Hungarian Revolution of 1956 – Part 1

by Jack L. Lee – written in 1996

Prologue - Throughout their life together Joe Szepyolgyi worked a number of jobs, but mostly as a master cabinet maker.  His wife Anna was a bookkeeper, but in her younger years she was a laundry worker, forced into hard labor by the Communist.

This life today, living as American citizens is pretty good.  But, it wasn’t always like for Joseph and Anna Szepyolgyi’s, pronounced Seph-vogy, formerly of Budapest, Hungary.

Anna poured coffee and while Joe and I made small talk.  I pulled out my note book and tape recorder and soon we were talking about the old days in Hungary and how their lives almost ended with the Budapest revolt of 1956.

But, before  launch into their story you should appreciate the fact that for over four decades they had blocked the tragic and sometimes brutal memories that had brought them to America.  Telling their story was not easy for them, it dredged up a lot of painful memories, but there’s a great message here for all of us.

A history of oppression…first the Nazi’s then the Russians.

German_Tanks_Wide They were just kids, 14 and 10 years old respectively, when the first of many Nazi tanks rumbled through the cobble stone streets of Szentendre, where they lived.  Joseph had to scramble to get off the sidewalk and out the way of the seemingly endless flow of German military trucks and tanks.  For nearly an hour the trucks and Panzers roared past this little boy of 14 who stood silently, watching in awe from the relative safety of a stone carved doorway.   For the next two years, Budapest was an occupied city controlled by Nazis.  Just existing from day to day was  a struggle, especially for a 14 year old boy caught in war.

By early January of 1945, the Nazi’s finally left and the Russian’s quickly moved in and took their place.  A few months later an interim government was setup.  It was a coalition of diverse political parties.  They consisted of the Democrats, the Social-Democrats, the Farmer’s Party and a few others.  They actually worked farily well together, despite their sometimes opposing philosophies.  This diversity gave everyone a voice and it seemed things were starting to click.  “We all started working, rebuilding.  We got much help from the west.  Everything went fine, we had new money, we had food, everything…  and we started building up again!” Joseph explained, and for three years life kept improving, despite the widespread devastation caused by the war.

In 1936 an infamous Hungarian Communist named Matyas Rakosi had been exiled to Russia, but now that the war was over, this devote’ of Joseph Stalin returned with his Russian cronies for the 1948 Hungarian elections.  He was running with the blessings of Moscow as a candidate for Prime Minister!  Given his past lack of popularity one might think his candidacy for such a high office would have been almost laughable and he would not having the slightest chance of winning.  But, with the Russians behind me his sudden rise to power was all but assured.

Almost all of the original opposition candidates had conveniently died from one accident or another or they simply just went missing never to be seen again.  As Joseph explained, “They had an amazing number of accidental deaths and suicides.”  Rakosi’s Russian handlers in Moscow had been very thorough as the road to power was cleared.

During the weeks preceding the elections, Rakosi and the vast Communist Party offered stability and security to a country on the verge of political chaos.  The chaos was covertly caused by those offering the security.

As planned, Rakosi and his allies were voted in by a suspicious 98% of the votes cast!  Such a strong approval was soon to be fairly common in elections held within the eastern block of Europe countries.  These were all countries “liberated” by Soviet forces during WWII that remained around to insure their liberation would not fail due to a lack of security.

According to Joseph, it appeared the Soviets had let the Hungarians begin to get back on her feet and then they made their move thru their puppet,  Rakosi, to control them.   The new party boss began his administration by promising the virtues of Communism to all, first we need health care for all, and we need to raise taxes to pay for big improvements that the private sector could not do.  And in order to do that it was necessary that certain private industries that had been bailed out by government now become “nationalized.”   Rakosi assured the people he would only nationalize the largest companies and that this move was absolutely necessary if they were to prosper.

A propaganda campaign began by attacking the rich and the successful as being hoarders of the wealth.  Actually, this attack extended to anyone with any property or even a higher education.  They were considered to be part of the [bourgeois] or aristocracy.   They were the [bad] people that had been suppressing the [little] people and now it was time for the little people to take back what was rightfully theirs and it was their turn to control the progress of the nation!  Now was a time for redistributing the wealth ( Forgive me for interrupting here but,  tearing down the rich to build up the poor?  Note: Left-coast California has a new “Tax the Rich” initiative on the ballot for 1996.  But, chances are people in California are too smart to fall this one, this is just another form of Communism.   Pete Wilson-R, is the Governor and the Assembly is firmly in the hands of the Republicans.  I can’t imagine what this state would become if the Democrats ever had total control!

