Terror in Tel Aviv – Terror Threat Quashed in Europe

The Jerusalem Post provides details on the terror attack in Tel Aviv today (yesterday):

Four people were killed and several others wounded in a coordinated terrorist assault on Tel Aviv’s Sarona Market Wednesday evening, in one of the deadliest attacks in the city since Palestinian violence erupted last October.

Tel Aviv Police head Asst.-Ch. Moshe Edri called the shooting a “serious terrorist attack,” saying that two terrorists came to the market and opened fire randomly at civilians. Eyewitnesses said that the terrorists were disguised as religious Jews and wore kippot.

Edri said the police did not have warnings of a terrorist attack at the site.

Kiev: Ukraine’s state security service said on Monday a French citizen detained in late May on the border with Poland had been planning attacks in France to coincide with the Euro 2016 football championship it is hosting.

The Ukrainian border guard service reported on Saturday that the unnamed 25-year-old had been arrested with an arsenal of weapons and explosives including rocket launchers and Kalashnikov assault rifles in his vehicle.

SBU chief Vasyl Hrytsak said the man had made contact with armed groups in Ukraine with the aim of buying weapons and explosives. In Paris, a French police source said a raid on the suspect’s home in France had uncovered ingredients for homemade explosives.

His intended targets included Jewish and Muslim places of worship and buildings involved with the soccer tournament, Hrytsak said. French government administration buildings, including those dealing with tax collection, were also a target

“The Frenchman spoke negatively about his government’s actions, mass immigration, the spread of Islam and globalisation, and also talked about plans to carry out several terrorist attacks,” Hrytsak told journalists.

President Obama has warned Americans traveling to Europe of possible threats that could include Euro 2016 which opens in France on Friday

Two Palestinian boys. Must you hyperbolize everything?

When you consider how savage is life on the West Bank under occupation, it’s a wonder there is not a whole lot more of this sort of thing. Israel made this bed, and they can just suffer it, as far as I’m concerned.

    • Tina says:

      Must you hyperbolize everything?

      Excuse me?

I think you’ve injected more fantasy. In what way have I engaged in hyperbole?

As long as your noticing details of the story that I did not post did you happen to notice these “boys” (Likely trained in one of those hate and murder the Jews schools) murdered a small child in their rampage killing?

Geez Libs, why all the hate?

  2. Libby says:

And, uh, don’t the Frenchie sound like one of yours?

  3. Tina says:

Yeah, in the same way that Bill Ayers sounds like one of yours…

1968: He rose to national prominence as an SDS leader in 1968 and 1969 as head of an SDS regional group, the “Jesse James Gang”.

1969: In June 1969, the Weathermen took control of the SDS at its national convention, where Ayers was elected Education Secretary.

1969: Ayers participated in the Days of Rage riot in Chicago in October 1969, and in December was at the “War Council” meeting in Flint, Michigan.

1970: In 1970, The New York Times called Ayers “a national leader” of the Weatherman organization and “one of the chief theoreticians of the Weathermen”.

1970: There also he met Diana Oughton, who would become his girlfriend until her death in 1970 after a bomb exploded while preparing the bombs for Weather Underground activities.

Must I remind you too of recent events in San Jose and older events surrounding Fergusson.

    You are one sick broad!

    • Libby says:

      Can’t take it, huh?

I’m not the one reveling in violence that feeds me paranoia. The fact is the Palestinians are in custody, the Frenchie is in custody, and even if they weren’t, none of this has anything to do with you,or your life … except in that you seize upon it to feed your paranoia.

I am not the sickie in this one.

      • Tina says:

An interest in world affairs is not an indication of paranoia Libby.

And of course YOU are not interested…nor do you find it your “business.” That’s why your first response was, “When you consider how savage is life on the West Bank under occupation…”

Tell us Libs…who is responsible for the “savage conditions?”

Mind you…my sick comment concerned violence in America. Violence you pretend is not promoted by and connected to your political party.

A terrorist is a terrorist, in particular when they are carefully taught and groomed from the time they’re toddlers. Supposedly you hate bigotry. Guess not.

  4. Pie Guevara says:

Re : Israel made this bed, and they can just suffer it, as far as I’m concerned.

Well, there you have it folks. Progressives think that Israel deserves to be attacked by terrorists. Libby could not have made that any clearer.

These progressive people are mentally ill.

    • Tina says:

Deranged! Not a drop of reason or logic. Auto-denial of pertinent facts.

