By Steve Thompson, Chairman of the Butte County Republican Party
Presidential elections can be exciting and educational at the same time. One of the benefits of a wide number of presidential candidates is how much we can learn about politics and how to make our country better. Take Rick Perry, the current Republican frontrunner, for example. You might love him or hate him. You might be just “so so” about him. But by applying common sense conservative principles in Texas he has proven our principles right.
Rick Perry has proven, without a doubt, that standing up to environmental extremism creates an economy where businesses flourish and the people have jobs.
You can read about it in Forbes magazine online.
In a funny twist of fate, it was our own Dan Logue, the author of Prop 23 and advocate for jobs in California (one of the most anti-job states in the US) who helped “discover” Rick Perry when he lead a delegation of legislators there. Logue’s trip was covered in the Wall Street Journal and by Fox News, and it opened a spotlight on a Texas governor who actually put people in his state to work. A Republican legislator from one of the most liberal states in the country could be partly responsible for a newly revitalized conservatism in America.
It’s an important lesson too. When conservatives focus on solutions, rather than infighting over who is the second coming of Ronald Reagan, there is nothing we can’t accomplish. America is conservative by nature, and many are awakening every day to the great deception of Barrack Obama. Regardless of who our candidate ends up being, we can win. We can restore America to its former greatness and put Americans back to work. We can drive a stake through the heart of socialism once and for all, giving people back their souls and sense of self worth.
We can and we will.
Yes, but what sort of work? Under what sort of environmental conditions?
There ain’t nothin’ you could pay me that would induce me to live in Houston … or Dallas … and certainly not in Kenedy County … Ick.
Oilfield jobs? Is that what you want? My dad and brother were roughnecks, I don’t think you know what you’re talking about Steve.
I want clean jobs. I don’t want a gas rig coming into my hood and leaving what gas rigs leave – a total disaster. Pulverized, filthy dirt.
You haven’t seen trash until you’ve seen oilfield trash. And I ain’t talking dixie cups.
No, I am not ready to go back to the 1940’s environmentally to get those kind of jobs. We have to bring back manufacturing to America.
Under Rick Perry’s leadership Texas has one of the worst economic situations in the US. Unemployment is worse than here, and the environment is polluted and sickening. Texas has no public service unions and yet they are running a multi-billion dollar deficit.
There are far more Texans here than Californians there. Anyone with half a brain cell departs the cactus state, leaving Texas with a vast number of people with depressed intelligence. Do you know how many Ohioans voted for Rick Perry but misspelled his name?
I know how you admire Ayn Rand, who claims that conservatism is virtuous, but she spent her last years on Social Security and drawing Medicare benefits, because she was broke and unable to support herself. Do you think she is ready to change her impressions of Socialism in America?
We are a nation of and by the people of the United States, and it is the people who drive the economy and make America a place to be proud of. Any attempt to ignore or suppress the people is a fatal mistake for those in power. The people can correct you if you do not correct yourself. Republicans are in the minority, and it is only through misinformation, fraud and dirty tricks that they achieve their goals.
Are you going to send out fake absentee ballots too?
If we live in such a great country with such fabulous resources, have the greatest minds in the world, and care for the common man like it says in the Bible and the Constitution, there would be no poor and uneducated. Instead the reverse is true. Why? Because the Right seeks to control every aspect of our lives, from regulating uteruses to forming a police state. Liberty is a threat to those in power and as they see their efforts of control fail one after the other, they make our country more and more faschist.
We are at war right now in 70 countries. We rape and pillage as we please. We hire entire armies of mercenaries to do our bidding, because we cannot stomach making our own citizens and military asassinate innocents. These policies were instituted by Republicans.
Is that what America wants as its image around the world? If you are Republican, you may as well get fitted for the Brown shirts and boots now, because in a few years, there won’t be anyone left to make them for you.
Hey Dick if you are going to come here and run down republicans you might at least get your facts right. The first fact I checked was WRONG! “Unemployment in Texas is worse than in California.” That was a lie. A check of all the states revealed Calif. is far worse. We’re running aroubt 12% and Texas is around 8.4%. (as of July 2011)
I’m busy farming at the moment and I don’t have time to check the rest of your so-called facts, but given this one it’s pretty clear either you are an agent provacateur or just another koolaide drinking partisan democrat spouting all the lies he’s been fed.
