Well, well, well…there’s a chance that we’ve been crediting the wrong people with Osama bin Laden’s discovery and killing. A freelance journalist, Wajid Ali Syed, has written an article claiming a Pakistani in search of a US visa ratted out UBL to our embassy. According to Mr. Wajid’s sources, the plan to take out OBL was put together by Leon Panetta and supported and pushed by Hillary Clinton. The source insists it took months of prodding just to get the President on board…”kicking and screaming” is the quote:
President Barack Obama would not have agreed to go forward with the mission to kill Osama bin Laden had it not been for intense pressure from CIA Director Leon Panetta, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Defence Robert Gates, administration sources have revealed.
The advocates of the mission had “reached a boiling point”, because President Obama, hesitated for months and kept delaying the final approval. This delay was because of a close aide who suggested that this could damage him politically.
According to these sources, Administration officials were frustrated with the president’s indecisiveness and his orders not to carry out the mission in February. President Obama was “dragged kicking and screaming” to give the green light for the operation in the last week of April. By then, the US military and other high-level officials were so determined to launch the operation that they did not want to give the president the opportunity to delay or to call it off. President Obama reluctantly approved to go forward with the operation only if the CIA head agreed to take all the blame in case the mission failed. The planning for the operation underscores the deep divisions in the Obama administration, with President Obama and a close aide, Valerie Jarrett, procrastinating on making a decision and high-ranking officials and members of the cabinet pressing him to go ahead on the other. The chief architect of the plan to “take bin Laden out” was CIA Director Leon Panetta.
We peons have no reason to believe any of this…on the other hand…it does fill some of the gaps in the disjointed message the administration put out following the raid.
I honestly hope this is not true, but it sure does fill in a lot of blanks.
One thing we can count on, Toby, our military performed well and as expected!
“We peons have no reason to believe any of this…”
Then why publish it?
Oh, right. Because it makes Obama look bad.
The article is very poorly written. The sentence, “All those seeking to know the full facts of the Osama episode are looking for an answer to this question” is not one that a professional writer would ever allow to be attached to his name.
“Then why publish it?”
Why not? It was in the news and would be important to know for anyone interested in the next election.
Or do you think only positive Obama news should be posted here so he can be assured of another four years?
“The sentence, “All those seeking to know the full facts of the Osama episode are looking for an answer to this question” is not one that a professional writer would ever allow to be attached to his name.”
All of a sudden you’re a critic! You wouldn’t be attempting to portray this writer as “other” would you?
I hardly think one article that even you say we have no reason to believe qualifies as being “in the news.”
After looking into the journalist behind that article, however, I must admit he doesn’t seem too shady. I may have jumped the gun here. I have seen other articles with similar premises linked on other conservative blogs, and all of them so far have turned out to be hoaxes. Still, I won’t believe this one until we get more concrete info.
“You wouldn’t be attempting to portray this writer as “other” would you?”
I don’t think you understand what that means. Criticizing someone’s writing is not “othering” them.
Chris: “I hardly think one article that even you say we have no reason to believe qualifies as being ‘in the news.'”
Oh I don’t know. A popular tabloid published a story about John Edwards having an affair. Everyone poo poo’d it as ridiculous. Months later we found out they were right on the money. A journalist sometimes has to act on instinct. Mine seem to be fairly good.
As to that sentence. The persons name may indicate that english is a second language.
Marginalizing this journalist as one who is inept compared to his fellows is making him other in that field. So unless alien, like from another planet, is twhat is meant I stand by the question…it was said half in jest however;)

Just a year later, a book comes out with almost the same details:
