Obama Withdraws New EPA Regs…For Now

President Obama delivered good news on Friday when he withdrew plans for new environmental regulations. This was a tough call for the President who was between a rock and a hard place on this one. He knew his green constituents would be angry or disappointed with him over this decision but he also knew that business and the economy can’t take the knock-out punch that the new standards would deliver:

Obama said he set aside proposed Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards in the interest “of reducing regulatory burdens and regulatory uncertainty, particularly as our economy continues to recover.”

The smog rule was one of seven new regulations the White House acknowledges would cost more than $1 billion each year. This particular regulation is projected to cost from $19 billion to as much as $90 billion a year.

This was obviously a political decision and it may or may not help the President’s re-election bid. Businesses can breathe a temporary sigh of relief but there’s a very good chance that if the President is re-elected the regulations will be back in play almost immediately. The energy sectors know this and business knows this so the decision won’t make them feel any more confident about the future and therefore It won’t help the economy, or the jobs picture much. Smart move? …eh!

Here’s a better question, how many months of continuous “recovery” will the people endure before they begin to think there is no recovery? We’ll have a measure of their patience next November.

This is strictly a campaign ploy. If he gets re-elected, they’ll be back as soon as he thinks he can get away with it. There are many other onerous regulations that have been or are about to be implemented so this is only one of many.

And wait until Obamacare (if not repealed) goes into effect. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet . . . . .

Environmental extremists are destroying our country. Even Obama can see that. But it is the democrat party (and even some republicans) that has enabled the extremists to the point we are now.
Once we have reached the point where water is clean enough to drink, why do we need to go further? Why put millions out of work over theories that a productive society is bad for the earth? Why set such high environmental standards that even solar manufacturers leave our shores?

Why? So that charlatan liars like Al Gore can reap huge profits. So that Obama can look merciful when he lifts the yoke of environmental regulations off our shoulders just a little.

Don’t buy any of it for a second. Liberals and extremists have practically destroyed our economy, don’t trust them to bring it back.

Let’s just see how long before he bends over for his base.

You got that right, one coal man has already scrapped plans for expansion because the new regs will make those efforts unsustanable. Shortages in energy supply, especially on the east coast, are going to make life very tough. Then the same idiots are trying to stop the pipeline that could bring clean burning gas as an alternative! If they too succeed the east coast will be screwed.

I know these nuts are thinking we just have to go through this period of “discomfort” until we get enough green energy on line but that will never happen. It would take decades for them to supply even a fraction of what is needed. In the mean time our economy will continue to suffer and die.