Anyobody else want to help me out and go over what Dick has said? Peggy, Juanita, Harriet, Toby? Gotta go – tractor is waiting.
Libby: “Yes, but what sort of work? Under what sort of environmental conditions?”
Good grief! What sort of work? The same sort of work you find in California, including a couple of wineries. The environmental conditions are also just fine. What about the word “extreme” is too hard to get? In Texas if you want to start a restaurant it takes a few months to get through the paperwork and inspections…in California it takes two years!
When regulations are complicated, expensive and unreasonable (extreme) business is stifled…and jobs disappear!
juanita you’re living in the 1940’s in your head but the oil industry has come a long way since then. Because people like you were unhappy about the mess caused by drilling the industry was pressured to come up with better ways to do business. New techniques, some of it borrowed from the mining industry, mean that the environment is protected.
Clean manufacturing jobs are preferrable, however, they still require inexpensive, reliable energy in order to operate. Green energy cannot meet the country’s needs.
Dick’s facts don’t fly and I bet neither does his name. This is just another lunatic lefty dropping their usual crud on our site.
We “rape and pillage” 70 countries? Please. To quote Jack Nicholson: Sell crazy somewhere else, we’re all stocked up here.
Once again, I agree completely with Juanita.
dickwitman: “We are a nation of and by the people of the United States, and it is the people who drive the economy and make America a place to be proud of. Any attempt to ignore or suppress the people is a fatal mistake for those in power.”
Well dick…socialism IS a “suppression of the people”. We the people are finding that our social programs are a ponzi scheme and that promises were made that the state cannot possibly hope to keep without putting undue burdens on future generations and killing the economic stability that would assure they have jobs.
“Republicans are in the minority”
True but impossible to tell how many of those registerd democrats are real eligible voters and which are fraudulent. The numbers are also misleading in terms of how people will vote.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_registered_Democrats_are_there_in_the_US
Only about 20% of the electorate is progressive (extemely liberal). The majority of Americans see themselves as conservative. According to Gallup forty-two percent of Americans describe themselves as conservative or very conservative:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/141032/2010-Conservatives-Outnumber-Moderates-Liberals.aspx
“Are you going to send out fake absentee ballots too?”
You’re kidding right? Democrat supporters, the New Muslim Brotherhood, SEIU, and ACORN are the ones grabbing all the headlines for voter intimidation and fraud. ACORN was found guilty of voter fraud in several states. These groups are famous for registering dead people and cartoon characters. The’ve been known to swarm convelescent hospitals to register alzheimers patients and “help” them vote absentee. Investigatios find addresses for some of these so-called eligable voters are broken down warehouses or open fields.
” Because the Right seeks to control every aspect of our lives, from regulating uteruses to forming a police state.”
Rediculous! Republicans ask only that women regulate their own uteruses, act responsibly, and take care of their own mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And what police state? Please name someone that has been targeted or made a complaint!
You have it exactly backward. The majority of intrusive government policies were written by and promoted by Democrats…including the social programs that cannot be sustained, have encouraged and kept people in poverty, and caused a break of of the family…the black community suffering most of all.
“We rape and pillage as we please. We hire entire armies of mercenaries to do our bidding, because we cannot stomach making our own citizens and military asassinate innocents. These policies were instituted by Republicans.”
Setting aside all the girlish emotional bulls**t…what evidence do you have for these perverse and lopsided accusations?
America does not rape and pillage! America has liberated countries from tyrants and been a champion for freedom all around the world. We had the strength and the power to take over and dominate countries but instead tried to inspire democracy and independence. People risk their lives and break laws to come here. We are not without mistakes but name a country, or an individual for that matter, that is free of error. And if you think that all of our involvement around the world has been at the hands of only republicans you need to educate yourself. Go see the movie Charlie Wilsons War if you’re too challenged to do some actual reading…and consider the Obama record…a rubber stamp for the terror war if ever there was one.
Obviously you’ve been trained in the Alinsky method…SEIU member perhaps?
A poll of Americans (rather than likely voters) shows Obama has lost a lot of support in three key areas:
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_AP_POLL_OBAMA?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=
Could this be the reason dick chose a drive by attack on Republicans here on Post Scripts?
