Misleading Headlines Divert Focus and Change Debate!!!

by Jack Lee

The MM headlines are misleading and attempt to divert attention away from the real issues as Representative King’s inquiries proceed. The media will show you headlines trying the link the King inquires to McCarthyism, bigotry, witch hunts, etc., but they won’t focus on the subject…Islamic terrorism inside America.

All you have to do today to make a convincing argument to libs and the liberal media is be politically correct as you sob your heart out in front of a news camera. Then you’ll completely divert attention away from the real issues to something that has nothing to do with the subject at hand, Muslim extremism in America.

We’re such a stupid, stupid people.

Rep. King had a line-up of witnesses that included some folks that would testify how their sons had been seduced into terrorism by Muslim extremists operating out of Mosques in America. For example Marvin Bledsoe’s son attacked an Army recruiting center in Arkansas. Bledsoe said, “There is a big elephant in the room, but our society continues not to see it. This wrong is caused by political correctness. You can even call it political fear,”

Bledsoe described how his son, Carlos, was radicalized after he went off to college. In his testimony, he explained his son’s personality changed when he returned home for the holidays in 2005. He told his family he had converted to Islam. From that point, he changed his name and eventually traveled to Yemen.

Bledsoe said, “Some Muslim leaders had taken advantage of my son. But he’s not the only one being taken advantage of. This is going on in Nashville and in many other cities in America,” Bledsoe plans to say. “In Nashville, Carlos was captured by people best described as hunters. He was manipulated and lied to. That’s how he made his way to Yemen.”

In a letter to the judge, Bledsoe’s son wrote, “Separate letter to the judge:

“I’m writing this because I want to plead guilty. To all charges I face…I’m affiliated with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Member of Abu Basir’s Army. This was a jihad attack on infidel forces…I believe it was justified…according to Islamic laws and the Islamic religion. Jihad to fight those who wage war on Islam and Muslims… I’m Al-Qaeda,”

But, this was not the story you read in the news. The leftist news today was awash with negative comments linking Rep. King to McCarthy. They were calling his inquiry a witch hunt and insinuating he was an Islamaphob. CAIR launched a major publicity front to demonize King. And our PC media focused on clips of Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison crying his eyes out as he tried to tell a story about a heroic Muslim EMT killed during 9-11.

Not one person at that low point had the guts to ask: What the $@# has that got to do with this committee? What relevance has that story to do with assessing the risk of foreign jihadists recruiting American Muslims for terrorism? If you’re a thinking person, the answer is obvious, nothing! But, if you are one of the tens of millions of morons that make up the left-wing of American politics the emotion of that moment convinced you there’s no problem – this is about evil republicans, not evil terrorists. And as sure as I’m sitting here typing this story, some wackadoodle is going show up and blast Rep. King for daring to ask questions about Islamic extremism in America. Tis better to bury your head in the sand, its the politically correct thing to do.

I wish I could hit the fast forward button now so we could all see where this foolish denial is going to take us, but then again it should be obvious.

I ran across an article in National Review last night that questions the validity of Congressman Keith Ellison’s claims about Mohammed Salman Hamdani:

After the tragedy some people tried to smear his character solely because of his Islamic faith. Some people spread false rumors and speculated that he was in league with the attackers only because he was Muslim.

As Matthew Shaffer points out, there is little evidence to back up this claim and a lot of evidence to the contrary:

Theres little evidence of the rumors of which Ellison speaks, either. Poke around yourself. Go to Google and search for Mohammed Salman Hamdanis name, using various time frames from before todays hearings (say, in the week after the September 11 attack). Youll discover two discordant sets of returns: none for sites and news reports accusing Hamdani of being a terrorist, and many thousands of pages honoring him as a hero while claiming that he was widely accused of being a terrorist.

The left decides emotionally what it fears will be true, those mean hateful islamophobic conservatives are gonna be mean to all Muslims, and then sets about to make it real by reporting it over and over. What a bunch of fabricators!

It’s a good article; find it here:

“CAIR launched a major publicity front to demonize King.”

An unendicted co-conspirator never misses an opportunity to launch another salvo!

This headline is in very poor taste.

  3. Tina says:

OH…it should also be noted that Congress has held he
hearings on other groups and “hate”:

Congressional Hearings – A New York World expos on the Klan’s violence, corruption, and religious intolerance was the catalyst for a House investigation that began in October 1921 and lasted just over a week. The House Rules Committee hearings evolved into a forum not only for those speaking against the Klan but also for members of the “Invisible Empire” pleading its case. Simmons, the Klan’s organizer, stressed the organization’s fraternal and benevolent nature while publicly distancing himself from its violence. The result was little more than frustration for Klan opponents. >The only casualty from the hearings appeared to be the Rules Committee chairPhilip Campbell, a Republican from Kansas, who suffered defeat in the next election. Campbell’s loss testified to the Klan’s extensive political influence and alerted other politicians to their potential fate if they crossed the Klan.(emphasis mine)

WASHINGTON Norman Olson, bedecked in his camouflage outfit as a member of the Michigan Militia, told a Senate subcommittee on terrorism Thursday that he didn’t mean to preach.
“But I won’t allow you to wrap my thoughts around your axle,” Olson told Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), the panel chairman, as the men sparred over whether Olson had expressed sympathy for bombers of the Oklahoma City federal building.
In a tense, crowded hearing room, leaders of civilian militia groups, who described themselves as peace-loving spokesmen for millions of disaffected Americans, lectured senators.

