Will Cain become Able?

The gauntlet has been thrown and if it’s a false charge then it’s time for a serious response like a lawsuit for defamation of character or libel or something on that order, because he’s clearly been harmed. Cain has instead repeatedly said, “I didn’t do it. How many ways can I say it?” and “Let’s move on, I don’t want to talk about this anymore.”

Well, that’s probably not going to happen and it shouldn’t, because this is important to sort out. I want to know if he was set up or if he did it.

Cain is a remarkable man and he has a remarkable background. He’s got great ideas and he’s not part of the political establishment. We love that in this guy, but the big question before us is how far will that get him, if he is truly guilty of sexual harassing multiple women? And if he is innocent I want to know who tried to ruin him.

Don’t believe he did it – don’t care? Better read on.

What are the odds that before Cain even thought of running for election, some 14 years earlier, four women, who don’t know each other would all file bogus sexual harassment charges against him? Or that his union would pay settlements? I don’t know the odds, but they’re probably way up there!

So for arguments sake, let’s say just he did it… how big a deal is it?

Let’s look back at our recent history. Our great symbol of Christian virtue, a famous ministers and an icon for civil rights had his affairs and nobody cared. This would be the right honorable Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a serial philanderer and it didn’t seem to matter to anyone. We still honor him with a national holiday. Even though this man practically had a women in every town where stayed long enough to give a speech. Same went for JFK…we just laugh about his exploits now.

Cain on the other hand has never claimed to be a man of God who preached marital fidelity nore did he ever hold himself up as an example to be followed.

Cain was a business man. Yes, he was in a position of authority where he had many contacts with women and there must have been many opportunities/temptation for him take advantage like JFK or MLK. (Not saying he did) But, if he did what is alleged, he would sure not be the first business man to do it. That’s hardly a shocking thought nowadays, but on another level as a conservative candidate for president, it is shocking, because it calls into question his judgment and his moral compass.

So, hypothetically speaking, how much would this part of Cain’s alleged persona mean to you? Let me ask it another way: Would you be more concerned if he lied about his infidelity or would you be more concerned if he did it in the first place?

I can see some valid reason for concern if he (as the president) suddenly felt he needed to lie to his family and the American people in order to escape some nasty personal situation. (Bill Clinton) We don’t want a man with his finger on the nuclear trigger to be subject to blackmail. (Bill Clinton) This doesn’t show strength of character, and it sure doesn’t show good judgment. And it’s definitely not the kind of legacy people who vote with an R after their name want to remember. So I am hoping Cain’s team sorts out the truth and quickly. Maybe he could take a polygraph along with his accusers?

Now back to a situation where somebody steps out of their marriage. Most of us can understand and forgive, for we are all potentially vulnerable. Give a person a few drinks, the right moment, right place and right person, it does happen. We’re human- we’re not perfect. Fact is, geneticists say it’s hardwired into a man’s brain to want to have multiple partners. Maybe so, but hopefully as we mature we at least try to invoke higher reasoning than our primal instinct.

Many of our leading democrats in Congress don’t even want to deal with this personal ethical stuff; they would prefer to say it’s not relevant to the job, therefore its none of our business. And I’m speaking in the most current terms, because thirty years ago I couldn’t have made that same claim, but times have changed. Now many of us left of center don’t think that infidelity, unto itself, as being a deal killer for our favorite candidate. It would have to be something more, like cheating while the wife was lying on her death bed – that might raise some eyebrows. But, for a significant portion of conservative camp one indiscretion is one too many, especially if their candidate doesn’t try to make amends and lies about it.

This is why I think when you have four allegations of indiscretion, that’s getting to the point of being a deal killer and it is serious and Cain needs to respond as forcefully as he can, even if it means taking a poly or engaging in lawsuits. Because he’s running for president. We are talking about putting a man in the White House that reflects our highest ideals and what we should all strive to be. Maybe that’s just fantasy talk, but its supposed to be that way and its what I want to believe. I also want to believe that Cain is innocent of these allegations, but it’s not easy, so he’s got to do something fast or his campaign is toast and that would be a real shame.

