Government informant was paid $250,000!

Chicago Tribune: The suspected ringleader, Sohiel Omar Kabir, 34, is accused of recruiting co-defendants Ralph Deleon, 23, and Miguel Alejandro Santana Vidriales, 21, who converted to Islam under his influence. Those two are in turn alleged to have enlisted a third man, Arifeen David Gojali, 21.

California Muslims Arrested for Terrorism

LOS ANGELES — Four Southern California men have been charged with plotting to kill Americans overseas and in the United States by joining al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan, federal officials said Monday.

The defendants were arrested for plotting to bomb government facilities and public places after federal authorities uncovered their plans to engage in “violent jihad,” FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.

According to a federal complaint unsealed Monday during their initial appearances, Sohiel Omar Kabir, 34, introduced two other California men to the radical Islamist doctrine of Anwar al-Awlaki, a deceased al-Qaeda leader.

“If I’m gonna do that, I’m gonna take out a whole base. Might as well make it, like, big, ya know..”

Wha… Senator Ted Lieu-D – Raise DMV Fees 300%?

SACRAMENTO (KABC) — Could California license fees be going up? There’s a proposal to triple them. It’s estimated about $5 billion is needed to fix California roads and highways.

In what could be the first test of the Democrats’ new supermajority powers in the Legislature, a group called Transportation California has asked State Senator Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) to introduce legislation to triple the vehicle license fee you pay when you register your car.

They want it to be a constitutional amendment so it will dedicated only to roads, which means voters would still have to approve it.

————————–

PS by Jack

Without the amendment, the State Democrats can do it without your vote. When the voters let the democrats get a 2/3rds majority in the State House there’s no stopping what they can do. They gave the foxes the keys to the hen house.

In reality, I really doubt even liberals will pass a 300% spike in DMV fees, but it’s a safe bet the DMV fees are going up.

Mini-quiz: Which two states are nearly tied when it comes to the highest car taxes?

Life in Southern Israel as Rockets Fly from Gaza

Posted by Tina

Video and Images like those in the video below will not widely shown on CNN or other networks that support the leftist position of peace through appeasement and more often than not blame Israel for the conflict. Neither will images of Israeli soldiers helping Palestinian children to a place of safety act as reminders of the humanity shown to innocent Palestinian people. But you can see the image of soldiers helping children at Powerline; the blog that posted the following video:

People living in the border regions have only a minute to run for a shelter when the sirens begin to wail signaling incoming rockets. It is a stressful way to live; the Israelis have lived this way for decades.

Ronald Reagan believed that Israel and the West could create a defense system that would stop the rockets of aggressor nations. His detractors laughed and derided him for his crazy pie in the sky dream, calling it “star wars”…har-dee har…har.

As it turns out, Reagan’s vision for missile defense proved to be both possible and a life saving defensive tool. Israeli citizens have been kept safer under their “star wars” missile defense system, Iron dome, as 846 rockets were launched from Gaza in the past week:

According to the Israeli Embassy in Washington: “In the last 4 days: 544 rockets fired from Gaza hit Israel + 302 Iron Dome interceptions = 846 rockets fired at us.” The fact that only 302 of 846 rockets were intercepted (36 percent) might indicate that Iron Dome is ineffective. But in fact it is expressly designed to ignore rockets headed for uninhabited areas. Israeli officials say that 90 percent of the attempted interceptions have worked, thus providing critical protection for civilian areas including Tel Aviv, where an Iron Dome battery has just been moved.

At least 35 deaths have occurred in Gaza, including leaders of the terror organization Hamas, as a result of Israels retaliation. Israel has superior power and defense systems. The militants in Gaza are supported by Iran and The Muslim Brotherhood. They have time and an endless supply of their own people to sacrifice for the cause of wiping Israel off the map and establishing a world wide caliphate. Like water wearing on rock the terror aggression continues…there is no peace for anyone when the waring party lacks a basic reverence or respect for human life. Three deaths were reported in Israel; militant rockets reached Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Revenge of the Twinkie Lover

7125-Twinkies.jpg

Hostess Bakeries have closed their doors; an American company with an iconic product is no more.

