The Inconsistent President

by Jack

In life we all have those personal lines that shouldn’t be crossed. Developing those lines starts when our parents give us no-no’s (absolutes). We can’t do that without serious repercussions. We know it, so we avoid doing it, if we’re smart.

Everyone has lines that should not be crossed, and so do nations, only our lines at the moment seem subject to negotiation.  This is what President Obama has done for us.   And these lines that appear and disappear tell unfriendly nations that we lack resolve, that our word means little, that we can be intimidated and forced into a concessions. In short Obama has been extremely inconsistent on far too many important issues.

A nation of our size and power ought to have a lot of leverage (power) when it comes to backing up exactly what we say. This is not to bully, but to protect national security and encourage world peace.

Obama has never had clearly stated foreign policy. He prefers to deal with matters as they arise, but lacking a clear statement of intent often times results problems arising, because we are being tested. Russia did that with their invasions into the Ukraine. China did that their man-made islands reaching into Japanese waters. Iran tested us with nuclear proliferation and so it’s gone, with nation after nation, pushing to see what they can get away with and they have gotten away with plenty. The world is much more unstable and dangerous place now, thanks to Obama’s weak leadership and his failure to properly wield power.

Every world leader knows you have to be consistent to be credible, with the exception of Barack Obama. He is inconsistent on so many levels few of us have any clue where he’s going. But, his life growing up was full of inconsistency and I think its had a big impact on his judgement. For example, he was divided between being black or white, Christian or Muslim, embracing American heritage or African heritage.   Is it any wonder he’s see’s America differently than most of us, including our founders?

Obama has an extremely unusual background that was influenced by all sorts of radicals, communists, anarchists, revolutionaries, socialists and black militants. The influence from his mentors has skewed his judgment and made him wholly unsuitable being a president. However, those who elected him glossed over those shortcomings and focused mostly on his race and how wonderful it would be to have a black president! Obama was plugged in to the democrat machine and he had the right stuff…for a leftists, not so much for a patriotic American who understood and respected our values.

Nobody, except far left democrats should have been surprise when, as president, Barack Hussein Obama, has created chaos and divided the nation in his tenure as president.  And over so many things, not the least of which was race relations that appears to have been set back by decades.

Obama has done a lot of damage as president and for over 7 years he has got away with it because he blamed his problems on the previous president.  But, as his years in office drag on, that excuse is wearing thin.

Here are are just a few key areas that Obama has managed to damage:  Our national pride, our economy, our immigration and our founders vision of a great melting pot, our military moral, our trust in government, all these things and more have dropped precipitously!

Obama’s inconsistent policies are bad enough, but when they are coupled to poor judgement, it’s played He77 on America.  We’re more at risk than at any other time following the cold war.

We have witnessed recently a plethora of brush fire wars,  radical Islamic terrorism, and antagonist nations, all nipping at our heels.   This is what happens when the president abdicates his place on the world stage.  If we elect another democrat like Obama to be president, we better prepare for China to run the world and watch as America skids into poverty.

Obama’s background also included two con artist. First, was his father who conned his way into American schools, women’s beds, bigamy and money scams. Second, was the teachings of Saul Alinsky who learned the con game from members of the Chicago mob.

In “Dreams From My Father” read how Obama Jr. conned his Hawaii high school classmates and teacher prior to Obama Sr’s. visit. His lies and cons to sell ObamaCare to the American people needs no further discussion. He’s had years of practice to become the master con artist he is today and has used his “talent” against the people and to destroy our republic.

This is the America I grew up in when we were proud to be an American, because we had great leaders who were also proud because they grew up in the land that they loved.

I gotta say it again. If you really think, sitting there in little Chico by the Creek, that your way of life is threatened by the Islamic Jihad … you need to seek psychological assistance (and you firearms should be confiscated).

  3. Tina says:

The bulk of the article was on the damage Obama has done all by his lonesome due to his radical and dysfunctional background, Libby. did you even read it?

  4. dewster says:

has created chaos and divided the nation ?

That is the Koch Tea Party. In 2010 voters stayed home and the Tea party Coup took Congress and has held us hostage.

We as a nation do not all agree with your platform. It is the conservative slogan to divide and conquer. You do the damage then blame PBO over and over again.

Gw the all time great president left us in shambles. I do not think you realize we were finished. In fact it was the tenacity and last ditched effort that stopped our complete destruction.