As a parting thought, if we are going to sidestep Newt for his infidelity, and he’s clearly the smartest and most qualified for the job, we’re going to have to be consistent and hold Cain and others to the same standards. I hope he clears this up – fast!

I am going to double down and send him more money. @#$% the Left and their BS! He is so hated and feared by the Left, that is reason enough to vote for him. I know you guys (my friends) think I am wrong but this is what 3 years of out of control liberalism/socialism/terrorism has done to me. I love the underdog in a fight and Cain is sure that. I just wish he was only fighting the Left.

This is a she said accusation that bothers me for several reasons.

Some women don’t want to go public. They were satisfied with the arrangement (severance pay) that resulted after they made their complaints and the charges they made were apparently investigated and found to be unsupportable.

In another case a woman traveled some distance to meet with a man whom she hoped would help her get a job. Does she meet him during business hours as any professional would? Hell no! She says she booked a room. She says he upgraded it for her. She says they had dinner and drinks. She says they then got in a car because he wanted to show her the offices…at night…when nobody is there. How dumb, or opportunistic (I’m being kind) does this broad have to be to put herself in such a potentially compromising position. What was she expecting when she agreed to dinner, drinks, and an upgraded suite? Is she truly that naive and stupid and does she really think others will find her a victim in this senario? Her description of what supposedly happened reads like a cheap dime novel or porn film…just as did the claims of Anita Hill.

Two prominent black conservative men have been targeted at critical moments in their careers with unprovable accusations of sexual harassment. Clarence Thomas, a pro-life proponent, was being considered to sit on the highest court in the land. The feminist left decided they had to “kill” his nomination and congressional hearings were arranged. Clarence Thomas was confirmed as he should have been but the hell he and his family endured is uncontionable. There was no evidencce and the witnesses were found to be, shall we say, remembering wrongly!

Herman Cain is a pro-life candidate for president of the United States who has been gaining in the polls. He presents a clear and present danger to the presidency of Barack Obama and to the pro-abortion left should he become president. His color makes him particularly troublesome for Obama because even a small percentage of the black vote shifting to Cain could cause a severe blow to Obama’s chances of a second term.

The timing for these accusations is as profoundly relevant as were those of Clarence Thomas. In all cases the allegations are old. In two of the cases the women were so offended that they placed themselves in the presence of the accused after the supposed offense took place making their stories suspect.

I find the circumstances surrounding these charges highly suspicious and I am profoundly offended in terms of the behavior of the women involved.

  3. Libby says:

Well, call me a wicked cynic, but I don’t think a non-profit writes checks for a year’s salary to bury “unfounded” allegations.

And Herm’s really quite offensive strategy is only going to intensify the media’s efforts to prove him a liar. Documents from those documented NRA incidents are going to turn up, you mark my words.

And Toby, you’ve got to be kidding. Believe me, we on the left are delighted with Mr. Cain’s candidacy. The whole of the Republican bid for the presidency has been reduced to: “Is the man a groper, or is he not?”

Nobody’s covering policy questions … not nobody.

In fact, this ignoramus with money has so thoroughly muddied Republican waters that the chief suspects in the outting of Mr. Cain are, alas, Republicans.

    Gleeful. We are gleeful.

  4. Peggy says:

Red flags went up when I saw Gloria Allred standing with this woman, and after watching her read the script with a smile on her face she lost all credibility. No woman that has been sexually harassed and assaulted would think it was funny and behaving as if she was having a good time.

This is looking more and more like a con. Remember it was Allred who used Whitman’s Hispanic housekeeper to knock her out of the running by taking away the Hispanic vote. Just like now no proof was given, but just the accusations was enough to produce the desired damage.