Now back to the story:  At about the same time citizens were forced to turn in their guns and their old radio’s or face serious consequences.  Only radios with frequencies tuned to two Hungarian government radio stations were permitted.  The multi-band short wave radios were considered contraband and more ownership would get you arrested and thrown into prison.  The new radio stations offered little in the way of entertainment or news.  Still you had a choice, Budapest one or Budapest two.  All government radio all the time.  They played rather
boring classical music and spouted the same old Communist rhetoric over and over.  It was so boring Anna and Joe quit listening to the radio.

Information, by any means, on the radio or in the newspapers was totally in the control of the state, unlike our media watchdogs in America where we have a free press.  Government identity cards were soon issued to every adult citizen.  To be caught without one was a serious offense, just like owning a radio with more than two frequencies.  Anna and Joseph kept the old I.D. cards, souvenirs of the not so good old days.  Joseph asked me if I wanted to see them and then shuffled off to the bedroom.  In a moment he returned with a large phone book sized envelope and dumped the contents on the dining room table.  Among the assortment of dog eared passports and government papers.

I noticed two dull red books about the size of a pocket Bible.     Joseph picked one of them up and said, “Everything about you is in here, (palming the little red book) who you are, what you do, where you live..  everything!  Then he said in a somber voice… “This is so when the police stop you, they know just how to handle you.”

Joseph spoke of the Stalinization of his country.  “Starting slowly, moving carefully and methodically they began seizing company after company.  They nationalized everything.  First they nationalized the big companies, then the middle size companies, then the little Mom and Pop shops and by 1949 everybody worked for government, even the shoe shine boy!  We all worked for government!  They designated to you where to go, what you do and how you do it.  If you come from a poor family, they call the poor the proletariat… then you get some job which is a little bit more important.  And the persons who had the more intellectual jobs, like a teacher or something, they went down to the labor jobs.  First the big people were taken down, then the smaller ones.”

End of Part 1 - a new part will be released every day until complete.

Matyas Rakosi was born in Hungary in 1892. He served in the Austro-Hungarian Army during the First World War. He was captured by the Russian Army and spent most of the war in a prison camp in Russia. Radicalized by his experiences in the war, Rajkosi joined the Hungarian Communist Party when he returned to Hungary in 1918. He was commander of the Red Guard in the Soviet Republic established by Bela Kun in 1919. He was removed from office in 1956 and in 1962 was expelled from the Hungarian Communist Party. Matyas Rajkosi died in 1971.

Manpower Crunch Hit’s Paradise Police Hard

by Jack

Paradise may not be a liberal town, but the financial distress they are going through is certainly the result of bad liberal governance. The whole state has been suffering, because the liberals in Sacramento have overtaxed, overregulated and chased away jobs and businesses, now everybody, liberal or not, is suffering from their stupidity.

My daughter’s car burglary was the first hint we had that the Town of Paradise had a serious shortage of police officers.  Seems the department only has 16 officers and 4 sergeants and currently 6 positions are unfilled due to budget constraints, so there’s far, far more crooks on the street now than cops and the crime stats are headed up!

This burglary happened 4 days ago, at 2:20 in the morning.  Typical situation, a couple of punks wearing the black burglar clothes with hoodies and they busted into her locked car and a few others.   My daughters car was  parked right on a main street, under a street light, while she was working a few yards away inside a skilled nursing facility.

She interrupted the burglary when she went outside to retrieve something.   That’s when she spotted the pair dressed in black at her car door.  They took off, but not before they got her cell phone and wallet.  I know….totally stupid to leave such things in the car.  We agree.  But, in her defense she’s also had things stolen inside the various care facilities she visits as a travelling nurse.   (You wouldn’t believe the thieves that work in such places!  Beware.)   In most cases, the facilities do not provide secure lockers for their staff.  So, my daughter is forced to lock her things in her car… out of sight.   She also had a dog in the car, another reason for going outside.  She wanted to check on him.  But, he’s a lovable young Golden lab.  He didn’t even bark when the bad guys started breaking in, in fact he was about to go with them when my daughter walked up.   Typical Golden Retriever…this is one time I wished she had a Pitbull.

