1. Stamps deemed unsafe for children: A run of stamps created specifically to commemorate Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” youth anti-obesity program has been recalled by the cash strapped US Post Office. The existence of the postage stamps in the first place is dumb enough, what kids go to stamps to learn how to skate board? But, because three of the illustrated activities, out of the seventeen total, were deemed by some pinheads as depicting unsafe activity… the entire run of stamps is going to be destroyed.
You’re probably wondering, what activities could be so blatantly unsafe as to lead our youth into the emergency room? Well, that would be: A cannon ball into a swimming pool, doing a hand stand without an approved safety helmet and lastly, riding a skate board without knee pads! These three terrible things raised safety concerns among sports figures on the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition. The so-called “unsafe depictions” came to light after USPS Marketing chief Nagisa Manabe asked Michelle Obama to take part in a first day ceremony for the stamps. That was apparently the first time the stamps had been reviewed by the Sports Council. We’ve become a nation of little girls and pinheads!
2. Unlimited EBT cards: Those on Welfare are issued an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card that allows recipients of food stamps to purchase goods using a digital card with a set spending limit, but for a few hours over the weekend, that limit disappeared for many users visiting Walmart stores in Louisiana.
Walmart and local police in Springhill and Mansfield confirmed to CBS affiliate KSLA that officers were called into the stores to help maintain order Saturday as shoppers swept through the aisles at two stores and bought as much as they could carry. Xerox, which hosts some of the infrastructure used by the EBT card system, told KSLA that a power outage during a routine maintenance test caused the temporary glitch that removed the spending limits. And suddenly it was like Christmas in October. Welfare recipients realized this immediately and decided to exploit the mistake for all it’s worth, but in doing so they became criminals because they knew they were not entitled to unlimited spending. When the welfare recipients started to exceed their normal limits by thousands of dollars anyone with an IQ above a rock should know it’s grand theft! But, Walmart is not blameless either, they helped facilitate the spending spree and legally they could be partly financially responsible too and they should be.
Walmart workers phoned their corporate headquarters to ask how they should handle all the shoppers with unlimited, government-funded spending limits, and were told to keep the registers ringing.
Those welfare recipients who abused this mistake could see their financial aide cut off permanently or until every cent they took has been repaid, but at this time nobody in government has expressed any interest in holding anyone accountable, heck it was just taxpayer’s money.
3. No more lead bullets for hunting: The Governor of California has signed into law a bill that prohibits the sale of lead bullets for hunting in CA. Bullets made with a core of steel are already illegal by federal law. There are two kinds of bullets made, those from lead and those from steel. CA gun owners are faced with a conundrum, they can own a firearm as per the 2nd Amendment, but they may not be able to buy bullets for it. “About 95 percent of the ammunition used by hunters in California contains lead. Many metallic bullets are banned by the federal government, and those that are available cost significantly more than lead bullets.” washingtontimes.com
4. Barricading for Obama: Government (specifically democrats) has taken it upon themselves to make the current gridlock as painful as possible on the American citizens. They are systematically barricading off roadside turnouts to view Mt. Rushmore as well as park trails, beaches, etc. The National Park Service has gone so far as to erect barricades to shut down parking lots surrounding Mount Vernon, despite the fact that the tourist destination is privately owned! That’s right, it’s privately owned…the Feds really exposed thier hand with that one!
Mount Vernon is the former plantation of George Washington and is owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, which doesn’t receive any government funding. The attraction’s official website reads, “NO SHUTDOWN HERE – The Federal government may be shut down, but Washington’s home remains open. Mount Vernon has remained a private non-profit for more than 150 years.”
Insanity 4x.
And some people think we’re fooling when we say they want to control every aspect of our lives.
The worm is slowly rolling in Colorado. The folks are starting to lobby for smoke free areas cause the stench is getting ridiculous…not to mention the second hand smoke! This should be fun to watch.
That stamp story is truly embarrassing.
“No more bullets: The Governor of California has signed into law a bill that prohibits the sale of lead bullets in CA. Bullets made with a core of steel are already illegal by federal law. There are two kinds of bullets made, those from lead and those from steel. CA gun owners are faced with a conundrum, they can own a firearm as per the 2nd Amendment, but they may not be able to buy bullets for it.”
I don’t think any of this is true, though.
All stories I have read say that the ban is on the use of lead ammunition in hunting, not on the sale of lead ammunition. According to SFGate, “The law would still allow lead bullets for target shooting and other firearm-related activities not related to hunting.”

Also, I’m really confused as to why you would say that “there are two kinds of bullets made, those from lead and those from steel,” when even I know that’s not true. Bullets are also made from iron and copper as well.
