Chanting USA is Deemed Racist

by Todd Starns, FNC

“A Texas school district has filed a complaint alleging that students from a rival school engaged in racism by chanting “USA, USA” at a basketball game. The students involved in the incident were reprimanded and forced to apologize.

The San Antonio Independent School District filed the complaint with the University Interscholastic League, the governing body for athletics in Texas. They allege that students at Alamo Heights High School began chanting “USA, USA” after they defeated Edison High School to win a region basketball championship.

Edison’s team is predominantly Hispanic, said Leslie Price, a spokesperson for the San Antonio ISD.

“The implication is they are not American citizens,” Price told Fox News. “We understand competiveness and rivalry, but you need to choose your words and think about the meaning behind them.”

Price said she believes the “USA, USA” chant was racially motivated.”

NOTE: However, what the mainstream media is not mentioning is the Hispanic students were mocking the Alamo Heights students…they were clearly using a racist phrase when they started chanting “Alamo Whites, Alamo Whites, Alamo Whites” -Jack

The district leadership is apparently frightened to death of being labeled racist. Intimidation practices by minorities have created an atmosphere of injustice.

Payback is a bi**h! It will lead to loss of freedom for everyone and will not improve conditions for minorites but create more division and derision.

What will improve conditions for minorities? Teaching Apreciation of American values! Freedom and a change in attitude and vision is needed! Entitlement is a killer of spirit. Entitlement based on race is a killer of freedom and equality. A shift of focus, a can do attitude, an appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy and the opportunities that we share would do wonders for Americans of any race or creed! A government that supports ALL Americans in being entreprenurial, hard working, and self-sustaining would create the atmosphere for all of us to do better.

Push has come to shove. It’s time to smarten up!

As usual it’s those that retaliate who get caught.

Wish people would learn that a lie by omission is still a lie.

On this, dear friends, we have to depart. It seems to me that this chant (from a largely non-Hispanic school and directed at a school that is largely Hispanic) clearly denigrated and insulted USA citizen children in base and unacceptable manner. The context and sub-context of that chant was glaringly obvious to me. It meant, “We, are Americans! NOT YOU!”

I have no knowledge of the background of any rivalry between these educational institutions, but that chant did not make me proud to be an American. I think the educational authorities were right in their actions.

This opinion comes from someone who chants “USA, USA, USA” every day.

Noting that Edison High School’s chant “Alamo Whites” was not chastised: I smell something rancid, and it isn’t three day old ceviche.

  6. Chris says:

For perhaps the first time ever, Pie Guevara and I agree on something. Of course chanting “USA, USA” is not in itself racist. But this particular event may have been racially motivated. Of course, if Jack is correct, then the Edison players were behaving no better.

  7. Post Scripts says:

Well then there are three of us who agree. Alamo whites was a term used to incite and it was pretty blunt, the other term was a little more indirect, but neither side should be taunting each other. Then again, these are teens, not adults.

  8. Peggy says:

Reported last night on the news by interviews of both students and parents the, “USA” chant had been done at previous games won by the Alamo students.

If it was acceptable behaviour before this game the student’s would have learned it was ok to do at this one.

With this new information coming out about the, “Alamo White” chant it appears the wrong school was punished.

  9. Pie Guevara says:

Re Chris’: For perhaps the first time ever, Pie Guevara and I agree on something.

Actually, we have agreed on several occasions. Nevertheless, I would appreciate it if you would refrain from agreeing with me in the future. It makes me look bad.

  10. Libby says:

This phenom has been commented upon before. Racist … savage … what’s the diff … really?

On either side … a stop should be put. But the “adults” in the situation are repeatedly spineless … or complicit.

  11. Chris says:

Pie, in the future I’ll do my best to see what your opinion is on a subject first, and then decide that I believe the opposite. Just like conservatives do with Obama.

  12. Toby says:

ROFLMAO! Coffee out the nose, thanks for the laugh.

  13. Post Scripts says:

Painting with a broad brush again, eh Chris?

  14. Post Scripts says:

I agree, we really need to move beyond this racism junk. Nobody wins – everybody loses.

  15. Chris says:

Jack, obviously I don’t mean ALL conservatives, or even every issue, but I thought adding a qualifier would diminish the joke.