Fortunately, we were able to do some detective work and we lucked out and discovered the names of the pair and even where they lived.   (This is a good story in itself, but one that can’t be told here.)   Unfortunately, when she tried to give this hot information to Paradise police detective division she discovered they didn’t really have one, just one poor guy who was buried in far more important cases.   So it was passed along to the patrol officer who took the original report.  This made no sense to me because  there was almost nothing a cop working the midnight shift could do, you can’t go out and knock on doors or make phone calls at 2 a.m.  You can’t call the probation department, parole office, etc.  So here’s a situation where two crooks have been identified and there’s nobody to catch them, isn’t that a fine mess?  A fine financial mess I should add.  It’s not the police department’s faults, nor even the Towne Council, they’ve been caught up in California’s mess.

As of this writing nobody in law enforcement has been able to contacted my daughter with a photo lineup, and to our knowledge the police never been able to find the cell phone by triangulation (common practice), the police were never even able contacted the suspect’s probation officer, and keep in mind these characters are believed responsible for many car breakin’s and narcotic violations (crank mostly).  Not blaming the officers, let’s be clear…this is how bad the manpower situation is!

My son (Stockton police) said he handles car burglary all the time, but short of a signed confessions, this one comes on a silver platter, one that is totally solvable!    Then again, when a little police department is cut to the bone, then the bone is chopped up, even a silver platter case may not get solved.  Think how frustrating this is for us and for the police!  They want to catch crooks, it’s why they are cops, but things are so bad they can barely keep up.

Consider that right now, Paradise has patrol officers doing follow-up normally assigned to detectives and this is real difficult.   First, the hours in patrol don’t line up and they have different priorities.  The patrol officer doesn’t have both the time to suppress crime, check property and work traffic  and also do detective follow-up.  The latter is often delayed and that’s a shame because time is of the essence.   Again, it’s not the officer’s fault, it’s the condition of the local economy and ultimately, if you connect all the dots, it’s traceable right back to elected officials in the highest places of our state government…liberal democrats.

The liberals have misspent, and misprioritized the vast wealth of this extremely rich state at every level you care to examine!   We’ve shown you countless examples of that waste right here.   This is why we have the nation’s highest taxes.  This is why we have excessive regulations, and this is why there is so much waste, fraud and abuse in government.   Because this State is virtually in total control of liberal democrats.  They’re running the show and look at what they’ve done to us!   We’ve got a democrat governor and a democrat senate and democrat assembly, a democrat UC system, and together they have ruined the wealthiest State in the union…that’s not an easy job!  They’ve wreaked financial havoc on counties and cities and chased jobs out of the state until we’re all going under and still they get re-elected.  Go figure?

Paradise is in dire trouble, so is Oroville, Chico, Red Bluff, Marysville, and many more small town police departments caught short because of declining tax revenues coupled to bad City management. Almost all of the cities that have gone bankrupt or are near bankruptcy have been run by liberals…is that any surprise to anyone?

I imagine this current manpower problem must be state-wide involving hundreds of police departments. I think if we really knew the full extent of the problem and who did it to us, we may not be able to contain ourselves.

 Parting shot:

Typical liberal response to the above:  “Well, I don’t want to hear you whine because for the mere addition of $94.60 in taxes a year, you could have your cops on the street!“

My response:  We’ve been doing this raising of taxes over and over, year after year, and that dear friends is exactly how California got to where it is today!  We’ve got the highest taxes in the nation and it’s still not enough!  And if we do this and we come up short in tax money next year, well, we can just raise taxes even more.  And if this results in chasing more businesses away and costs us more jobs, and if our tax revenues continue to shrink, we can RAISE TAXES AGAIN!  AND IF THAT DOESN’T WORK, WE CAN RAISE TAXES AGAIN, AND AGAIN… UNTIL THERE’S NOTHING LEFT TO FREAKING TAKE!!!  And that my dear friends is the democrats plan, never address the spending, never face accountability, only address taxing and grow that government!

I don’t know about you, but I would sooner cash in what little I have left and move to state where liberalism is as despised as much as cancer.  That’s my kind of state.