Chris you are being too literal again, yes bullets are often clad in copper, they are not made from copper, the insides are almost always either steel or lead. No iron, that would destroy the barrel because it’s too hard.
Walmart is a disgrace. Let’s talk about how many of their employees are on food stamps and what it costs us yearly. Let’s talk about the Walton children who inherited the money and have a wealth equal to about 30% of Americans together and their profits. Costco is a great example of an American business.
You forgot a big one on that list. The army’s multi-billion dollar clusterf$%k of a uniform DISASTER.
http://news.yahoo.com/army-5-billion-waste-094500638–politics.html
The army decides it needs a new univeral camo. Apparently forgetting in 2004 that we were at war in Afghanistan, they spend $5 billion (yes, that is BILLION) on a new uniform that can’t be worn by troops in one of our freaking wars.
“Evidence of the UCPs inadequacy as a combat uniform is easy to find—just look at pictures of soldiers currently serving in Afghanistan, they’re not wearing the UCP, which was deemed unsuitable for operations there, but a different uniform known as the MultiCam. In 2009, Congress responded to soldiers’ “concerns about the current combat uniform which they indicated provides ineffective camouflage given the environment in Afghanistan,” by passing a bill in the appropriations act requiring that the DOD “take immediate action to provide combat uniforms to personnel deployed to Afghanistan with a camouflage pattern that is suited to the environment of Afghanistan.”
Now they are planning to spend $4billion (again BILLION) creating a new camouflage.
I don’t really care if Michelle Obama thinks kids today don’t get enough exercise. They don’t. I think it is sad that when the EBT limits are gone Walmart could have stopped EBT sales like other stores, instead they put their profits first and let them just load up and haul away. I think it is terrible that steel bullets are banned because they are armor-piercing all while they turn our local police forces into military troops.
But I think that it is amazing that when it is time to cut spending, Congress can only cut the spending that affects the lives of millions of Americans. They never think to maybe look at the military industrial complex that is bleeding us dry with their surveillance state and apparently their billion dollar uniform budget.
“Insanity 4x.”
Agreed.
However, I don’t think AB711 bans the sale of lead bullets, it bans their use for hunting…
“Requires use of nonlead ammunition for the taking of all wildlife in California, including game mammals, game birds, nongame birds, and nongame mammals, with any firearm.”
I wonder if they meant this to include muzzleloaders as well. Under current law, they are not classified as firearms.
Also, “There are two kinds of bullets made, those from lead and those from steel.”
They make these as well…

The idea that lead bullets are causing pollution is silly (I’m not including lead shot ingested by water fowl). Ever wonder why lead bullets dug up from Civil War battle fields and lead ballast bars from Roman ships are still intact? It is because lead forms a surface oxide when exposed to the elements that is pretty much inert and resists corrosion.
RHT thanks for the clarification and also for the info on the lead. Of course lead is in the ground already because its their naturally, so I’m not sure what CA thinks they are gaining?
Princess: “…instead they put their profits first and let them just load up and haul away.”
Imagine employees of WalMart letting free Americans leave their store!
Give me a break. this happened in real time…the board of WalMart could hardly have made the decision to let those people steal everything so the profits would go up…today…instead of over the week. Think girl! they have already paid for that product and will sell it anyway. There is no “extra” profit from the purchases.
The government system failed. Let’s hope it doesn’t become a habit!
In fact WalMart employees did the only thing they could do; they called the authorities to help them get the situation under control. At that point many of the pilferers abandoned their carts and left the store, leaving a complete mess that the employees had to clean up.
These are the ill-mannered criminal low life’s that the rest of us work to provide for…maybe they’d learn to have a little respect if they had to earn that hand out.
At least the ones that got away won’t get away with it financially (depending on the bureaucrats in charge of the accounts). They should see their benefits cut until the monetary equivalent of the stuff they gave themselves is used up.
100% copper bullets are expensive, but effective. I don’t buy into the hypothesis that lead shot is poisoning birds. Other factors are involved.
The notion that a large, hard cast lead bullet used to kill game represents a toxic danger is ridiculous.
Dewey you can’t compare Costco to WalMart. They are very different stores with very different business models. WalMart doesn’t charge a membership fee for one thing. It also doesn’t sell in bulk on everyday items. How many households can use, buy, or store their food items in such bulk? WalMart does keep prices on everyday items low cost and that helps retired people on social security, single mothers, and others that don’t have much and must stretch their dollars. many of the employees at WalMart are semi-retired persons who want part time work to keep busy or moms who want some pocket money but have to be home when the kids get out of school.
