DWI Check Points At Four Corners Area N.M. – Racial Profiling?

Posted by Tina

Looks like Sheriff Joe is about to lose his spot as the only sheriff in America on civil rights watch. Sheriff Christesen of San Juan County New Mexico is facing an extreme situation in his country near the four corners area of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Three major drug cartels, including the violent Seminola Cartel, have been using the roads in the isolated area to move drugs from safe houses into America’s cities. The sheriff’s efforts to combat the problem, including DWI check points, are attracting complaints of racial profiling. Ironically, this sheriff says he isn’t interested in enforcing immigration laws.

Susan Jones of CNS News reports the sheriff perspective:

Sheriff Christesen told the AP he had not seen the complaints. But he said federal immigration agents have been invited to Four Corners to help battle Mexican drug cartels, not to find illegal immigrants.

“What they are helping us with is going after those members of the cartels who are operating in our area,” Christesen said. “We are not interested in enforcing federal immigration laws. We have enough on our hands up here.”

Why not just put our sheriffs out to pasture and let the cartels have a free pass? Heck, lets just turn the entire country over to them. I’ll bet there’s a sheriff or two in America who wouldn’t mind getting paid to go fishing for awhile…as long as they get unemployment and food stamps. Maybe if we just let them alone the cartels will get bored and go away?

Leave them alone is Mexico’s new policy. Expect whatever problems we have here to grow significantly in the next year or two. -Jack
