By Steve Thompson, Chairman of the Butte County Republican Party
Next year is an election year, which means its time for candidates, and those who wish to help on campaigns, to start getting ready. You need to get ready now.
Too often in campaign season I see good conservatives running for the right reasons but ill prepared for the rigors of the campaign. They show up in the last two months of the race, disorganized, broke, and needing the help of the Republican Party. There’s a better way to do this, and a way that conservatives can win.
Start by coming to our campaign school on August 20th, at the Oxford Suites in Chico. Class starts at 8:00am sharp and we’ll be there until 2:00pm. The cost of $50 covers your classes, coffee, and a catered lunch. What you’ll learn about campaigns will be invaluable.
We cover topics such as campaign finance and bookkeeping, media print and mail, how to organize a campaign, voting data. The last portion of the class introduces local vendors of various services to those present. The networking here is worth the cost of entry.
Perhaps most importantly is that you will learn whether or not you are truly ready to run for public office. It is my strong belief that America needs more conservatives in office at every level, and I always encourage new candidates, but it is unfair to send anyone into battle untested and unprepared.
