Recently in Letters to the Editor Ole Quiberg took the State of Jefferson supporters to task with a number of questions mixed with a little mocking. After reading his letter I responded with one of my own, which may never get published since the ER already gives Tina and I this blog. So here’s my response to Ole:
Letter to the Editor: “The State of Jefferson supporters are either naive or not telling the whole story,” writes Ole Quiberg. I would suggest a 3rd possibility, how about, Ole hasn’t been paying attention? I say that because his questions have all been answered over and at any number of public forums.
For example, just this year there have been four public hearings before the Butte County Supervisors. There was also huge town hall meeting at the Chico Elks Club, followed by several more smaller town hall type meetings followed in Paradise, Oroville and Concow. Information booths were present many local events, including the Butte County Fair.
Volunteers can only do so much (and this is an all-volunteer effort) and at some point people like Ole’ must do their part if they want to be informed.
Good government can’t happen in a vacuum, it takes informed and involved citizens. http://www.jeffersonstate.com
calling all state of jefferson supporters its time to take the fight to the dishonest progressives who will say and do anything to maintain the status quo

Actually Jack and Matt, some of these questions are viable, when asked in a concerned manner and not so condescending as the direction the letter to the Editor appeared to be presented. And with regard to the supporters of the SOJ, I admire your efforts to separate the SOJ from the ill managed State of California.
Mark Baird and many others have addressed the majority of these questions, and quite effectively, should one take the time to read their statements to these and other questions.
I know it can be difficult to find time to attend the County Supervisors meeting, but the meetings in the evening at locations like the Chico Library or Elks Lodge are just as informative. It just takes a bit of curiouity and effeort to find out about how the SOJ will benefit the North State, and save us from increasing Finanical obligations imposed by blind State assembly.
Actually if the State Assembly were to do the work of the entire California population, instaed of the anal special purpose direction they follow, I do not think the SOJ would even be a issue, but they are not doing their job effectively , so every concerned voter needs to seek and to find answers and effective solutions to the ever increasing debt and problems created by our current State politicians in Sacramento, not to mention restoring our rights that are being usurped daily through nanny style legislation.
So if you have questions, and would like some answers, and can open up a positive discussion, take the time and attend a couple of meetings, if the SOJ is going to work, it going to take a lot of input from all, and given the people supporting the SOJ have open minds to these questions, doesn’t it make more sense to support that mindset verse the present state of mismanagement coming out of Sacramento today.
Jack, if there is anything budgetary on that website, I couldn’t find it. I did see Casey’s reply to Ole’s letter though: facile (those libertarians are truly clueless) and hilarious.
Timber receipts? You’re all going to live on the federal dole?
