the conclusion that both parties are equally culpable.”

Tina is perfectly correct on this. I would only note that every time the US left makes significant gains in achieving their perpetual ambition to consolidate power in their hands at the federal level it is the habit of the more squeamish left wing dupes and volunteer thralls amongst them to lay blame on both parties rather than accept responsibility for supporting the most egregious threat to freedom we currently face — their own beloved, power grubbing socialist-communist-statist Big Brother leadership.

This pattern is typical of the left wing patsies across the globe. The behavior is so pervasive that it has become a cliché and a source of scorn, although 99% of the left are completely oblivious to it. Just as they are oblivious to the true aims of their glorious leaders. We have to remember that these are the same people who once parroted (or still do) the K-12 school inspired and indoctrinated notion that “Communism is the best system, you just have to have the right people to run it.”

By the way, I beg your pardon H.L.Mencken. I am just a “plain folk” and my heart’s desire IS NOT that the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and a complete narcissistic moron. Hence I did not vote for Barack Obama. I voted for the lesser of (if mind-numbingly) two evils.

God damn if these elites and their snide sycophants (like RHT447) do not really piss me off as much as the philosopher twits they quote.
