This woman’s actions were repugnant, and she was fired for it. The agenda behind this video hoax was just as repugnant. Live Action was trying to manufacture a scandal that didn’t exist in order to destroy the reputation of Planned Parenthood. James “Sex Boat” O’Keefe did the same thing with his ACORN videos, and by the time it was determined that the organization as a whole was guilty of no wrongdoing, Congress had already voted to take away ACORN’S funding. Lila Rose, the woman behind this latest hoax, is a protege of O’Keefe’s and hoped that she could get similar results. Unfortunately for her, almost every Planned Parenthood office she visited reported to the authorities immediately, even though many of them were pretty sure it was all a hoax. Make no mistake, the people behind these scams don’t care about real victims of child sex trafficking, otherwise they wouldn’t be causing false reports, which interfere with investigations into actual crimes. Their only motive is to destroy perfectly legal operations which they happen to politically disagree with, while making a name for themselves in the process.
Chris, it makes me wonder why they would do a sting in the first place. Did they have some reason or were they just fishing? Even if they were fishing, it should not have happened. We agree on that much. But, was the fishing for wrong doing equal to actually believing you were aiding and abetting a couple in a child sex ring? I don’t think so – miles apart in my opinion.
Jack, you’re right. I was being hyperbolic, to a point which damaged my argument. Apologies. Of course aiding a child sex slave ring is not in the same moral plane as what Live Action did.
Still, I do think they were just fishing–I have never heard of any connection between PP and such criminal activity, and their policy is to report incidents such as this, which they did about a month before the videos were released.
No big Chris…glad we’re on the same side here. As a former police officer we did sting operations on occassions. For example, we took an under age person around to purchase alcohol from vaious stores and then cited them when they took the bait. Personally, I didn’t like doing that because I felt it was a moral wrong although technically legal. It was widely practiced sting and it did some good – so I do share your concerns about such things, we have to be very careful about how we use them. .