How can we be at war in 70 Countries with a Nobel Peace Prize owning president? Jack we have your back but you do not need it for this guy because he doesn’t know dick.
Wow Dick, you not only drank gallons of that kool-aide youre making it too. You have to be in your 30s to have such a narrow view of the facts and still believe those liberal instructors instead of doing your own research and forming an opinion of your own.
If you had you would know it is the republican party that wants smaller government with less regulations and more free will of, by and for the people. While the democratic party has been working to make us a Nanny state where the government tells us how to live, it is the republican party that has tried to turn it right back to those who should be in charge. Us!
Just look at who pushed through the ObamaCare health care bill into law. The dems when they held a super majority of Congress and the WH. The democrats have held the majority in Congress since Clinton with two and three of the branches of government. They knew the timing was right to force their progressive will onto the majority of people who didnt want it, but they did it anyway. They deemed they knew what was best instead of listening to the voices of the people they are supposed to represent.
Not seeing your name here before Ill repeat what I believe, as a civilized society we are required to take care of those who can NOT take care of themselves. Citizen of our country who are children, the disabled and the elderly are the only ones we should be taxed to help. I believe in closed borders and open immigration, similar to the mass migration that took place during the last century from other countries. Overhauling our immigration system to admit those that want to live here under our laws and deporting or refusing admission to those that dont is the only way we can afford to care for those in need. We can not be a Nanny state to the whole world.
We have spent trillions helping other countries with their civil wars, invasions from other countries and mass murders by dictators. Name one we have stayed to occupy and declare victors of by flying our flag over instead of theirs. We fight these wars with our men and women and our tax dollars at no cost to these countries and you dishonor the lives of those who served with your remarks are shameful and show your myopic view of the truth as it really is.
If youre a paid pundit I hope youll do the research on the facts before you cash your next pay check and if youre not being paid its time you grow up and start acting like an adult who expects to take care of himself instead of the government owing it to you.
PS. Just for the record I’m not sold on Perry yet. Major questions need answering before I decide.
…lol Thanks Toby!
Ah thanks Peggy, great response and Steve and Tina too! Hope this person learned something, but I doubt it. However, he did give us a chance to respond with the facts.
Dick: “Are you going to send out fake absentee ballots too?”
Thought you’d like reading what’s on Google with just a couple of clicks. If I find the documentary video about voter fraud in the 2008 election, made by a democrat producer, I’ll be sure to add it too.
========
From the Sun Times:
TROY — Former Troy City Clerk William A. McInerney pleaded guilty Friday to a charge that he signed a voter’s signature to a Working Families Party absentee primary ballot in 2009 to steer the vote to his Democratic Party candidates.
”I signed an absentee ballot ‘Dametrias Banks,’ ” McInerney told visiting Greene County Judge George J. Pulver in Rensselaer County Court.
From Raleigh, NC:
Voter turnout in the 2008 election was 69 percent statewide, which officials said was one of the highest in decades. Democrat Barack Obama defeated Republican John McCain by fewer than 15,000 votes out of more than 4.3 million ballots cast in the presidential race in North Carolina.
Murray voted on Election Day last November at the Green Road Park Community Center and then cast a provisional ballot at Stough Elementary School, an arrest warrant states.
McLean and his fiancee Leach admit to participating in early voting in the 2008 election. Unsure about the process on Election Day, they said they went to the polls to make sure their vote counted.
“I was confused and did not know,” McLean said. “This is my second time voting for a president in my life.”
Leach said she even told a poll worker about it.
“We told her we had already early voted, and we just wanted to make sure it counted,” Leach said. “She said, ‘If you have a ballot, then go ahead and vote.’ And that is what we did. We did not think anything of it.”
McLean said they were not trying to cheat the system.
After this ordeal, McLean said he thinks voting should be simplified and have tougher checks and balances.
Republican lawmakers backed legislation this year calling for voters to present photo identification before casting ballots, saying the requirement would combat voter fraud. Democrats argued that cases of voter fraud were rare and that the ID requirement would only add a hurdle for many voters, such as college students, the elderly and the poor.
