Thanks to Pie for the links to this anniversary story involving the hapless Al Gore and a prediction he made ten years ago this month. If we didn’t take immediate, severe emergency steps we were all going to fry…or drown!
Credited Anthony Watts of WUWT who apparently mined the internet to find a CBS article from January 2006, “2006: Al Gore Does Sundance.”
Does it get any more foo foo elite than Sundance?
Gore was there to attend the premiere of his documentary (scare movie), “An Inconvenient Truth.” CBS explains the Gore position in 2006:
The former vice president came to town for the premiere of “An Inconvenient Truth,” a documentary chronicling what has become his crusade since losing the 2000 presidential election: Educating the masses that global warming is about to toast our ecology and our way of life.
Gore has been saying it for decades, since a college class in the 1960s convinced him that greenhouse gases from oil, coal and other carbon emissions were trapping the sun’s heat in the atmosphere, resulting in a glacial meltdown that could flood much of the planet.
Americans have been hearing it for decades, wavering between belief and skepticism that it all may just be a natural part of Earth’s cyclical warming and cooling phases.
And politicians and corporations have been ignoring the issue for decades, to the point that unless drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gases are taken within the next 10 years, the world will reach a point of no return, Gore said.
He sees the situation as “a true planetary emergency.”
“If you accept the truth of that, then nothing else really matters that much,” Gore said in an interview with The Associated Press. “We have to organize quickly to come up with a coherent and really strong response, and that’s what I’m devoting myself to.”
This man has become a clown on the world stage and all for a for a hoax of cosmic proportions. (We should note he did become a very wealthy man at our expense in the process.)
Follow the link to Anthony’s site to read his take and data going back to 1979 that exposes the absurdity of Gores prediction. Anthony’s conclusion, “Gaia seems to be a “Gore denier”. How inconvenient.”
Indeed!
(Interesting that CBS at the time was at least a semi-denier…not much spin in the 2006 story compared to today, “COLD SHOULDER: ABC, CBS Exclude Scientists Critical of Global Warming for More Than 1,300 Days”)
Now that we will officially be doomed by AGW and beyond the point of no return by the end of the month, will Al Gore move on to other issues? Will the UN disband the useless IPCC and move on to other issues?
Doubt it, but even if they did they’d just replace it with an equally inane “cause.”
Actually, with the recent climate conference agreement, we have met that deadline. We have organized; we have made a plan. And, if everybody actually does what they’ve agreed to do, we might forestall some catastrophes. (But nobody should be holding their breath.)