Hostess Brands began as Interstate Bakeries Corporation in 1930. The business started as a wholesaler providing fresh baked bread wrapped in Gingham to grocery stores. The baked goods business has a long history of acquisitions but most remember it for the Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Ho’s and Sno-Balls that became lunch and snack time favorites during the “Leave it to Beaver” and “Brady Bunch” years. More than a few sentimental sighs could be heard last week as fans scrambled to grocery and convenience stores to snap up the last of the fun time fare.

But hold on…although the company is gone the confections will likely live on. Yes indeedy, boys and girls, the fallen company will sell its secret recipes…you knew that it would.

It turns out a Mexican bakery, Grupo Bimbo, has shown interest in buying the rights to the treats…sweet revenge for the Twinkie lovers of the world. Now before you get all worked up about Americans losing their jobs to cheap Mexican labor you should know that the owners of Grupo Bimbo are said to be billionaires…with a definite sugar advantage over Hostess. Seems the price of sugar is much higher in America due to tariffs…one of the many reasons Hostess found it difficult to compete in the international bakery industry.

The other reasons are, well, pretty obvious. One of the highest corporate tax rates in the world hasn’t helped and most Americans are down on sugar these days. The last three years of healthy lifestyle edicts coming from the White House may have pushed against the bottom line…as has the economy! Let’s face it, the American economy has been stuck in park for some time and new taxes and regulations by busy body lawmakers won’t help and only add to the mix. President Obama says he expects that our energy prices “will necessarily rise” as he ushers in a new era of green energy…a tough break for a company that runs ovens all day long. Top iall of this off with the fact that the American worker is quite often more interested in making his boss a bad guy than in keeping his job and its easy to see why this company couldn’t make it in America. Did you ever think you would hear that said with such finality? I tell ya, there are a number of small business owners who are thinking and feeling just that. Oh well, Hostess isn’t the first and won’t be the last company to fall

So someone will likely make Ding Dongs and Twinkies but we may have to wait awhile before we see these guilty pleasure items back in our stores. I have a suggestion…while you wait just keep chanting…Yo quiero Twinkies! Yo quiero Twinkies!…like a mantra.

Perhaps Grupo Bimbo will answer the call. Let’s hope so, we know most Occupy people hateConAgra ’cause it’s an evil American corporation.

Would a Mexican company buying these recipes represent a measure of sweet revenge? I’m afraid so.

Democrats for Obama Not Welcome

An Arizona gun store has a simple message for Barack Obama voters: you’re not welcome here. The Southwest Shooting Authority in Pinetop, AZ posted a sign on its door and took out a newspaper ad declaring that if you voted for the President last week, you’re not welcome.

I expect we’ll be seeing more of that…

Horology 101

by Jack

This is a follow-up from a previous story on pocket watches last October. Contrary to popular belief, horology is not the study of ho’s. It’s the study of watches, sorry to disappoint.

I’ve always been impressed by the precision put into old pocket watches and that led me to a new hobby, collecting old watches.

You know, for something that had only one narrow function in life (keeping time) there was an amazing amount of technology that went into its delicate construction! It’s incredible to see how precise these things are, especially under intense magnification. The parts are often so small you actually do need a magnifying glass to see them.

The pocket watch, as we know it, began being mass produced in the early part of the 19th century in North America. Prior to that time they were made one at a time by a highly skilled craftsman.

Prop 30 Ripoff – Where’s the Student Anger?

by Jack

What gets me is so few students are connecting the dots on this story. We recently reported that the UC Regents gambled away about $15B on Wall Street and now Prop 30 will go to replace that bad bet. This was the money Gov. Brown told them would keep their tuition cost down and give them back $250 in tuition rebate. They should be outraged over this deception and what those liberal democrats in Sacramento have done to them.

