UPDATE: I did my walking and enjoyed it so much I went twice as far as I planned. I walked all the way to downtown and back. While downtown I watched four bums passing a crack/marijuana/hash pipe in that paved over park next to the downtown post office. They were also smoking up a storm with cigs. Wonder how it is that our bums can afford cigarettes and whatever else they had in that pipe? This was about noon, so they probably were just waking up. I’m sure glad we built the bum hotel on Park Ave. for them. It’s worked like a magnet, they come from all over for our great accomodations. Then they show their appreciation by laying around the downtown park all day. Most of the bums I saw there today were under 30 and they looked pretty fit to me.

How can they afford the stuff you mention, well lets see what Chico tax payers gives them for free, Clothes, shelter, food, medical assistance is available at emergency rooms, Heck we tax payers even built them a playground with a fountain shower, and a bathroom, that could double as a sleeping room if they get too high. And pretty soon given the sustainable direction of our City Council, Marijuana will be available everywhere, although that not free, YET!, and from the appearance of some areas neither is TP. Ain’t life grand if you don’t have to work for it!
They were dress really well too, no rags on these bums. Nice backpacks, they were wearing two layers of clothes, all had some sort of caps and heavy boots too. There was short haired young dog of some sort with them and he looked well fed. Yeah, life must be good.
PS When they had the so-called VETS HELPING VETS at the Elks Club I notice at least 60% of those showing up weere young bums, they never did a lick of service and they were taking all sorts of new clothing items and new boots, they were sure greedy about what they could rip off. Some tried to come back for seconds.
Apparently giveing away items set aside for VETS ONLY is okay with the organizers because they took pitty on these poor, helpless, victims of society. I was a voluteer there and it made me ill. This isn’t right and I am going to let them know about it. You are supposed to give this stuff to those vets who deserved it and not to any bum on dope. Heck these young losers wouldn’t even voluteer to help us! Just gimmeee, gimmee
