Obama is a total clown who lied to Democrats to get elected and gave us health care reform that is a total giveaway to the corrupt insurance companies.
But he was smart. Because he adopted almost completely the health care reform that Mitt Romney passed in Massachusetts. If you look at Romneycare and Obamacare side by side they are almost identical. So how is Romney supposed to run on that? There is so much material out there from that idiot Romney defending his health care plan and talking about how great it is.
There is also plenty of recordings of Romney talking about being a Republican in name only and about how we need to surtax SUVs and here is a great quote from him from 2007 “I’m hopeful that with $3 gasoline being charged by Hugo Chavez and Ahmadinejad and Putin and others, that youre going to see that Americans are going to slowly but surely move to vehicles that are far more fuel efficient”
Is he really the best we could do? Jeebus I miss Reagan.
Now you got it right…Obama is a clown. Thank you! -jack
If he is the republican nominee Romney will be overwhelmingly elected simply because he is not Obama. The upside of Romney is we know everything we need to know about him, unlike Obama. I firmly believe everyone in this Country who is not a liberal sees Obama as the worst mistake this Country has ever made and will elect anyone just to be rid of him.
Romney is the same as Obama. Same education, same health care beliefs, same environmental beliefs (look at his record as governor of Massachussetts). The only difference I can see is Romney wants war with Iran. Of course, Romney and all of Romney’s kids have never served in the military, so I guess that is an easy choice for him to make. For our children.
I don’t know if insurance companies are corrupt overall. I think it’s a bit over the top to claim the entire industry is corrupt. Could there be one or more corrupt persons in the industry? You betcha…the key being that human beings are in every industry.
Insurance companies are in business to provide coverage for customers and make money. some are structured as not for profit organizations. Insurance companies usually offer several plans from which private citizens and groups can choose. They are compelled to offer plans according to regulations placed on them by government. A good regulation, IMO, would be one that states they cannot disallow coverage due to preexisting conditions. A bad regulation would be that they cannot sell across state lines. A good regulation would be that people are free to form or join groups to get their premium costs down. A bad regulation would be that they cannot offer policies for catastrophic coverage only.
Regulation on the industry should create flexibility and choice for customers while safeguarding against fraud and abuse.
The difference between Romney and Obama on this issue is that one plan, Mitt Romney’s, is state created which is more consistent with the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. It reads:
If you live in Massachusetts and you hate Romneycare you can move to another state. People in that state wanted the legislation and if they decide they don’t want it they can demand a change. People in other states can create whatever works for them.
If Romney is elected he will be working with congress. Depending on how those bodies shape up he could be working with a mixed bag, a conservative support system or, God help us, a liberal group that would echo his Mass. experience. In the worst two of these three options he has experience in getting things done that would please conservatives. he was successful in keeping growth of government in check, he was successful in reforming entitlement programs and lowering taxes. I loved Reagan too. Romney looks to be at least six degrees of Reagan and who knows, given the mood of the country he could have the active support Reagan lacked to get even more done. In any case the not Obama candidate is the alternative to destruction…I’m going for it.
As for fuel efficient vehicles, Americans went for that way back in the seventies under similar circumstances. I don’t know how much further the auto industry can go to get the cost of filling up lower before creating death machines but whatever it is the industry will do what the people demand IF the government and the EPA get out of the way. They want to sell cars; the smart industry people go with safety and demand.
“I don’t know if insurance companies are corrupt overall.”
Corrupt is not the word. Health insurance companies are not in the business of health. Any private corporation’s first concern is providing a fat return on investment. Consequently, the Blues will short health care for profit, every time.
For-profit health-care is a contradiction in terms.
I will never comply with Obama’s mandate. I will pay his penalty, i.e., pitch into the state pot, before I will fund some balding old fart’s golf resort retirement.
Libby: ” Any private corporation’s first concern is providing a fat return on investment. Consequently, the Blues will short health care for profit, every time.”
Profit is not a dirty word except in the lives of those progressive that don’t mind making a big fat healthy buck (Clintons, Obama, Kerry…Speilberg, Hanks, Streep…Buffet…every person that works for government…those who run enviro and other special interest not for profits (HA!) and award themselves outrageous salaries and benefits…hypocrites all) and people like you Libby who work for someone else who is responsible for making enough to pay YOU!
Any investor expects a return on his money…just as you do even when you put your mioney in a savings account but especially when you put it in a retirement account or other investment. Profits given back to investors help keep the wheels turning…Obama would rip the wheels off the vehicle and none of us will have work!
And at least one of the “blues” is nonprofit. it gives it’s customers money back when it’s receipts exceed the required limit.
(More unspeakable words)
Libby: “For-profit health-care is a contradiction in terms.”
As you just indicated Insurers are not in the health care business. There is no contradiction.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a stingier, mean spirited, ugly, clueless…(there I go again…zip)
