Those of us who are old enough to remember know that Bob Hope was a huge supporter of the American military. His career as America’s troop entertainer began with a radio show in 1941 and continued year after year through Operation Desert Storm.
Bob Hope is gone now but the spirit of his work is alive and well and residing in a gentleman known to everyone as Lt Dan…because of the character he played in the movie “Forrest Gump”. Since September 11, 2001 Gary Sinise has tirelessly worked to bring entertainment and the message to our troops that Americans care. He helped to bring schools supplies to kids in Iraq; he has done concerts for kids who lost parents in the war; he raises money and offers support to many groups who support our troops and their families; he’s done hundreds of concerts featuring the Lt. Dan Band.
Now he’s started the Gary Sinise Foundation so that others can join with him in this incredible work. I hope you will visit his foundation webpage this Fourth of July weekend and, if you are so moved, get involved. From the foundation page:
At the Gary Sinise Foundation, we serve our Nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.
Our thanks go out to Gary Senise; what an inspiration! God bless him and God bless the men and women and their families he so tirelessly aims to serve.
Ditto. God bless you. God bless Gary. Happy 4th? Happy 4th!