Dunce Hat Democrat Quote of the Week

by Tina Grazier

NewsBusters Matt Hadrow writes, “Profile in Bias: New CNN Host Chris Cuomo Called America Racist, Asked About Nationalizing the Economy at ABC”, an article containing unbelievable quotes from a politically connected liberal talking head. This one just drives me up a wall:

“We’ve seen government intervene in the banking industry, mortgage industry, insurance, automobiles, chasing down problems after they happen. Wouldn’t it be better to try and get ahead of the next crisis by just, right now, nationalize the whole economy and let government experts take over for failing CEOs?…According to our polls, the public has a lot more confidence in President Obama than these executives we in the media have demonized for the past year, so why wouldn’t it be better for the Obama administration to take everything over?” – Chris Cuomo to liberal New York Times economics columnist Paul Krugman, April 1, 2009, Good Morning America.

This sock puppet for the Obama administration readily admits the media purposely set out to demonize private U.S. executives…private citizens! He thinks Obama should take over all American businesses…the entire economy! He has apparently failed to notice: 1. That under Obama’s leadership more of the American people are on food stamps and in poverty than ever before! 2. That this administration has presided over the longest non-recovery from recession in our history while rubbing elbows and doing favors for the same corporate executives it encourages media to criticize. 3. That this administration has been exposed as a corrupt regime that uses the power of federal public office to suppress conservative votes and limit conservative speech. 4) That this same administration sent thugs to private businesses owned by a conservatives to harass him and remove millions of dollars of legal property while ignoring the same in a liberal owned similar business. 5) That it has used the power behind various departments to harass and threaten US citizens without cause in acts of political tyranny. 6) That America was not formed as a tyrannical dictatorship!

The Democrat Party, as evidenced by its; ardent supporters, has been taken over by radical extremists and has divested itself of every last remnant of the American values and ideals of the founders who believed strongly in the ideal of individual freedom and famously wrote:

“…But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

It is time to remove the representatives of the Democrat Party in our republic that support replacing the ideals of the founders with the ideals of a bunch of old European white guys holding Marxist/fascist/socialist ideals! Oxford Dictionary Review:

Marxism: (noun) the political and economic theories of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, later developed by their followers to form the basis for the theory and practice of communism. Central to Marxist theory is an explanation of social change in terms of economic factors, according to which the means of production provide the economic base, which influences or determines the political and ideological superstructure. Marx and Engels predicted the revolutionary overthrow of capitalism by the proletariat and the eventual attainment of a classless communist society. Famous quote: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”

Fascism: (noun) an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization. The term Fascism was first used of the totalitarian right-wing nationalist regime of Mussolini in Italy (1922-43), and the regimes of the Nazis in Germany and Franco in Spain were also fascist. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach.

Socialist: (noun) a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole; policy or practice based on the political and economic theory of socialism; (in Marxist theory) a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism. The term “socialism” has been used to describe positions as far apart as anarchism, Soviet state communism, and social democracy; however, it necessarily implies an opposition to the untrammeled workings of the economic market. The socialist parties that have arisen in most European countries from the late 19th century have generally tended toward social democracy.

Chris Cuomo, brother of Democrat Andrew Cuomo, Governor, New York and son of Democrat Mario Cuomo, three term governor of New York, was educated in America, folks…AMERICA!

Supreme Court Strikes Down Arizona Provision Requiring Proof of Citizenship

Posted by Tina

AP:

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court says states cannot require would-be voters to prove they are U.S. citizens before using a federal registration system designed to make signing up easier.
The justices voted 7-2 to throw out Arizona’s voter-approved requirement that prospective voters document their U.S. citizenship in order to use a registration form produced under the federal “Motor Voter” voter registration law.

So let me get this straight. Because civil rights groups are concerned that the law “…added an unconstitutional and burdensome layer of paperwork for tens of thousands of citizens” the opportunity for non-citizens to vote will be blown wide open?

How do we square that ruling with the pages of paperwork citizens must fill out to get federal assistance to afford Obamacare…or the hundreds of pages of paperwork it takes to acquire a loan for a new home due to the new Dodd/Frank banking regulations?

And for God’s sake what is wrong with the Supreme Court!