The tiny bit of legislation passed has slowed down the next crash but it is coming and the total destruction eminent. You want unregulated markets and to throw the blame at others.

You are really off on a limb. I saw Chico as a bubble. A town where most leave to get away from the crazy thinking.

You post hateful blame. The language is that of the McCarthy era.

Radical? That is the Tea Party Agenda. Freedom = right to steal the commons and sell it back to us.

Goebels would be proud of RW blogs.

  5. J. Soden says:

The only lines Obumble crosses are when he elbows past others to get a golf cart. He ignores the rest.

  6. dewster says:

By the way also……. Our national pride?

While I do not agree with all of PBO’s policies he has done much to repair the world view of the USA after GW’s Lies and iraq war.

The GOP is destroying progress in this Primary. Donald Trump is slewing bigotry and hate. Some people have in Brittan tried to ban him from their country.

Clearly your hate for the Black President has taken over all logic and common sense.

We are embarrassed by what the GOP has become. Both parties are corrupt but only one spews hate 24/7 in media to which the world see. We look like a country of haters and idiots. You see they know the facts.

  7. Tina says:

Why all the hate Dewey? Why all of the intolerance? Why the specious accusations of racism?

Could be that the failures of this administration are so wide and deep that all you have left is attacking political opponents.

No president will have a perfect record that everyone likes. Every president will make mistakes. Progressive policies don’t work and it’s been proven, in life, again and again and again.

I won’t ask my fellow Americans to settle for mediocre constantly bordering on crisis. WE CAN DO BETTER…MUCH BETTER…ND WE WILL!

    • dewster says:

      No Hate Tina nice try

      We are embarrassed why?

hate against Muslims, code against women and Blacks, continuous gay bashing, Ya know all the H8 coming from the right.

The railing against the working people of America. Especially by those who collect those socialist Social Security checks.
Pprogressive Politics did not work?…… hum seems to me The Rep and Dem Progressive politics of Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt did work.

Conservative Politics is what is ruining the middle class. Conservatism is really fascism. It has changed greatly since Goldwater.

Bottom Line you want to steal the commons to sell back to the people after generations of Taxes have supported those commons.

The documents and figures on on our side. Conservatives want the authoritarian rule over the freedom of all. Constant H8 and Propaganda.

Most people agree in America on the basics. No One tells you you can not live by your ideology. But you want to force others to live by yours.

Once everything is Privatized and sold off to the elite we will have no voice. Business is not meant to run government. That is Fascism.

We need to rebuild America. We need real America Business owned by a Person not international corporations that use to be American Companies. Working People deserve a fair wage. We need cash flow not more personal debt.

Sorry but The gov was suppose to be by the people for the people not by the corporation for the corporation.

Try to have a discussion on policy instead this H8 Obama all day long, he is on his way out.

You repeat untrue propaganda constantly. It is so unproductive.

have you read the TPP yet? It can not be undone what do you think of it? You like Other countries and foreign corporations dictating law to us?

      • Tina says:

        Dewey: “We are embarrassed why?”

Pay attention…YOU WROTE THAT, not me.

You don’t speak for conservatives or republicans You speak from the fantasy enemies you’ve constructed in your head.

I’ve asked before, if we are so terrible why do you hang out here?

Asking me about the TTP again and again only shows you don’t read what I have to say and don’t care what I think…AT ALL.

Go peddle your condescending, mis-characterizations somewhere else.

  8. dewster says:

Here are the Brits discussing Trump. They did the right thing by not banning him however after they all had the chance to call him a buffoon among other things.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6COJG3OsF8

Conservatives and the Labor Party all agreed he is an Idiot and the very language that drives the GOP is unacceptable and disgusting. trump says what you think and say among yourselves. It’s nice to see the Brits have not lost their common sense as Republican Americans have.

  9. Tina says:

We’re already the laughing stock around the world among former allies and enemies alike thanks to the amateur president and former community organizer. You were all warned…so how come the superior tone now?

You must be really afraid of Trump. I think you bring him up more than anyone around here.

Just think…maybe he’ll make Sarah his running mate, they’ll win, and you can spend the next eight years writing crappy character assassinations; you seem to enjoy it so much. Seriously Chris, is that all you have to say about this primary?

