Tonight at the Republican National Convention the documentary, “The Hope and the Change” will make its debut. This is the film that was at the center of the Supreme Court case Citizens United vs. Federal Elections Commission in which it was ruled that spending is a form of speech. David Bossie of Citizens United who brought the case says his purpose was having an equal opportunity to create and show his film:
“I didn’t go to the Supreme Court to give more spending power to unions or to create Crossroads GPS. … I came because Michael Moore had the right to make a movie and advertise it, and I didn’t.”
Available also on DVD, Bossie’s film features40 Democrats and Independents that voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and are experiencing regrets. One woman tells about employees that she had to lay off because of the terrible economy. Each has a personal story to recount. It’s impossible to ignore the heartfelt disillusionment that these Americans have experienced since 2008.
The last time I was this enthused to watch the convention was 2000. Before that it was 1980 and I couldn’t vote yet, but loved it. I know I am not alone.
I just saw the interview of the youngest delegate, he is 17. This kid would clean Bidens clock in a debate.
Some guy named Jamie Weinstein has put out a list of five names who he thinks will be the mystery speaker at the convention. When I read the list I was tempted to check and see if he was talking about the democrat convention. His list is as follows. 1. Joe Lieberman 2. Colin Powell 3. Now this would be cool but I don’t see it happening Nancy Reagan. 4. Clint Eastwood 5. Tim Tebow.
I figured if he can make a list so can I. My list has one name on it. George H. W. Bush. Tell me he wouldn’t fire up the crowd! I would be very pleased to see W also.
Toby I’m with you! I’d love to see what W has to say after three plus years.
GWB has been extremely gracious and tolerant of the buck passers whining Bush bashing. GWB has kept a low profile. this would be a perfect time to place him back in the spotlight. a lot of military guys would love it.