IRS Scandal Stalled – Fired Former IG Has One Explanation

by Tina Grazier

Still holding my breath on when the scandal involving the targeting of conservative individuals and other groups by the IRS will come forward again. Blue is nor my color! I realize other issues have hit the headlines but that’s not no reason for the IRS and other scandals to have stalled. It’s going to be up to the people to keep the pressure on.

A partial answer was provided for me in an article last night by former Inspector General Gerald Walpin who suggests intimidation and fear of reprisal by the Obama administration is likely preventing IRS inspector general J. Russell George to fully investigate IRS cases of corruption and misuse of power. He has apparently conducted an inquiry but not a full blown investigation.

Some of you will remember Gerald Walpin. He was forced out from his position as Inspector General in 2009 over a case involving misuse of funds, a scandal that the administration quickly swept under a rug. Walpin’s story did make headlines on June 17, 2009 when The Wall Street Journal wrote of the “curious case” involving the firing of IG Walpin by the Obama administration. That report included the folowing:

A George W. Bush appointee, Mr. Walpin has since 2007 been the inspector general for the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency that oversees such subsidized volunteer programs as AmeriCorps. In April 2008 the Corporation asked Mr. Walpin to investigate reports of irregularities at St. HOPE, a California nonprofit run by former NBA star and Obama supporter Kevin Johnson. St. HOPE had received an $850,000 AmeriCorps grant, which was supposed to go for three purposes: tutoring for Sacramento-area students; the redevelopment of several buildings; and theater and art programs.

The money was not used for those purposes according to Walpin who was charged with investigating. Jack reported on this story, as did a few other bloggers and right leaning media, but the story failed to get the attention it deserved. It certainly didn’t attract the kind of scrutiny that we are used to when taxpayer money has been misused and civil servants abused under former presidents…where is the left when tax money intended for the children in California is pocketed or misspent by a presidential crony?

Today as even greater revelations of corruption emerge and we are made aware of rampant abuses of power, it’s pretty easy to surmise that the administrative machine in the various departments thought they had been granted permission to, as the President once said, “…punish our enemies” and “reward our friends”. Blame will not reach the top dog without a few turncoats, however. This president, a community organizer of great cunning has said right out loud what he intended to do while holding the power of the presidency, but there will not be a memo found anywhere with his signature or thumbprint on it. Barack Obama is a force who pumps up the activists under him to inspires their creativity and resolve. Those who don’t wish to participate in his shenanigans or fail to be “inspired” are fired.

Mr. Walpin informs us in his article of several other Inspectors General that have been dismissed for daring to do their jobs:

…Amtrak IG Fred Weiderhold, Treasury special IG Neil Barofsky, and International Trade Commission IG Judith Gwynn all left their positions after disputes that weren’t appreciated by the administration, giving more reason for others to go easy with the administration. Further, the president has significantly failed to fill IG vacancies in important agencies (State, Interior, Labor, Homeland Security, and USAID) – well-documented by former IG Joseph Schmitz — demeaning the importance of the IG position.

This administration’s treatment of IGs is not conducive to active, independent, and objective inspectors general, and explains at least in part why key questions about the IRS still have not been asked or investigated.

It seems obvious that Inspector George fears losing his job if he opens an official IRS investigation that requires actually placing people under oath. His reluctance to do his duty leaves the inquiry in limbo and at least for now, the House in charge of furthering the investigation through continued hearings. The other option, depending on Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor, is not likely and would be risky in any case. The appointment of a special prosecutor would mean that the public would be kept in the dark for years as the investigation dragged on without resolution. What’s left is the ire of the American people. We are charged with making our concerns and anger known to our congressmen and representatives.

Find contact information for Congress members at this site.

If you own a small business you might want to contact them through NFIB.

I hope this reminder of Mr. Walpin’s experience of intimidation, and the knowledge that the Inspector General spot for several departments have been left vacant, will help to further your resolve to get the truth squeezed out in this politically slimy case of IRS intimidation, harassment, and attempted voter suppression (video).

Barack Obama – A Disturbing President

Thanks to Pauline for this find…

Finally, Matt Patterson and Newsweek speak out about Obama. This is timely and tough. As many of you know, Newsweek has a reputation for being extremely liberal. The fact that their editor saw fit to print the following article about Obama and the one that appears in the latest Newsweek, makes this a truly amazing event, and a news story in and of itself. At last, the truth about our President and his agenda are starting to trickle through the “protective wall” built around him by the liberal media.