McInerney, 47, who pleaded guilty to one felony count of second-degree forgery, is the first person convicted in a ballot-fraud investigation that began in September 2009.
Several public officials have been charged in the probe, and McInerney has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors. He will be sentenced to 90 days in a Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department work program and avoid jail time.

I will be happy to buy any of you baggerz a ticket to Texas!
Oh, wait! If it was so great you would already BE there, Steve!
Rick Perry’s jobs all pay minimum wage. BFD.
Dick Witless fails on facts and exceeds in nonsense. Hey Dick, get your head out of The Nation, Mother Jones and Pacifica news and try joining the real world.
I am liking Perry more and more. He scares the progressive “intellectual” elite to death. They are besides themselves, as witnessed by Dick Witless.
Time to go buy a ten gallon hat and some cowboy boots.
California could use some oil jobs. There is plenty of oil waiting for us to go get it. It is time for this state to join the cause for energy independence with a broad approach that includes fossil fuel development.
Q: “I will be happy to buy any of you baggerz a ticket to Texas!”
With what? You’ve given the impression that proditting from your labors is a sin! I was under the impression that you worked basically for free and possibly a few crusts of bread.
Next Quentin pulls out an old, tired progressive smear:
“Rick Perry’s jobs all pay minimum wage.”
Might as well have said, “neener neener” for all the informatiuon contained in that comment.
Texas is a border state with a lot of manual labor jobs…of course the pay for these jobs is low! Picking cotton isn’t rocket science. It is an entry level job and it is honest work!
The truth regarding wages in Texas can be found at the following site (excerpts follow the link):
http://www.bls.gov/ro6/fax/qcew_tx.htm
Remember too…Texans dont pay state income taxes, the median home price as of Oct 2010 was $130K and their state sales tax is exactly the same as in California.
(Bonus: They spend less on education with a superior result)
You heard him, Dick!
Quit reading anything that could tell you the facts.
Then, you’ll be as smart as Poe Guevara, another dick!
Thanks Poe!
Of course, you won’t have any facts to go with, but Bob Mulholland is not interested in facts, is he?
Thanks again, Poe! I mean, Bob!
Thanks, Tina. I can always tell when I am right. You post a WHOLE BUNCH OF CRAP!!!!
Thank you and all that, but I really don’t need you to confirm what I say.
Private sector jobs in Texas have actually FALLEN .7% since December, 2007.
PUBLIC sector jobs have grown by 3.7% in the same period. Rick Perry is another the-government-is-a-jobs-provider political hack.
Hmmmmmm Black guy creates jobs. The folks at Post_Scripts bitch and moan.
White guy creates jobs and he is hailed as some kind of economic wonder-worker.
Could you please STOP with the BS racism???
For God’s sake, you’re making conservatives look like racist idiots! We get the joke, OK?
You like to mock conservatives.
Fine.
It’s getting old.
Oh, I’m living in the 1940’s in my head?
When was the last time you were out at a drill site Hon? I guess you wore your evening gown high heels and diamond tiara?
juanita: “Oh, I’m living in the 1940’s in my head?”
Yes, it was you who said, “I am not ready to go back to the 1940’s environmentally to get those kind of jobs.”
I then pointed out that things have changed a lot since the forties. I figured by your remark that you were not aware of the changes the oil industry has made.
You know, we Americans are pretty smart. Except for all the hype and use of sensational headlines to fire up fears we would know that the industry has done a remarkable job of cleaning up the environment and being good stewards.
I do know people who work in the oil industry…the modern oil industry. Some work right there at the so-called toxic site…and they aren’t running around yelling, “oh sh*t we’re all gonna die”…they are delivering energy…in abundance…at what is (by world standards) a pretty cheap price most of the time. It’s because of their efforts, in part, that you and I live the life of ease and plenty (by world standards) that we do. I kinda like doing the laundry inside rather than out on the porch with a washboard!
I guess you wore your evening gown high heels and diamond tiara?
I suppose I could round up such an outfit if I had to but you won’t find it in my closet…I’m a jeans and t-shirts kind of girl. But why would you say such a thing, anyway? Aren’t you happy to know that the oil industry leaves a much cleaner and smaller footprint than they once did?
Q: “Thanks, Tina. I can always tell when I am right. You post a WHOLE BUNCH OF CRAP!!!!”