There is room in America for different types of stores. People who don’t like WalMart certainly don’t have to work or shop there…the many people who do should be free to do so without having to listen to all the crappy negative stuff from progressive communitarians or thugish union types.
America…it’s a free country, or hadn’t you heard?
And by the way, it is not a crime to be wealthy or to leave wealth to your children. Envy and theft are ugly, ya know.
WalMart is like any other business, but a damn sight better than Target.
By the way, you can buy in bulk for certain items at WalMart, but only online.
Our readers should know that WalMart Corporation has a foundation that gave ” $1 billion in cash and in-kind gifts in the United States and $82.2 million in cash and in-kind gifts in international markets. In addition, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Logistics associates volunteered more than 2.2 million hours, generating $18 million to U.S. nonprofits.”
That’s not small change!
Also, when Katrina hit WalMart was at the forefront in giving relief:
WalMart joined with others in the corporate world in
response to the deadly hurricane in Haiti.
Corporation bashing has become a progressive/union sport but as always their criticism is full of hateful, envious, rhetoric and a lot of false information.
50 years ago I made my own skateboards by taking apart adjustable steel shoe skates, hammering the shoe mounts flat, and screwing or nailing them onto a piece of wood. I lived on a steep paved hill and there were a dozen of us who did the same thing. We all survived.
Re #14 Tina :
“Corporation bashing has become a progressive/union sport but as always their criticism is full of hateful, envious, rhetoric and a lot of false information.”
Straight up! ^5
The only reason for this series of stamps is to stroke the First Lady’s ego.
And ego problems are rampant in this white house.
The article I read about Walmart said that other stores in that area did not process EBT. As a taxpayer I appreciate a store not letting people abuse the system and just flat out steal. Especially people already getting food subsidies. I read that people were getting 7 carts of groceries. The meat department was totally empty. Part of me is glad hungry people got food, but all Walmart had to do was shut down EBT until the problem was fixed. Instead they just let the cards slide.
Tina, there is no redeeming a company whose employees are paid a wage making it possible for them to take up residence in the parking lot.
The only way they could make those stamps worse would be by putting her smug face on them.
As for the outlawing of lead ammo. What is the difference between ammo used for hunting and ammo used for self defense?
If this bullshit law isn’t about banning guns, why not just outlaw hunting?
Did you hear about the horrible new victim of the shutdown? Michelle’s garden is going untended.
“It’s never, ever looked like this – it’s just going rampant, there’s stuff rotting on the ground that’s been lying there for two weeks,”
How about Miss Get Up and Move walk out to her garden with a hoe and basket and pick the damn veggies herself. She could even take Barack and the girls for some exercise. He could even give up a Sunday golf game, but I understand why he may not want to since it’s the only place he can go have a smoke and not be caught by Michelle.
“Michelle Obama’s White House vegetable garden falls victim to ongoing US government shutdown:”

Libby: “Tina, there is no redeeming a company whose employees are paid a wage making it possible for them to take up residence in the parking lot.”
It’s a job, Libby, that is all…it’s not a profession.
There is no excuse for anyone that has had an opportunity to get a free education through the twelfth grade to take up residence in any parking lot.
There is no excuse for people failing to apply themselves so they can attend a trade school following high school to create a better life for themselves.
There is no excuse for people having a bunch of kids before they even think about finishing school or getting a job. (Worse…several kids with different mothers/fathers!)
There’s no excuse for a lot of things in this world.
WalMart offers minimum wage, entry level positions…a place to begin. People have to start somewhere but they are not expected or forced to take up residence in a WalMart entry level job.
A lot of people who work for WalMart are not the primary breadwinner in the family so that poverty level stuff does not apply to all. According to Forbes, the $11.75 average pay for associates is a “62 percent premium over the federal minimum wage”. Also most people who take a job at WalMart expect to move on and do move on to a higher paying job within a fairly short time.
The problem for people now is…there are no good JOBS! Progressives have created a hamburger flipper economy…for real!
You radical progressives have people convinced that taxpayers are bound to take care of their basic needs so they use what they earn to buy the essentials…beer and cigarettes and taking in a movie once or twice a week.
Don’t preach about WalMart dearie…it’s one of the few jobs the unmotivated, lazy, overly fertile, or “stuck in a crap economy” person can get…it’s also one store where they can afford to shop.
Would these people be better off if there was no WalMart? I don’t think so!
We wouldn’t be better off either…more people 100% on the dole.
Could be Michelle’s garden just fell victim to colder temperatures at night and Fall weather coming on. According to this chart they have had a lot of cloudy days, low temperatures and some rain. That could sludge up a summer crop.
Maybe this just provided a nice photo op…isn’t it scandalous?
