I apologize for being so late in posting about the recent republican debate on the FOX Business channel. If you missed it you missed a seriously held event that served the voters rather than the hosts. The focus of the evening was the economy
It was quite a substantive night with a few surprises. Cruz and Rubio were clear and fearless in their responses and came in at the front of the pack in my estimation. Both my husband and I were newly enthused about Carley Fiorina. The lady knows her stuff and takes this quest seriously. Ron Paul was finally given some time and performed with confidence I haven’t seen in him as strongly before. Ben Carson missed the mark badly on and Syria…but then they laughed at Romney way back when for his remarks about Russia. Carson redeemed himself with strong answers to two other questions, in particular his position that the way to get ahead in America is by applying oneself.
A few clouds tarnished a perfect night. John Kasich was rude and too into himself. Trump was Trump. Between Bill Clinton and Barack Obama I’ve had enough of “I” men. Jeb Bush stumbled several times and seemed defensive rather than upbeat. Other than that I was very pleased. As of today my perfect ticket would be Cruz/Fiorina but I’m not sure she’d accept a VP slot.
The front runners were all in favor of tax plans to set the people free of burdensome taxes and regulations. Obamacare must go and be replaced with policies that put the individual in charge of his healthcare, make accommodations for preexisting conditions, and return power to the states. In addition to the economy and healthcare a strong theme of the night was the rule of law…restoring our nation of laws.
As it turns out I’m pretty much in agreement with Charles Krauthammer.
How about you…is there anything you’ve been dying to share about the debate conducted by adults?
Yes Tina, it was a serious event, and that comment sums it up for the viewers who seek solid questions asked of candidates to issues that continues plague us from this current administration, or State of the Union.
Yes, this time we had Adult moderators and not just a panel of self serving bias media types that come across as wastrel at best.
Best moderators so far. They ask relevant questions, what a change!
After the CNBC fiasco, the debates had nowhere to go but UP!
FBN has now set the standard for debates and will be interesting if the other networks will attempt to improve or rest on their old, tired, dusty laurels(?)
Again, I watched comments on Twitter while listening to the debate. Some great and some hilarious observations! Better, I think, than just watching on TV.
And as far as debate performances are concerned, somebody please stick a fork in Kasich – he’s DONE!
Absolutely!!!
It was a fantastic debate that displayed real ideas of how to restore our country to its former greatness.
While any of the Republicans on that stage would do a better job than Clinton, at this point I would prefer that Kasich, Bush, and Paul stepped down. It’s time to narrow the field.
The Democrats have been decidedly quiet, with much fewer debates. I suppose that’s inevitable when you’re holding a coronation and not an election. If they want to be taken seriously they should agree to debate with the same moderators the Republicans just did. Cavuto will ask the terrible question of how will they pay for all the handouts, but that’s a pretty fair question.
Steve I agree. The field will begin to whittle as soon as one or two of them go and the money and votes transfer to others. If not sooner, right after Christmas for sure!
And what about the second tier? How long will they stumble along?
I saw the Cavuto interview with the student…priceless. Do you think he penetrated her brain at all? He’s less intimidating and invites people to think but so many seem to lack the ability. I’m always struck by the lack of curiosity in young people. It’s like they’ve been trained to think their smarter and “right” about everything.
Tina I would love to see you guys run Cruz/Carly. I would not vote for them but I think it would represent the party.
But this is all theater. Unless Trump can keep the Media and RNC from doing their flip to establishment candidates it is all theater and GOP Superman will appear as always. I think Jeb’s failures are a surprise to them. He has tons of money so who knows maybe they will still force their Candidate into his #1 Spot.
The Media machine is prepped for A Bush / Clinton election. One can only hope Both parties buck the donor establishment and not have that election.
Dewey thanks for your thoughts. And for your clarity.
Both parties are in states of upheaval for different reasons.
The Republican Party is in the process of transformation. I think the new blood will win over the old establishment and the party will emerge stronger than ever. The Democrats are in deep trouble. Their ideas are old; they fail every time. Their special interest groups are fracturing and making them look like fools. Young people are seeing that hope and change isn’t leadership or a recipe for their future. They lack a field of capable people for future elections. Their embrace of crony capitalism reminds me of mating rabbits! Dishonor has tarnished the brand. The Democrats are in a state of decay.
The people must return to the fundamental things that made this nation strong, that made this nation the land of opportunity. Adherence to the rule of law would be a start. Tearing down policies that create division and strife would be another arena requiring our attention. We need to claim the power of our birthright and let our voices be heard. All is not lost…yet.
I saw the Cavuto interview with the student…priceless. Do you think he penetrated her brain at all? LOL, ah ya? Not!
The only way she’ll make money after graduation is if she rents out the space between her ears for storage.