    • Chris says:

      Tina:

“We’re already the laughing stock around the world among former allies and enemies alike thanks to the amateur president and former community organizer.”

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: prove it. I’ve shown you that Obama’s approval ratings around the world surpass that of his predecessor, and that America’s approval ratings as a whole have gone up. So what are you basing this on, other than wishful thinking?

      • Tina says:

I have not seen any evidence that his “approval ratings” around the world are better than Bush. You must be thinking of another blog. Just telling me that doesn’t count. Liberal opinion also doesn’t count. Much of the opinion about Bush came from liberals and/or from the constant drumbeat of criticism.

Apparently you haven’t seen any of these articles:

        The Commentator

When considering his predecessors and his incumbent colleagues around the world, few heads of state or world leaders could be placed in the same category of political pusillanimity as U.S. President Barack Obama.

It sounds like a hell of a statement, but in analysing the former Illinois Senator’s record in office, the prevailing narrative is one of confusion at best. Hasty in the face of long-term goals, and known to prevaricate when confronted with crises, Barack Obama was elected on a wave of populism. The “Obama effect” has come to typify campaigns, posters, and effective how-to guides on getting elected are often adorned with an image of America’s first black president.

Why then, wherever Obama travels in the world, is he confronted with voluminous disdain?

It all seemed to start well by his standards. In Cairo, he spoke to the “Muslim world” of building bridges and other nice, fluffy things. But the reality was far from what Obama and his advisors could have ever imagined, and Cairo set the tone for a bumbling foreign policy approach that has left Obama as one of the least popular leaders on the face of the planet.

But Bush was relatively unpopular too – so why am I being so harsh on Obama?

It’s quite simple. When George W. Bush, Obama’s predecessor, was elected, there wasn’t an outpouring of ecstacy across the globe. People weren’t convinced that the new Messiah had arrived, or that “change had come” – whatever that means.

When George W. Bush was elected, the United States was already perceived as being overstretched, and while Bush Jr compounded that problem with his nation-building philosophy, Obama promised to end America’s role as bad guy in the world, while ratcheting up the rhetoric on peace, democracy, diplomacy and ‘fairness’. It’s all failed.(continues)

NY Post, “Iranian president snubbed Obama three times”

CBS, “More Americans believe Obama is not respected by world leaders”

Bloomberg, “Christie Is Right: America Really Has Lost Respect in the World”

        The American Thinker:

        2011

Carrie Budoff Brown writes in Politico that President Obama has very poor personal relations with most world leaders. … The column points out that the president is hard-pressed to develop alliances and close personal ties with world leaders. He and the First Lady rarely do “double dates” with other world leaders and their spouses, for example, as have other Presidents. These personal relationships can help bring about international cooperation and help promote American interests.

Americans should not be too surprised. After all, he has treated the leaders of several of our closest allies with disdain — including the former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and, of course, Israeli’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — having him enter the White House through an obscure doorway and later rudely walking out of a meeting with him so he could have dinner with the First Lady. The Dalai Lama was also all but ignored during a visit to the White House.” (And escorted from the WH via a back or side door where garbage cans were visible)

Perceptions are often political. Obamas policies have helprd to make the world less safe and the worlds economy an absolute disaster…but you keep on telling yourself how popular he is, after all, with you lefties it’s all about symbolism.

        • Chris says:

Tina: “I have not seen any evidence that his “approval ratings” around the world are better than Bush.”

Sorry, I forgot you literally cannot see things which contradict your worldview. I’d post the poll numbers again, but you still wouldn’t see them, so what would be the point?

You obviously had time to look for several articles which you thought proved that Obama was unpopular around the world, and you apparently didn’t even think to Google his international approval ratings? Seriously?

But you did find time to link to an article showing that lots of Americans *think* Obama has lower international approval ratings than his predecessor, which proves nothing about whether or not those international approval ratings actually *are* lower. You’ve linked to that same article many times before, and each time I’ve explained the same thing to you: that proves nothing, and you have to actually show that his international approval ratings *are* lower to prove your point, not just that you’ve managed to convince Americans that those approval ratings are lower. This shouldn’t have needed to be explained to you once, but it’s been explained to you several times, and you

          Still.

          Can’t.

          See it.

(Yeah, I’m being arrogant and condescending. There is no other appropriate reaction at this point. You’ve crossed over into another dimension of ridiculous statements in the past couple of weeks. I understand Libby’s drive-by style so much better now.)

