Don’t be Concerned; Islamic Terror Continues

While President Obama gets on with life as usual, dancing, playing golf and cuddling up to sponsors of terror, the world is beset by problems associated with the radical Islamic threat.

The New York Times reported today that deaths from Islamic terrorism are up 60% last year. The figure comes from a study conducted by the Institute for Economics and Peace which found that four-fifths of the almost 18,000 fatalities attributed to terrorism last year occurred in five countries, Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan and Syria. Most of those deaths, 6,300, were in Iraq, the nation our military fought, bled, and died to liberate and secure under George Bush. Another study by the British group Maplecroft’s Terrorism and Security Dashboard (MTSD) claims terror deaths have risen 30 per cent compared to the previous five-year average.

According to the dashboard, Iraq has endured the highest number of attacks in the last year with 3,158 incidents, while terrorism in Nigeria is the world’s deadliest, recording the highest number of deaths per attack, with an average of 24.

The dashboard, which draws on Maplecroft’s seven years of global data to reveal terrorism and security trends across the 197 countries, found that China, Egypt, Kenya and Libya have seen the most significant increases in the risk of terrorist attacks.

Recent events of note:

A Pakistani Taliban group, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, has taken responsibility for a suicide bomber attack at a park in Lahore and indicated it specifically targeted the Christian’s who were there celebrating Easter with their children. 65 are reported dead and 300 Injured with the death toll expected to rise. The Daily Mail has the story and pictures.

An Indian Catholic Priest was kidnapped after terrorists murdered several nuns at Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in Yemen. It’s feared that the priest, Father Thomas Uzhunnalil, was crucified on Good Friday.

Belgian authorities conducted13 raids on Sunday and arrested nine people they believe are associated with the Brussels attack. The dead toll from the attack has risen to 35 following the deaths of three people who were hospitalized. FOX News confirms four Americans were among those Murdered by Islamic bombers in Brussels:

Four Americans are confirmed to have been killed in last week’s terror attacks in Brussels, the State Department said late Sunday.

A State Department official confirmed the deaths of two additional U.S. citizens in a brief statement, but declined to identify them. The statement expressed “our deepest condolences” to those who had lost loved ones. The department initially said Friday that two Americans had died in the attacks.

Remarks made by CIA Director John Brennen have been re-posted due to what has been called a “startling” admission:

[ISIS] was, you know, pretty much decimated when US forces were there in Iraq. It had maybe 700-or-so adherents left. And then it grew quite a bit in the last several years, when it split then from al-Qaida in Syria, and set up its own organization.

The off the cuff remarks came in the questions period following his speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. If Gatewaay Pundit has done the math right, that’s an increase of 4400%.

John Kerry, meanwhile, is embarrassed by the rhetoric of Republican candidates for president. I guess that’s because his party’s record on Islamic terror has been such a fantastic success.

One Response to Don’t be Concerned; Islamic Terror Continues

Jerusalem Post lends a hat tip to the Obama administration, as long as the administrations goal was to diminish and ratnish america’s standing in the world:

Assad is improving his bargaining position in talks with the opposition on a diplomatic solution, while in the background, surprisingly, the fragile cease-fire has been holding for the better part of a month. Assad’s improving position is turning from a problem to a solution and serving to further highlight the failure of US President Barack Obama’s Middle East policy. (emphasis mine)

The article explains how Assad’s forces, with assistance from Russia, Iran, Hezbollah fighters and Afghani Shi’ite militiamen has greatly decimated and diminished ISIS.

What a different world we might be living in today had the Obama administration, including then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, simply continued in the vein of the previous President. Russia’s success mirrors what a firm commitment by Obama to pay attention to the advice of generals and intelligence community and defeat the terrorist threat would look like. In fact, had he given any real attention to his job as Commander-in-Chief this problem would not have arisen.
