Court Order: California Must Spend $100K for Prisoner Sex Change

In a rare move, a Northern California district court judge has directed the state to grant a transgender inmate’s sex reassignment surgery — marking a first in the state’s history. The judge said the procedure is the “only adequate” treatment for her condition.

Michelle-Lael Norsworthy, 51, was born as Jeffrey Bryan Norsworthy. In the 1990s, she started living as a woman in state prison and was later diagnosed with severe gender dysphoria, a condition in which people identify with a different gender from the one they were born with, according to court documents. California corrections officials have said (she) has been given proper medical care over the years, including counseling and hormone therapy, the Associated Press reported.

Why is this our problem?  This [guy] is in jail for murder.    We owe him nothing except his meals, basic medical and a cell.   When he committed his crime he surrendered many rights.  Chemical castration is as far as we should go.

Ridiculously unbelievable that the taxpayers get stuck paying for this kind of stuff.

Jim: I know…terrible isn’t it? I think of all the desperate needs out here and then I wonder how we can justify diverting a $100k to a murderer for something non-life threatening, something that is basically cosmetic. I would sooner give that money to a children’s hospital to save a life worthy saving!

  2. Souther Comfort says:

What are you folks thinkn’, that makes bout as much sense as whippin’ a dead horse. Lordy sakes

    • Post Scripts says:

Seems like most things done by government is about as smart as whipping a dead horse. The simple brilliance of an idea is diminished by the number of people who add to it and/or help fix it.

Further proof the lunatics are running the asylum that is the great State Of California.

    More from the asylum …

Orange County Superior Court judge M. Marc Kelly recently ruled that Kevin Jonas Rojano-Nieto, convicted of sodomizing a 3 year old toddler, should not face the minimum sentence of 25 years to life because “There was no violence or callous disregard for (the victim’s) well-being.”