          • Tina says:

As I responded to your other typically nasty and arrogant comment, believe what you want.

Much of the world and most of the media we use are liberal/socialists…big surprise that liberals like Obama…no matter how bad his record has been. Also it’s no surprise that they and you do not hold him accountable.

Your world is so easy…filled with unicorns and fairy dust. Obama is the best and he has never made a mistake or tried to deceive anyone. Okey dokey…have it your way.

          • Chris says:

Tina: “Your world is so easy…filled with unicorns and fairy dust. Obama is the best and he has never made a mistake or tried to deceive anyone. Okey dokey…have it your way.”

I have criticized Obama many times, and I think he is far from the best president ever. But as usual, all you have are strawman arguments and deflections.

It is a fact that Obama’s international approval ratings are higher than Bush’s. All you’d have to do to verify that is Google “Obama international approval ratings.” But you won’t do that; instead you’ll keeps making baseless claims that “the world doesn’t respect him,” because much like a six year old, you project your emotions into the world at large.

            It’s really quite amusing.

  10. Peggy says:

    Off Topic.

Tina, here is another book that sounds very interesting. It’s the true story of a young boy with major life problems meets a caring woman in a magic shop who is able to give him life changing skills that puts him on the path to become a neurosurgeon.

Into the Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon’s Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart:

“Neurosurgeon Doty combines gut-wrenching memoir with meditative how-to in this well-told, grueling tale of his personal journey from frightened pre-teen with an alcoholic father and depressed mother to a respected doctor and philanthropist. He attributes his success to the ancient mindfulness and visualization techniques that “rewired” his brain and were taught to him in the back of a magic shop in 1968, when he was 12 years old. “When our brain changes, we change,” Doty writes. “That is a truth proven by science. But an even greater truth is that when our heart changes, everything changes.” It’s the heart lesson that proves the hardest to learn for Doty as he boldly masters medical school to become a noted neurosurgeon and investment multimillionaire. Meditation and visualization are great for “journeying inward… but without wisdom and insight (opening the heart) the techniques can result in self-absorption, narcissism, and isolation.” The inward voyage, he argues, is meant to lead a person to “go outward and connect with others.” Doty’s advice in this rags-to-riches tale is inspirational and the mindfulness techniques he advocates are clearly documented. Chris, this sounds like a book your students may enjoy and benefit from.

  11. Chris says:

Thanks for the book recommendation, Peggy.

Tina: “Just think…maybe he’ll make Sarah his running mate, they’ll win,”

It’s not going to happen. In 2008 Palin sunk the campaign of a Republican who was ten times more qualified, serious and civil than Trump at his best, and she’s only gotten nuttier since then. Neither has a chance of winning a national election. You don’t seem to understand that in order to win a candidate has to reach the middle, not just the far right; Trump is a joke to the majority of the nation.

“and you can spend the next eight years writing crappy character assassinations; you seem to enjoy it so much”

Character assassinations? Oh come on. Nothing I can say about those two can possibly make them look worse than they already are.

Remember when Sarah Palin used her disabled son to score political points by ranting about imaginary “death panels” that were going to decide whether or not to determine whether or not he was worthy of living?

Well, it’s possible she’s found a new low: Today she used her older son’s domestic violence arrest to score political points against Obama, and subtly blamed him for her son’s behavior. Personal responsibility! Yay!

    The woman is sick.

    http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/sarah-palin-son-obama-veterans_us_569fe217e4b0fca5ba765928

    • Chris says:

Some vets have already criticized Palin’s politicization of her son’s PTSD and charge of domestic violence:

“Don’t blame President Obama for the PTSD that Sarah Palin claims her oldest son is battling.

That was the message Wednesday from the head of a New York City-based veteran’s organization that has fought for years to get Iraq and Afghanistan war vets help with their post traumatic stress disorder.

“It’s not President Obama’s fault that Sarah Palin’s son has PTSD,” said Paul Rieckhoff, who heads Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). “PTSD is a very serious problem, a complicated mental health injury and I would be extremely reluctant to blame any one person in particular.”

Rieckhoff weighed in after Palin said her son Track’s arrest on domestic violence charges this week stemmed from the PTSD he contracted after serving with the Army in Iraq — and because of Obama’s supposed lack of “respect” for veterans…”

It may be the other way around.