___________________________

I Too Have Become Disillusioned.

By Matt Patterson ( columnist – opinion writer)

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world’s largest economy, direct the world’s most powerful military, execute the world’s most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama’s pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League, despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a “community organizer;” a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote “present”); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.

He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama’s “spiritual mentor”; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama’s colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberal Dom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme,he was given a pass. Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass – held to a lower standard – because of the color of his skin.

Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) “non-threatening,” all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon – affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don’t care if these minority students fail; liberals aren’t around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self-esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin – that’s affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn’t racism, then nothing is.

And that is what America did to Obama. True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary.

What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks? In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama’s oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people – conservatives included – ought now to be deeply embarrassed.

The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that’s when he has his Teleprompters in front of him; when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth – it’s all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years.(An example is his 2012 campaign speeches which are almost word for word his 2008 speeches)

And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles.Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. Remember, he wanted the job, campaigned for the task. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence.(The other day he actually came out and said no one could have done anything to get our economy and country back on track.) But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?

In short: our president is a small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in the Oval Office.

Situational Awareness – Life or Death

by Jack

manandbusOver thousands of years of our evolution we’ve adapted to our world and become much less aware of our surroundings.  By that I mean, we’ve prioritized what our mind wants to perceive and what we deliberately shut out and ignore.  Our world is pretty safe compared to a 100,000 years ago, so we’ve slacked off our personal awareness and some could arguably say, we’ve gone too far.

Mankind in the early years was keenly aware of the dangers around us – we had to be.  So, we gave situational awareness (SA to the military) a top priority.   I imagine that we carefully watched our step back in the day, walking in the jungle, because one misstep could be fatal.   No doubt we were alert to sights, sounds and smells that could threaten our safety much like a wild animal of today.   Of course those who didn’t…. the slower, the less alert, were quickly removed from the gene pool.  Consequently primitive man was more robust, quick witted and alert.  Times have changed and we don’t need those finely honed survival skills.   We’re so much safer now and consequently we have more free time to devote to education, leisure and work and awareness is NOT a priority.

Too many people take personal awareness far too casually, to the point of being oblivious. Case in point: It’s a college campus. A hooded gunman dressed in black clothing carrying a military rifle and a holstered pistol is walking directly toward a 20 year old student, she’s on her cell phone and she’s so focused on the conversation that she shuts out everything beyond three feet. She never saw him coming and more likely she never heard the shot that took her life. (Santa Monica 2013)

A picnic is planned and Bill wants to pick up a 6 pack of beer and soda. He parks his car in front of the store and walks briskly through the glass doors, but to his chagrin he is blown back out the doors by a 12 gauge shotgun.  He walked right into a holdup.  He could have looked inside the store at any time from any number of windows, even from the glass doors, but he was thinking “picnic” and the last thing that was on his mind..literally the last thing.

These are two real world examples of things that happen when you deny your natural instincts, when you are oblivious your surroundings.  There’s thousands more examples that could be listed here, little things that happen every day because people are so oblivious.

Almost every traffic accident, home accident or boating accident is a failure by one of more people to be aware and employ the basic common sense. Ironically, we’ve allowed ourselves to become oblivious people thanks to previous successes in the area of society-wide safety.

On 9-11 people were often saying, we never saw it coming! Four planes hijacked and flown into building, who could have anticipated that one? Nobody….well, except for a few thousand people working in the military and for government law enforcement and intelligence agencies, not to mention the entire Association of Flight Attendants, the AFA. They had long lobbied for secure cockpit doors to be kept locked during flight. Why flight attendants and not the pilots? Good question. I can only think that was because flight attendants deal more directly with the public and their situational awareness was more keenly attuned because of that. Pilots rarely interact with the public and it’s likely their guard was down – at least compared to the AFA folks.

We spend billions on personal security and billions more for government to prevent or detect criminal activity.  However, when risks are discovered and brought to the attention of the government bosses the typical reaction is denial.  Wonder why?  From my own experience the prevailing mindset is, “Don’t you ever be the first one on the block to cry wolf, you might look bad!”   And if it also involves spending a lot of money, those same supervisors will play the devil’s advocate better than the Devil himself and they’ll always find rational ways not to do anything.

