Trumps Mistake: He Didn’t Bother to Play on the Political Gameboard

Posted by Tina

Donald Trump is used to the business world. He’s well known for bragging about his success in that game. His accomplishment came, in part, by knowing the rules, even when they worked against him and overcoming obstacles. When he jumped into the political game he made a huge mistake. He didn’t bother to read and understand the rules of the game and he didn’t bother to put a strategy together for winning. Donald made an error in thinking that his business acumen, his blunt manner, and the distrust and distress among the electorate would be enough to take him to the presidency. Trump played fast and loose in a game that requires strategy and grass roots planning.

The Wall Street Journal points to the dedication and commitment required to win on the ground using Cruz in contrast:

Ted Cruz has been relentless, since he was elected to the Senate, about visiting caucus states early and often. He lingered, focused on getting to know the players on the ground, and built an organization to leverage these relationships. Mr. Cruz has worked potential delegates for years. The Trump campaign is only now trying to get to know them. Indeed, the Trump organization has been so disorganized that two of Mr. Trump’s children did not register as Republicans in time to vote for their father in the New York primary.

Little things matter in a campaign. Trump is learning his lessons a little late, which has made this campaign season more contentious and divisive than it needed to be. Sadly his penchant for pouting when things don’t go his way doesn’t help. If trump wants to win he needs to find a way to win in this game…this isn’t a TV reality show, it’s politics and it the game is tough and deadly serious.

Will Republicans have a nominee that can win when all is said and done? Maybe not if we become so pigheaded about our favored candidate that we undermine ourselves even before the larger contest! Hillary anyone?

It’s time to calm down, knock off the wild accusations, and keep our eyes on the prize. IF Trump wants this gig let him win it playing the game he signed up to play just like the rest in the field must.

  1. Dewster says:

Explain to me what is grass roots about Ted Cruz?

Trump is a dangerous man but he is more grass roots than Ted.

Cruz is not grass roots he is Tea Party Establishment

There is only 1 Grass Roots Candidate which is very Sad, There should be more.

BTW The people fund Bernie in a large way. Where does Ted’s money come from?

  2. Tina says:

Tell me Dewey, what is so special about the grass roots?

Like it or don’t, we are all “the people,” rich, poor, and in between.

See where Ted’s money comes from here. Like Bernie a lot of it comes from individual donors.

Ted Cruz is the only Congressman I’ve ever seen stand up to his own party and demand they do what they said they would do when running for election. He is also knowledgeable about the Constitution, principled, steady and very smart. Our economy needs such a man in the WH. Four more years like we’ve had will be disastrous economically. He would make an excellent president.

Campaign information that to me indicates Ted Cruz would be a good strategist and planner, a trait that has been sorely lacking in our current seat of the pants leader, is brought to us via National Review. This trait would serve him well in military and foreign affairs as well as economic policy. Ted, as it turns out, actually knows and plays by the rules…and he plans ahead. Given how well his ground game is going it’s obvious he knows how to delegate.

Others have remarked that Ted Cruz treats those who work with him with deep respect and is genuinely interested in their opinions and thoughts.

I think Ted Cruz is exactly what America needs right now…a steady, reliable, hard working and honest (Sorry Donald) planner, who will from day one work to get the people working again, stand strong against our enemies, relieve us of the burdens of Obamacare and Dodd/Frank and rescue us from failing immigration and border issues.

“Like it or don’t, we are all “the people,” rich, poor, and in between.”

    Ya Think?
And all people should have the same rights.

Ted Cruz? it is principled to run a scam on the People in his fake shut down costing us millions? He knew darn well what he was doing, I have his town hall recorded just prior.

Even Ran Paul ran a real filibuster, what did Cruz do? Read Dr Suess?
Cruz is not ethical by any means.

Also the Tea party took over the GOP just as the Third Way took over the DNC.

Ted Cruz is a snake in the grass. He even turned on his ol buddy GW Bush!

Rafael Cruz was born in Canada. That is a whole legal discussion.

His father says he is the “Anointed One” also he talks of Castro’s tyranny but never mentions the fact that he supported the Cuban communist leader’s revolution against Batista.

It is a family business. Their religion shall not dictate to all.

Cruz’s actions speak differently than his words. You just keep believing and we will make sure that nutjob is never President. I rather have Trump!

Now there is a post about there is no war on women or Birth control let’s look at Cruz:

Repeats the misguided conservative talking point that the birth control coverage rule included in Obamacare forces employers to cover abortion-inducing pills.

    Cruz calls Birth Control “abortifacients”

Cruz pledged to support a constitutional amendment that would effectively ban several forms of birth control to protect “the civil rights of the pre-born at an embryonic or fetal level.”

Cruz either does not understand the science of how birth control works or is purposely lying. He is a warrior to ban Birth Control and a crazy Religious Zealot

Bottom Line it seems you support dictatorship. You think it is OK for a Minority Party to block everything for their own beliefs. You think the country should bow down to the “Conservative” Does not matter that everybody have rights?
