I heard this radio show today (650 am at 0730) talking about the number of death threats the candidates are getting and I mean [ALL] the candidates, not just Donald Trump; although he’s got more than his share from what appears to be leftwing screwballs. They read some of the threats on the air and it was disgusting.
Hillary and Bernie have their haters too, and it looks like most are coming from each others camps. This sort of junk makes me sick as a voter and a citizen. What’s wrong with our people? What does it say about our society when literally thousands of people can use some form of social media to send death threats to presidential candidates almost every day? Very few are ever held accountable, but I wish every single one was.
To be perfectly honest, I would not want to be working in the Secret Service these days. They truly have their work cut out for them. I don’t think it’s possible to protect our candidates adequately with so many high risk death threats verses so many whistle stops and all the glad handing the candidates must do. It’s pure luck that one of them hasn’t been assaulted or worse. In this regard I have to say, I at least admire their courage to forge ahead, knowing at any second it could be over for them.
Well, lets just hope their luck holds up, but I’m not optimistic. The level of hate out here is just too high, too much intensity on all sides and sooner or later you know somebody is going over the edge, they are going to make a move and I can only hope the Secret Service nails them before they can do whatever it is they have planned. And if they do succeed, well, there’s no punishment severe enough. To me, this would be like an attack on our liberty, on our country… it would be an intolerable offense and they should pay the ultimate price, whether or not they kill a candidate.
To be honest I would never want to be a Secret Service Agent assigned to Hillary Clinton.

Diplomacy and international relations under Obama have created a mess; they’ve really mucked things up with allies and enemies alike.
The situation with the Saudi’s is complex, the family is so big. The Saudi King made a huge commitment in 2004 to fight terrorism:
Obama making nice with Iran certainly hasn’t helped.

The next president will sure have a big mess to clean up. I’m not sure this legislation will work as intended or help us diplomatically.
When I was a Special Agent, I happened to have a co-worker who had been on the protective detail for the Clintons when they were at the White House. She said Hillary and the daughter treated them like dirt. She cursed them and ordered them around like servants. Incidentally, years before that, I had a co-worker who had been with the Cal state police protecting the Regans. He said they were wonderful people, always treating them with respect. Ron knew each of their names and always asked about their families. On cold nights during guard duty on the outside grounds, Nancy would bring out coffee and cookies for them.
The Reagans were gracious people. The Clintons reside at the other end of the spectrum.

Jack you and I have both tried to elevate discussions about the importance of social manners and discipline. It’s troubling that there doesn’t seem to be much push back for bad manners and thug behavior in our society. In fact we’ve celebrated it. Nobody likes being a killjoy but it’s gone too far.
I went looking for instances where people were charged for death threats against the candidates and found one. Some 15 yr. old was charged with “the offense of terroristic threats and acts” for making death threats against Trump on social media. The kid apparently had a record.
Why him and no others? If there are other instances of prosecution shouldn’t they be high profile to send a message?
I also read an article. The professor was looking back in history and mentioned JFK, RFK, MLK, Wallace but no mention of RR. I mention this because if we do send messages they should be nonpartisan. This goes to respect for human life and basic common decency.
I wouldn’t want to guard Hillary either…or Bill.