The airline industries answer to the AFA’s concerns was to say it was extremely expensive to change out cockpit doors and such an expenditure could not be justified. Well, it was justified, but only after 9-11 and we had 3000 dead victims.

Speaking of 9-11, the pilots for Flight 93 on 9-11 were real oblivious guys. They were listening to some of the radio chatter about the hijackings but did nothing proactive for their security.   The wife of the co-pilot, an airline employ, was so worried about a possible hijacking she sent an ACARS message to her husband, (a digital message, equivalent to an email) that said, “”Beware any cockpit intrusion—two a/c [aircraft] hit World Trade Center”.  That’s a pretty blunt warning!  “Beware of cockpit intrustions…”   How can a warning be anymore direct?   Anyway, these two professionals continued their chit chat and did not rush to secure the cockpit door.   Why didn’t take that blunt warning seriously?  Perhaps denial because their situational awareness was dulled by years of flying without an incident?  As a result within five minutes both pilots were dead, their jugular veins sliced with box cutters.   Their lackadasical attitude toward pending danger would lead to the deaths of all 44 passengers.   Their plane soon created a smoking hole in the midwest.

Don’t be that oblivious person – we would hate to see you leave the gene pool too early.

Corruption Marks the Democrat Brand…Drip, Drip, Drip…

Posted by Tina

The Washington Post is reporting that Sharyl Attkisson’s computer has been compromised. Atkisson, the CBS reporter who was both methodical and tenacious in her investigations of Fast and Furious, and Benghazi, had complained months ago about the privacy breach. CBS ordered an investigation and announced the results today:

A cyber security firm hired by CBS News has determined through forensic analysis that Sharyl Attkisson’s computer was accessed by an unauthorized, external, unknown party on multiple occasions late in 2012. Evidence suggests this party performed all access remotely using Attkisson’s accounts. While no malicious code was found, forensic analysis revealed an intruder had executed commands that appeared to involve search and exfiltration of data.

This party also used sophisticated methods to remove all possible indications of unauthorized activity, and alter system times to cause further confusion.

CBS News is taking steps to identify the responsible party and their method of access.”

The targeting of White House correspondent James Rosen, as well as the Associated Press, caused a backlash of protest because, as Julian Sanchez of Mother Jones wrote, “…the point is to ensure that government sources are too scared to talk to press without approval.”

It’s called intimidation. It’s the kind of tactic that tyrannical regimes use to maintain absolute control. It’s also the favored tactic that community organizers teach in organizations like the infamous ACORN and the many unions that plague our nation.

Ms Attkisson’s investigations were problematic for the Obama administration. Were her computers compromised in an attempt to intimidate her? CBS is not yet willing to say who compromised her computers but given the evidence of intimidation practiced so far on journalists and political adversaries it’s difficult not to suspect this is another case of corrupt practices by an out of control administration…an administration that has shown little regard for the rule of law and the Constitution…an administration that vowed to “fundamentally transform” America.

Will the American people stand for their free speech rights being ripped to shreds by the Obama regime?
The Daily Caller informs today that the FBI, in its investigations of the IRS/Tea Party scandal, has not interviewed a single one of the targeted Tea Party Groups. This suggests the FBI has no intention of investigating and is simply dragging its feet and waiting for the issue to vanish into the vapors of time.

PJ Media notes the hypocrisy at play here and warns the snooping and meddling by this administration is one thing but also have repercussions that go well beyond our shores. Consider his new CIA appointee:

Some days it looks like Barack Obama is just trolling the whole world. The same man who opposed ousting Saddam Hussein now will arm Islamist rebels in Syria. The same man who railed against Bush for wiretapping terrorists wiretapped all of us.

That same man has now nominated Avril Haines to the number two post in the Central Intelligence Agency. It’s an important job, one you’d think would require some intelligence or military background of some kind.

Fundamental transformation doesn’t require experts or dedication to anything except community organizing to acquire absolute power. This administration is a destroyer. It has created dependency or chaos from the smallest neighborhoods in America to the entire Middle East.

And just think…we get to endure at least three and a half more years of this corruption and the steady drip, drip, drip. If it doesn’t damage the Democrat brand America is lost.