On the eve of a congressional hearing into a rash of church burnings across the South, federal officials are continuing to investigate whether there are any links between the fires at dozens of black churches over the last six years.

Although Deval L. Patrick, the assistant attorney general for civil rights, characterizes the fires as “an epidemic of terror,” the Justice Department has not disclosed any evidence of a region-wide conspiracy fomented by hate groups.

  4. LeRoy says:

Headline is beyond very poor taste, headline is totally tasteless.

  5. Post Scripts says:

LeRoy was I being politically incorrect again? Well, you’re welcome to your opinion but just know I’m not poking fun at Japan’s earthquake I was using an absurd headline to emphasize my issue with liberals in the media using off the mark headlines to the point of absurdity. You missed that very important point. My headline had nothing to do with Japan just like Witch Hunt headlines have nothing to do with the committee on domestic terrorism.

  6. Harold Ey says:

Jack, just ignore the complaints about a Tasteless headline, it just sounds like Liberal whining as usual, seems if they disagree with the writers ideology, it will be tasteless, if you agree with the text of the writer then you realize the headline’s intended purpose, but only after you read and understand the article with a open mind.
When you do a tongue in cheek headline that some find un- PC, even after you explain it for what it is and people still say ‘tasteless’, I would say it is safe to say they just ignored the message and ranted needlessly. Jack, I think you are proving your point about King and his need to want to expose/alert Americans that they might be turning a blind eye to this Islamic terrorist based problem in the United States. I hope they don’t wake up to late. However the amusing part to me is how Liberals will reference this as a ‘witch hunt’ or ‘McCarthy like’ and conveniently pass over the fact McCarthy was proven right, I believe so will King!

  7. Chris says:

You were using a recent tragedy to make a totally unrelated political point. I don’t even understand how the connection occurred to you, the comparison is such a stretch. “Tasteless” is not an unfair descriptor.

Sometimes being politically incorrect is necessary, but most of the time it’s just a PC way to say being an asshole.

  8. LeRoy says:

“just ignore the complaints about a Tasteless headline, it just sounds like Liberal whining as usual”

This is really funny, why? Because I am not a liberal in any definition of the word and I am not whining. To associate an act of nature that killed (will be) thousands of people to an attack (i.e. P Harbor) to just glorify a blog entry it tasteless. I don’t care if you are republican or democrat, an American or a liberal. I don’t care about any political correctness, I do care people and history. The ones that will die this week and the ones that died 60 years ago. It is just tasteless, period.

P.S. I didn’t even read the blog nor have I have ever, I just noticed the title so I don’t know what type of political bigot this author may or may not be. So by making a comment about the title you assume I am liberal, wow speaks poorly about some people.

  9. Post Scripts says:

HEY LEROY, you are being hyper sensitive. H-Y-P-E-R S-E-N-S-I-T-I-V-E LEROY.

Here’s a suggestion: Get over yourself and don’t be so smug,

And read the freaking article before you make freaking assumptions about it.

I changed the headline, not because I felt it was over the top, but because I don’t want to give people like you an opportunity to criticize it and divert attention away from the message.

If you can’t handle getting criticized, just remember who started it. Have a nice day.

  10. Post Scripts says:

Thanks Harold, I appreciate your comments. Unfortuantely by trying to show an absurdity I have opened the door to a couple of hyper-sensitive people to divert attention away from point. So, for that reason alone I have changed my headline.

I truly appreciate your support and I believe you are right on with your thoughts about how libs operate.

FYI I got my original headline when I was listening to Armstrong and Getty on the radio and they made a joke of similar nature and I thought it would make a good opener headline. This is the #1 talk show in Nor Cal with millions of listeners, so it’s not like my headline was without significant precedence.

I thought Chris would be more mature in the way he handled it. That was disappointing because I have held out such hopes for him. But he’s still young, maybe he’ll see he’s mistake.

  11. Chris says:

    I appreciate the headline change.

The condescension, the arrogance, and the complete inability to understand why the headline was f#*%ked up in the first place–not so much.

You are not so young, Jack, so you have no excuse.

  12. Post Scripts says:

Chris it was cleared up in the very first paragraph.

It was meant to be an absurdity and I said so – the rest was uncalled for.

  13. Quentin Colgan says:

    The reason is simple, Jack.
    Those godless liberal MM types
WANT AMERICA TO BE CONQUERED BY MUSLIMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    That makes perfect sense.
Why else would they compare this to the crime we visited on American citizens in the 1940s?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go check under my matress. I think there is a Muslim hiding under there who is out to destroy my way of life!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Post Scripts says:

You’re excused….but, uh, er, you have terrorists under your bed? You must keep some really strange things under that mattress Q. My advice is go to Sleep Train and get yerself a new bed before its too late.
