Marco Rubio Vows to Inspire a Constitutional Convention of the States

Marco RubioPosted by Tina

The Rubio campaign released a statement to the media on Rubio’s latest campaign position which, they said, was “inspired by the Founding Fathers and by Congress’s seeming inability to pass conservative legislation.” Scroll down at the link for video of Rubio stating his position in front of a gathering on the campaign trail:

“One of the things I’m going to do on my first day is office is I will put the prestige and power of the presidency behind a constitutional convention of the states,” Rubio said as he campaigned in Iowa. “You know why? Because that is the only way that we are ever going to get term limits on members of Congress or the judiciary and that is the only way we are ever going to get a balanced-budget amendment.”

Hmmm…is he saying this because he needs a big conservative idea to garner support from Trump and Cruz supporters or has he sincerely come to this conclusion vowing to follow through? Who knows…it is a red meat flag he’s a flyin’.

Mark Levin, esteemed legal beagle, writer, talk show host and Cruz supporter immediately praised Rubio. The idea for a convention of the states was put forth by Levin in a book, The Liberty Amendments:

For a century, the Statists have steadfastly constructed a federal Leviathan, distorting and evading our constitutional system in pursuit of an all-powerful, ubiquitous central government. The result is an ongoing and growing assault on individual liberty, state sovereignty, and the social compact. Levin argues that if we cherish our American heritage, it is time to embrace a constitutional revival.

The delegates to the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and the delegates to each state’s ratification convention foresaw a time when—despite their best efforts to forestall it—the Federal government might breach the Constitution’s limits and begin oppressing the people. Agencies such as the IRS and EPA and programs such as Obamacare demonstrate that the Framers’ fear was prescient. Therefore, the Framers provided two methods for amending the Constitution. The second was intended for our current circumstances—empowering the states to bypass Congress and call a convention for the purpose of amending the Constitution. Levin argues that we, the people, can avoid a perilous outcome by seeking recourse, using the method called for in the Constitution itself. (continues)

A movement has since been launched to enroll leadership in the various states. The idea was criticized by some on the right. Levin’s response to their concerns is here.

It will be interesting to see if this gains traction and is included in the next debate on FOX Business, Thursday, January 14th.

Those who keep wondering whether the people have any power might want to look into this.

Don’t trust Rubio any more than I trust Hillary. Gang of Eight member, amnesty and tried to draw Cruz into his amnesty plan, which backfired.

How about a trip down memory lane into Hillary’s past.

When are you going to admit any of these candidates backed by big money donors are working to give away our rights to suit their donors.

Rubio has had the same billionaire fund his whole career. Right now Paul Singer and a hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin are his big fish.

You’re going to tell me they are going to protect the rights of the middle class? Yea right they prefer slave workers and investor profits.

Clinton has the banks, Walmart Heirs, Monsanto, the banks ect ect. She is just a small step better than GOP but in the end they all have the same goals. It’s called Fascism.

At least T-Rump is honest in his fascism.

Sad to see sheeple think these people care about the average citizen…No they want to own all public assets and use tax dollars to fund profits for themselves.

They gave our economy to China and now they want to buy up the shell of America and create a slave worker class like China.

Who speaks at this constitutional convention for the people? No One. They speak for their donors….they pay for a politicians services period.
