Another Casualty of the Trayvon Martin Case

by Chief of Police, Bud Biddle, Ret.

Chief Lee, of the Sanford Florida Police Department, in the wake of the Zimmerman/Martin rush to judgment matter, formally resigned today, 4/23, and his resignation wasn’t accepted by the City. It is still highly unlikely that Chief Lee will ever work as a Chief again unless Mr. Zimmerman is acquitted of all charges.

America 2012, where a police chief is ostensibly fired [-put on administrative leave-] before any real facts are in evidence. Where the rush to judgment in this racially charged, media driven matter is almost exactly like the Richard Jewell case in 1996; the case regarding the Olympics bombing which occurred in Atlanta, Georgia. That wrongful, rush to judgment by media guru’s and others led to the ruination of a hero cops career. It also cost the taxpayers millions in wasted funds to investigate the wrong man and eventually settle a lawsuit after Jewell was fully exonerated.

Sadly, 2012 American reality exposes a racially charged, highly subjective, media/political bias which provokes/promotes a dangerous, systemic radicalism/racism/prejudice and therefore creates negative, polarizing confrontations throughout our fragile society.

Well, of course he resigned. His department has been found spectacularly inadequate.

It’s so odd. I mean, here in California, you knife to death some clown who’s crawled through your bedroom window … you get booked. The DA may very well decline to prosecute … but you get booked.

In Florida, apparently, if the homocidee is a black boy in a hoodie in the road … you don’t get booked. This is the beginning and the end of the difficulty.

And now we have the tardy indictment called into questiion, which doesn’t surprise me. I mean, if the local PD is in such a state, it only stands to reason that the local DA might not be able to string two cogent sentences together. I work in the legal profession and see a great deal of that. The 80s were a horror, educationally speaking … and on all fronts.

But I’ll go with the dubious state, before I’ll cast my lot with doofuses with guns.

Bud, I read tonight that the city council rejected his resignation:

the Sanford City Commission rejected by a 3-2 vote the resignation of Police Chief Bill Lee, who was roundly criticized for not initially charging Zimmerman and had stepped down temporarily in March he said to let emotions cool.

Good news if it holds IMO.
