Missionary Killed in Mexico

by Jack Lee

Yesterday Missionary Nancy Davis, 59, and her husband Sam were traveling on a Mexican highway near the city of San Fernando, Mexico, when they were confronted by gunmen in a black pickup. Sam attempted to evade the men. But, during the pursuit one of the gunmen opened fire and his bullet struck Mrs. Davis in the head. Sam drove to the nearby Pharr International Bridge, which crosses the Rio Grande and into McAllen, Texas where Nancy Davis was pronounced dead at the McAllen Hospital. The Davis’ were well aware of dangers in Mexico and had been shot at before, but according to friends they so loved the Mexican people they continued their missionary work.