Information is crap but saying things like “Rick Perry’s jobs all pay minimum wage” with nothing to back it up is truth…and were supposed to just take Qs word for it because of his high opinion of himself?
Sorry Qwe prefer information. Your opinion, based no doubt on progressive deception, is worthless.
In order to give our readers an edge, and frankly set Q’s hair on fire, I came up with even more informationhere to clarify the Texas jobs question.
Political Math provides a comprehensive evaluation of unemployment and job creation in Texas (information sourced at Bureau of Labor Statistics-this guy is very thorough)
http://www.politicalmathblog.com/?p=1590
I hope you will follow the link and read the entire Political Math post. He (she?) debunks a lot of myths being generated by the progressive smear machine and he does it with facts, charts, and reason in a politically unbiased fashion…what else would you expect…he’s a math guy!
Q: “Hmmmmmm Black guy creates jobs. The folks at Post_Scripts bitch and moan.
White guy creates jobs and he is hailed as some kind of economic wonder-worker.
Could you please STOP with the BS racism???”
Climb out of the racism box. Neither black/white guy
nor white guy created jobs. Both were leaders. White guy (at the state level) gets to live under the policies of black/white guy, just as other governors have, and under his leadership his state has a better track record on jobs.
Black/white guy promised his policies would keep unemployment below 9% (8 point something)…black/white guy’s policies failed to deliver.
Tina 98% of the time our pal Quentin just says things to hear himself talk, so don’t tke anything he says too seriously.
Quentin’s not into seeking facts, unless they support his position. However, they so rarely DO SUPPORT his position he’s prone to just being smug and nasty with his own narrow view. In that, he has an ally, the liberals. The liberals act just like him with their smugness and superior attitudes, absent any serious facts to back it up. The funny part is Quentin is not really a liberal, his embracing of liberalism is more like, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Have you ever seen Q disagree with Libby? I sure he does, but he won’t say it, because she’s one of his liberal allies. When it comes to pounding us or republicans in general he loves whatever support he can muster, liberal or whatever.
Here’s where is gets downright weird. Quentin is very patriotic. He loves his country. He supports almost everything we support, at least in principle, although we may differ on the fine points. But, even though we share a lot of mutual idealism, its hard to be friends with him because his cannon is spinning and firing in all directions all the time. Everybody has to duck and dodge, you would think he would get tired of this and just settle for one side or the other?
Ladies,
There is no epidemic of people dying in Texas, or any other state that does not have California’s draconian environmental standards. Sorry, it’s not happening.
A job is a job. Texas is creating them while California is losing them. If you have a government job you need people with private sector jobs to support you with their taxes. If you get public benefits of any kind you need a healthy private sector.
The more private sector jobs CA loses, the more public sector jobs we will eventually lose as well. That’s pretty basic logic even for Quentin.
I know all of you want such high envrio-regulation that no one is allowed to flatulate without being fined $500, but right now we can’t even build SOLAR PANELS in CA because of government restrictions. Look around you, do you see any businesses really flourishing here?
We’re not asking for black-sky pollution. We’re asking that business be allowed to operate so we don’t all end up on unemployment. BTW, being without a job takes more years off your life than living in a dirty state.
On the income question.
It’s true, according to the census bureau that CA has a higher median income than Texas. CA is ranked 9th in the nation with a median income of $58,931 and Texas is ranked 25th with $48,259. HOWEVER, when you adjust for cost of living, Texas beats California with and income of $53,009 while California comes in at $44,456.
In other words, your dollar goes farther in Texas. I have had friends move there who can attest to that. One of them is a union worker who couldn’t find any construction work here in CA. He moved to Texas and put a sign on his truck that says “Proud Union Member Who Will Never Vote Democrat Again.”
I will admit that I prefer to live in CA over Texas. It’s humid there and they have a lot of critters that bite. But the average Texan is more patriotic and loves America far more than a lot of the latte-sipping liberal idiots crammed into our coastlines. I have a lot of friends and family who have left our sunshine out of economic necessity. Personally I haven’t given up yet, and I think CA can still be saved.
That’s why I vote REPUBLICAN.
Good going Steve! Excellent comments and I learned something about the incomes between the two states.
