I read the first few paragraphs…same old song. America is stronger than other nations economically so we should feel good about that…give me a break. The community organizer needs to go home; his goals are those that belong in local communities not at the federal level.
…our optimism and work ethic, our spirit of discovery and innovation, our diversity and commitment to the rule of law — these things give us everything we need to ensure prosperity and security for generations to come.
No Mr. President, we need freedom to put those qualities to work and set those things into motion.
First, how do we give everyone a fair shot at opportunity and security in this new economy?
Redistribution government blunts and imprisons us…change course! Lower corporate taxes, rid us of the constraining bureaucracy and regulations. Set us free!
Second, how do we make technology work for us, and not against us — especially when it comes to solving urgent challenges like climate change?
Redistribution government blunts and imprisons us…change course! Lower corporate taxes, rid us of the constraining bureaucracy and regulations. Set us free!
Third, how do we keep America safe and lead the world without becoming its policeman?
Really? You’ve had the opportunity to get a first class education by listening to experts in the field and leaders from around the world over a seven year period and you still have no answers? Maybe it’s time to move on.
And finally, how can we make our politics reflect what’s best in us, and not what’s worst?
Once again, change course, get aligned with the Constitution, throw away that copy of Rules for Radicals and seek better reading material. Start with Hyak’s, Road to Serfdom. then take everything you think you know about compassion and uplifting people and apply it personally within a community…give up redistribution and teach people to fish!
That’s my two cents…how about you?
Joel B Polak of Breitbart paid attention, fact checked the address, and found ten errors. He found something positive in the end:
It wasn’t a SOTU speech, it was a campaign fundraising speech! Obumble is long on making speeches but short on either facts or actions and delusional about threats to the US.
After taking my anti nausea medicine, I watched comments on Twitter instead of listening, and was able to stomach reading about it. Barely. Folks on Twitter quickly commented on where Obumble was either ignorant or inept.
However, this speech performance by da prez has qualified to been considered for this year’s Biggest Pile of Bilge award . . .
Paul Ryan deserves last night’s Iron Jaw award. He appeared to be struggling not to laugh about some of Obumble delusional statements.
And the Pentagon leaders attending were definitely not happy when Obumble said “most powerful nation on Earth. Period.” and insisted “no nation dares to attack us” on a night that ten Navy sailors were being held captive in an Iranian prison . . .
I did see enough clips to witness both Ryan’s Iron Jaw and the Generals and such reaction. It might have been the sorriest moment in SOTU history.
Couldn’t watch him tell us a bunch of lies again and be so proud of his accomplishments to destroy America.
This touching article is about a grandson who asked his 87 year old grandmother one question about WWII. Her answer sums up the difference between the Greatest Generation and the America they lived in to the one we live in today.

Corporate profits are off the roof! They are doing very very well it is the workers who are not. Exactly how is that setting the people free?
Corporations? fascism? I am really beginning to think the GOP Voters are fascists and do not realize it. We the people are not a corporation. We the people do not want to be slaves to these corporations where the profits all go to the top and investors.
I want to be free from corporate rule as we have now. Those who do not work in today’s world have not a clue on work conditions, pay, and the police state inside these companies.
Corporations write the laws nothing gets passes for the people. These corporations are not American Companies anymore they are international and do not give a Hoot about the USA.
Dewey why have the corporations done so well, while the people floundered, under the Keynesian/socialist policies of seven years of Obama?
The last seven years have not been about setting people free; they’ve been about making people dependent. Corporations have been propped up through QE. Their gains are not all from productive real growth but from government manipulation.
We the people are not corporations. When our government stays out of the way, private citizens engage in productive activity, our economy grows, good jobs are created and corporations form and expand…real growth. When the government remains neutral there is no reason or need for lobbying and corporatism.
We are not “ruled” by corporations but by corrupt politicians, many of them socialists, who make deals for favorable regulations in exchange for cash. Bernie gets around that by taxing at 90%…and he’ll kill the economy and make all of us poorer in the process.
Agree about “work conditions, pay, and the police state inside these companies.” Much of that derives from government regulations and progressive thinking!
Companies are not emotional. The people that run them are diverse. Your hatred of corporations is irrational.
“I can´t say I was disappointed by the president´s speech, but that´s because I wasn´t expecting much. As usual, the president tried to manage people´s perceptions instead of confronting reality: His policies aren´t working. If everything were as great as he said it was, two-thirds of the American people wouldn´t say the country is on the wrong track. Success doesn´t need hype; it speaks for itself. – Paul Ryan.
