Tina and I wish all of you a very happy Easter and many more to come. Tina is spending her day with her family and soon I will be with my group. On my side they are arriving as I write, just 26 miles from here at a little ranch in Butte City. There will be 6 adults, 1 new baby, 4 old dogs, 4 house cats, 6 horses, 10 cows (1 about to have a baby calf) and a dozen dumb chickens. Not present, but accounted for, 1 in law enforcement and 1 in the military. Did you know that horses are nosey creatures? It’s true. I was working on the water trough in the pasture the other day and this 1 year old and her mother kept looking over my shoulder. I couldn’t my head without bumping into a horse muzzle. No matter what you’re doing, fixing the fence or whatever, these nosey horses have to be right there watching everything you do. Well, that’s my Easter story, how about yours?

Yup. I’ve had the same experience as a kid growing up on a ranch in the gold rush country. Have had to push them away so they didn’t get clocked by the back swing of my hammer. Also had them come up behind me at night. First time scared the crap out of me. Amazing how something so big can move so quietly.
Want to watch them go bananas? Put a couple of large brightly colored koi in the water trough.
And happy Easter to all.