Think Progress, “Suicide Rate Among Young Veterans Has Tripled, Report Finds”

Just 32 percent of military veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as president, according to a new poll from the Washington Post and the Kaiser Family Foundation. In a related question, only 42 percent of those surveyed said they believe Obama is a “good commander-in-chief of the military.” Forty eight percent said he is not.

    Truth and Action:

Retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely…”“Obama is intentionally weakening and gutting our military, Pentagon and reducing us as a superpower, and anyone in the ranks who disagrees or speaks out is being purged.”

    Morning Call

The House recently had to take emergency action and repurpose funding to cover a $3 billion shortfall that resulted because the VA failed to properly budget for the current fiscal year. Veterans could have been denied health care, and some VA hospitals could have closed.

These executive-level failures have become commonplace at the VA. When information regarding the deadly waiting list scandal at the VA Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., became apparent, Congress took action to provide the VA with the authority to remove incompetent administrators and to allow veterans to seek care outside of the VA system by passing the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act.

However, VA leadership has failed to hold its own accountable, and the scandals and boondoggles continue. Consider the $1 billion cost overrun for a VA hospital being built in Aurora, Colo., the malpractice of overprescribing pain medications to veterans at the Tomah, Wisc., VA Medical Center or the mismanagement displayed at the Philadelphia VA office tasked with processing benefits and pension claims for veterans.

    America’s veterans deserve better.

    Yes they do.

    • Chris says:

How does that justify Sarah Palin excusing her son’s domestic abuse arrest, making him out to be the victim rather than the woman he allegedly abused, and using it to score political points? Do you really think that was the proper response? If it was your son, would you have said what Palin said?

  13. Tina says:

Hillary Clinton made herself and her husband out to be the victims in case after case of alleged physical and emotional abuse, including rape, to turn the political tables. How do her left supporters justify their continued support?

In fact just, when will the left hold this criminal couple accountable?

    • Chris says:

Tina: “Hillary Clinton made herself and her husband out to be the victims in case after case of alleged physical and emotional abuse, including rape, to turn the political tables. How do her left supporters justify their continued support?”

Why do you have this idea that you should respond to questions with questions? Why must you always deflect? Why must you always draw moral equivalences instead of just acknowledging unethical behavior?

In any case, I’ll answer your question:

The Clintons’ position is that the sexual assault and rape charges against Bill are untrue. If that’s the case, then they have every right to portray themselves as being unfairly attacked by false accusers. I don’t know if these accusations are true or false; but the Clintons’ official position is at least internally consistent.

Now listen to Sarah Palin talk about the charges against her son. Nowhere did she deny the allegations against him. In fact, her speech about her son’s PTSD doesn’t make any sense unless she is tacitly acknowledging that Track did commit the crime he is accused of. An excerpt:

“I can talk personally about this, I guess it’s kind of the elephant in the room. My son like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened, they come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military so sacrificially have given to this country. And that starts from the top. It’s a shame that our military personnel even have to wonder, if they have to question, if they’re respected anymore. It starts from the top. The question though that comes from our own president where they have to look at him and wonder, do you know what we go through? Do you know what we’re trying to do to secure America and to secure the freedoms that have been bequeathed us? So when my own son is going through what he goes through coming back, I can certainly relate with other families who kind of feel these ramifications of some PTSD and some of the woundedness that our soldiers do return with.”

This is completely different from denying a charge and then claiming to the be the victim of a false accusation. Palin all but confirmed that her son did abuse his girlfriend–but then she absolved him of all responsibility; expressed sympathy with only him, not his victim; implied that PTSD causes men to become domestic abusers; and used the incident to score political points.

The two situations are obviously different.

You’ve made a lot of these false comparisons recently. You’ve told me before that I’m “unable to make distinctions,” but to me that statement applies more to you than it does to me.

Since I’ve answered your question, I hope you will answer the one I asked you first: Do you think Palin’s remarks were appropriate? If it were your son, would you have said the same?

  14. Tina says:

Palins remarks spoke to the concerns of a lot of parents, wives, children, and friends that are faced with dealing with the problems associated with PTSD and all of the various other injuries suffered by our military men and women. I think her remarks are reflective of those in the military that have said they do not feel supported by this administration…and they are many.

I don’t think, at least concerning the quote above, that Palin was addressing the situation between her son and his girlfriend at all.