How do you justify making the terrorist the victim? I can see the notion that the terrorist kids have been used and brainwashed by their parents and teachers and in that way are victims…but they are still the bad guy. One of them is being treated in an Israeli hospital, if you can believe that (He was critical so may have died)

I just re-read the article and the following caught my eye:

Gadi Eisenkot, Mordechai ordered the freezing of 204 entrance permits for relatives of the attackers. Additionally, 83,000 permits for Palestinians in the West Bank to visit family members in Gaza have been revoked, and all easing of security measures for Gaza Strip residents during Ramadan, particularly access to Temple Mount prayers, have been cancelled.

Gee temporary bans…imagine that! (‘Probably send Libby into convulsions)

      • Libby says:

I can’t discuss this with historical ignoramuses who can’t think beyond platitude and prejudice. Israel took a wrong turning 30 years ago. Until they realize this and grant the Palestinians their state, Israel is doomed to a lengthy and messy demise.

The most recent incident as a tiny splatter on the road to it.

        • Tina says:

The Israelis don’t have the power to “grant them” their state!

They have endeavored to see that state officially established many times through peace talks and agreements only to see the agreements broken. No big surprise since the terrorists that do have power are still teaching the children in school to hate the Jews and to grow up and strap bombs around their waists as bombers! People that would do something that freakin’ sick have no interest in a nation to call home. Or if they do they will only accept it after they manage to murder all of the Jews.

You can;t make an agreement with people that only want to see you dead.

          YOU CAN’T NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS!

  5. J. Soden says:

Years ago, the Israelis built a wall to cut down terror attacks from Palestine. And it worked! Someone else is correctly advocating that WE build a wall . . . .

And just a few months ago, the Israelis threatened to close the market due to lack of security where the latest attack took place. Israel was right both times.

  6. Tina says:

In fact both the Israelis and the Egyptians have had to built walls.

This article demonstrates just how messed up this administrations chaotic, inept, foreign policy has been:

Cairo — Reports that Egypt is building a steel underground wall along its border with the Hamas-run Gaza Strip have fueled speculation about what exactly Cairo intends to accomplish with the project, which British newspapers claim is being carried out with the help of the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The immediate objective is obvious: to severely disrupt the flourishing smuggling trade carried out in an extensive subterranean network of tunnels under the border. The smugglers provide everything from food to weapons for Gazans, who are largely cut off from the outside world due to an Israeli blockade.

Analysts disagree, however, about Egypt’s broader goals, which appear contradictory and are obscured by the fact that Cairo has yet to acknowledge the existence of the project. But it appears that Egypt is trying to strike a balance between remaining a key ally of the US while at the same time shoring up its position as an influential player in a neighborhood that often views Washington unfavorably.

“Egypt is walking a tightrope between its commitments to Arabs and directly to the Palestinian cause and at the same time its commitment to enhancing international security,” says Gamal Soltan, political analyst at the Al-Ahram Center in Cairo, a government-funded think tank.

But constructing a wall is a significant departure from the mere rhetoric Egypt has used to exert pressure in the past. This time, Egypt’s balancing act might backfire, especially given that fact that the Arab world was highly critical of Egypt for closing the Rafah border during the Israeli incursion on Gaza last year and cooperating with Israel on the economic blockade.

“You have operation Cast Lead basically flattening Gaza and Operation ‘Metal Wall’ on the Egyptian side strangling the Gazan population even further. These are impressions and perceptions that the Egyptian government does not need,” says Adel Iskandar, professor of media and communications at Georgetown University in Washington.

And Iran, a major sponsor of terrorism, was just handed access to a bunch of money to continue in their sponsorship:

Blockquote>The United States has accused Iran of sponsoring terrorist organizations for decades, but in the post-9/11 era, the allegations have taken on added significance. Despite Iran’s assistance following the U.S.-led campaign to oust the Taliban from Afghanistan, Iran was labeled part of an axis of evil–which also included Iraq and North Korea–by President George W. Bush in 2002. In March 2006, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, “Iran has been the country that has been in many ways a kind of central banker for terrorism in important regions like Lebanon through Hezbollah in the Middle East, in the Palestinian Territories, and we have deep concerns about what Iran is doing in the south of Iraq.” For these reasons, in October 2007 the United States added Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to its list of foreign terrorist organizations, and has continued to link economic sanctions to alleged support for militants. In June 2010, the UN Security Council approved a fourth round of sanctions, expanding on its list of targeted Iranian entities–including members of the IRGC.

The people in Europe have constructed make-shift walls to try to stem the massive flow of refugees too.

But as the prez says, “We’re making progress.”
