Go See “Battle: Los Angeles”

Posted by Tina

I went to the movies this afternoon and saw the terrific film, “Battle Los Angeles”. I’m a civilian of course, and know nothing of combat, so I can’t speak to the authenticity of the marine activity in the film. But speaking as someone who loves the movies, and loves the military, this was a good old fashioned Sci-Fi with the Marines looking like John Wayne (or Captain Kangaroo)…dang good!.

The theme for this movie was clearly taken from Reagan’s strategy for the cold war, “We win; they lose.”

Kudos and kisses to the makers of this pro American, pro-military film. (And a big fat raspberry to the self-described sophisticates that hated it).

Since GWB left office we haven’t had many reminders of the efforts and sacrifice of our military. This was a movie that served as a reminder. There are many American men and women in far off lands serving our country with dedication and grit. Please keep them in your prayers and do what you can to show them support.

Here is a review from one of the decidedly “unsophisticated”, bless her —

Aliens invade Los Angeles. What’s new about that?

I saw this with some army buddies recently. Everyone loved it and the audience cheered at the end. Of course the CN&R critics didn’t like it much, and probably because it was the Americans who are the heroes here, but this was an awesome movie. Jack you’d definitely like it.

My favorite punch line was, “We’re marines, we never give up”. My only issue with this movie was (as far as authenticity goes)….they can travel through light years of space to reach us but their weapons we’re only slightly better than ours? Some scientist on the history channel recently made a comment about being attacked by aliens. He said if it ever happened they would probably plant a virus that would kill every human on earth. That makes more sense than attacking us. But still, this was a great movie!