According to Huffington Post his arrest occurred just hours before her endorsement:

…arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman and carrying a gun while intoxicated, police in the family’s Alaska hometown said on Tuesday.

The arrest came just hours before Palin, the politician-turned-reality TV star, endorsed Donald Trump

So the charge is “suspicion” of assault, not guilty of assault. I have no knowledge of what the girlfriend is thinking or doing about what happened…pretty sure you don’t either. It’s a private relationship. The son will have his day in court.

It’s quite possible that Palin’s remarks were written before this charge against her son occurred and she chose to deliver them anyway because she felt it was important to call attention to the situation with our veterans. (See above links in another comment) Besides, she knows that as soon as she opens her mouth the media will find ways to attack her family, just as they did before.

Palins family members are not any different than family members of other politicians, including the Clintons.: “The younger brother of Bill Clinton has been arrested for drunk driving near his home town of Torrance, LA.,” and “Roger Clinton, half-brother of President Bill Clinton, was arrested in Hermosa Beach, California in February 2001 and charged with drunk driving,” and “During his brother’s presidential campaign and subsequent administration, Clinton was given the codename “Headache” by the Secret Service due to his controversial behavior.[7] In 2001, before his brother left office, Clinton was granted a presidential pardon for a 1985 cocaine possession conviction for which he had served a year in prison. The pardon allowed for the conviction to be expunged from his criminal record.”

    The press yawned.

Yes, I would use my son, with his permission, as an example of the failure of my government to properly support the military during and after their service! They deserve better!!!!!

I believe Juanita Broderick, Kathleen Willy, and the many other women that have come forth to say BC raped or sexually abused them. I think they deserve to be respected. Instead they have been called all kinds of names by a press that turned a blind eye and devoted themselves to propping up the Clinton presidency. The Clinton’s position and actions during the nineties, as well as their position today, is in direct conflict with Hillary’s campaign remarks, “Today I want to send a message to every survivor of sexual assault. Don’t let anyone silence your voice. You have the right to be heard. You have the right to be believed and we’re with you.”

The Clintons and their supporters referred these women in the press with names like bimbos, sluts, trailer trash, and worse.

Believe whatever you like; I could give a rats bum.

  15. Chris says:

Tina: “I don’t think, at least concerning the quote above, that Palin was addressing the situation between her son and his girlfriend at all.”

She referred to the “elephant in the room.” What could that possibly refer to other than that situation?

    “Believe whatever you like”

Tina, you’re the one choosing to believe things that are obviously not true. Everyone who heard that excerpt from Palin’s speech knew she was talking about her son’s arrest. You are the only person I’ve seen, on the right or left, say that she wasn’t referencing that. Isn’t it more likely that you are interpreting her wrong, not the rest of the world?

“Palins family members are not any different than family members of other politicians, including the Clintons”

The difference is that Palin has made her family members campaign/attention-seeking issues. Just like when she exploited her son’s disability to lie about death panels, she is now exploiting her son’s PTSD and arrest to score political points. It’s disgusting, and you shouldn’t defend it.

But she’s one of your tribe, so of course you will.

  16. Chris says:

I have not seen any veterans defend Palin’s comments so far. I showed you one veterans’ group which spoke out against Palin’s “politicization” of PTSD; have you seen any that have defended her statements?

Other vets have spoken out too. From Business Insider:

“Phil Klay, author of “Redeployment,” an award-winning collection of short stories on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, tweeted an op-ed article he wrote for The Wall Street Journal on veteran stereotypes “in light of [the] recent ‘his deployment made him hit his girlfriend’ argument.”

“For a certain subset of the population, my service means that I — along with all other veterans — must be, in some ill-defined way, broken,” Klay wrote. “I suppose it is the lot of soldiers and Marines to be objectified according to the politics of the day and the mood of the American people about their war.”

Klay also said the crime rate for veterans was “comparable to, if not lower than, the civilian crime rate.”

Several veterans called out Palin directly. Paul Rieckhoff, who heads Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, told NBC News that Palin should “resist the urge to politicize” PTSD.

More than 100 people, meanwhile, retweeted the first of several tweets from Nate Bethea, a veteran who is studying fiction writing at Brooklyn College…”

The article shows many other reactions as well. If you really want to know what vets are saying, you should read it.