Life on the Cheap!

by Jack

Life on the Cheap. . .

Lesson #64. What to do when your computer goes kaput!

The options here are many, from junking it to taking it to a repair shop, but here’s what I did and if you happen to be mildly capable, this might work for you too.

When my 2.5 year old computer broke down the new Windows 8 operating system software was just coming out. With the advances in hardware and software O/S I figured

7118-gateway-thumb-285x255-7117.jpg

I would be buying a new computer next year anyway, but I still needed a computer right now, so what to do?

Buying on the bloody edge of any new technology has never quite worked out for me in the past, so ruled out buying a new puter right now. I like to wait at least a year after something new and whizzie like Windows 8 has been out. Then most of the bugs have been worked out and those computer reviews are more complete too.

So for the present time I needed something to get me by. What to do?

I went shopping on ebay, but there are several other online places to buy a used computer for cheap, like Amazon or Craigslist. In my case, for a mere $34 I picked up a very solid platform called the E4500 Gateway desktop. It was a turn-in on a lease program for some company. They had a bunch of them and they were going cheap! It came with a hot Pentium 4, 2 gigs of RAM, but no hard drive and no DVD player. No problem. I simply robbed the components from my downed Gateway SX2800. These components are pretty much a universal fit among PC’s of a similar vintage, give or take a few years.

The Story Keeps Growing – Benghazi, Obama, Petraeus

by Jack

Imagine for a moment that you didn’t know a democrat from a ground hog, then you were informed about the Benghazi incident and you were asked to make a judgment call. At the very least you would question the time-line of events and the false information that went with it. That much is a given – it’s a matter of common sense. But, it amazes me how many people (dems) get defensive if questions are asked or they just blithely ASSUME everything they hear coming from the White House is correct, even though President Obama was caught in a deception (the Rose Garden lie). This has led us to a somewhat confusing story about an amateurish cover-up with a major sex scandal thrown at the last minute. Makes one wonder what’s next?

The investigation to date reveals that within the first 24 hours everyone within the intelligence community in Washington knew what we were dealing with and that the White House was going public with the wrong story. The simple answer here is politics…it’s about vying for partisan advantage during the heat of an election…and truth took a backseat.

It was an inconvenient truth that needed suppressing until after Nov. 6th, that’s all. They needed to buy time and this is the same reason the White House sat on the info they had on Gen. Petraeus’ affair. Now it all gets to be sorted in a Congressional hearing. What a bunch of clowns and to think half of America voted for this guy?

Today during the hearing Gen. Petreaus admits there were two stories right from the start. There was the official story and then there was what really happened. The latter is what the Obama Adminstration has been fighting to conceal because it will hold certain bureaucrats accountable, including himself.

The deception and gross mishandling of the attack that took 4 American lives deserves some justice. The people who made the decision not to respond to the pleas from those under attack need to be fired, and possibly impeached if the trail leads to Obama. It sure looks like Obama lied to us and if it comes out he called off the rescue that’s enough for an impeach in my book, but that’s just me. Congress may have another idea. We’ll soon see.

As a side note… did you hear how Gen. Patraeus was able to communicate with his bimbo? lol This part is really clever, in fact it’s a method al Qaeda had used. Petraeus would log into his fake name Gmail account, write an email and save it as a draft. Mrs. Broadwell would then log into that same email account, read the draft, and leave a draft of her own. That way, the two were able to correspond without actually having to send any data from point a to point b.

The Petraeus’ affair began to unravel once Mrs. Broadwell began sending anonymous threatening letters to Mrs. Jill Kelley, a friend of the Petraeus family. Kelley subsequently turned to a friend of hers in the FBI and once they began peeling back a few more layers of the onion, they noticed that Broadwell was also communicating with a private Gmail account that belonged to Petraeus.

This story is far from over, stay tuned.