Allred is a big time democratic supporter, with a son-in-law that works for Political. Before Allred came into the picture I was thinking another republican candidate could be behind this, but now believe its the democrats because they dont want Cain pulling away the black votes from Obama. History repeating itself. It worked before, do it again plan.

Being a victim of both harassment and assault, I like most women am 100% against it on every level. But I also will not condone falsely accusing someone for personal and/or political gain.

This is really beginning to smell like something I won’t mention. And until I get absolute proof to support the allegations I will afford this man the same rights he would have in a court of law of being innocent until proven guilty instead of being presumed guilty by the press. Our laws are supposed to apply to all equally and not controlled by the media. This is just sooooo wrong.

Looks like the mud is hitting a different wall now. Let’s see how much of it sticks.

On his radio program Tuesday, Mark Levin aired a clip of veteran journalist and CBS anchor Bill Kurtis on WLS saying that Herman Cains accuser, Sharon Bialek, is a former CBS employee with a track record. Given her checkered past, a chuckling Kurtis posited that Bialeks and Cains roles in the alleged car-incident could even have been reversed.

Some of Kurtis observations on Bialek were as follows:

    She has a history.

There is a lot more to this story.

I can assure you that there will be far more to this story.

Lets put Herman or Sharon in the car and say their roles may even have been reversed, given her track record here.

  6. Peggy says:

Here is some more mud hitting the accusor’s wall.

    http://www.theblaze.com/stories/cain-accuser-filed-another-complaint-in-her-next-job/

WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) A woman who settled a sexual harassment complaint against GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain in 1999 complained three years later at her next job about unfair treatment, saying she should be allowed to work from home after a serious car accident and accusing a manager of circulating a sexually charged email, The Associated Press has learned.

Karen Kraushaar, 55, filed the complaint while working as a spokeswoman at the Immigration and Naturalization Service in the Justice Department in late 2002 or early 2003, with the assistance of her lawyer, Joel Bennett, who also handled her earlier sexual harassment complaint against Cain in 1999. Three former supervisors familiar with Kraushaars complaint, which did not include a claim of sexual harassment, described it for the AP under condition of anonymity because the matter was handled internally by the agency and was not public.

To settle the complaint at the immigration service, Kraushaar initially demanded thousands of dollars in payment, a reinstatement of leave she used after the accident earlier in 2002, promotion on the federal pay scale and a one-year fellowship to Harvards Kennedy School of Government, according to a former supervisor familiar with the complaint. The promotion itself would have increased her annual salary between $12,000 and $16,000, according to salary tables in 2002 from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

  7. Libby says:

Oh, you people have no imagination.

If Cain’s unwanted attentions forced her to leave her job in 1999, and she was 55 in 2002, and been racked in a car accident to boot … maybe you’d have to be a woman of a certain age … to comprehend the inclination to rip the system for all it’s worth.

(And if she wasn’t 55 in 2002, she was 46, which is still to old to have to submit to gropers … and mind your prose, will you.)

  8. Toby says:

So Libby what is the right age to submit to gropers? Do you liberals have a handbook for that kind of thing?
Oh and no I am not kidding, Cain is the guy. I hope you can keep that “Gleeful” feeling, I think you are going to need it.

  9. Chris says:

Well, once again Cain’s campaign manager has made a gigantic mistake, claiming that he had “confirmed” that the son of one of the accusers works for Politico. As the Weekly Standard points out, that’s not true:

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/problem-mark-blocks-statement-it-incorrect_607900.html

Block has since acknowledged the error, but as of yet has not acknowledged his much bigger error of ever attempting to manage a presidential candidate’s campaign.

As for this nonsense about the allegations being made up as part of a liberal smear campaign, I can’t see why liberals would feel the need to do that given Cain’s obvious weaknesses as a presidential candidate. If there’s anyone we would start wantonly accusing of sexual harassment, it would be Mitt Romney. The rest of them are perfectly capable of hanging themselves.
