Chocolate Thank You Explodes – Woman Injured

“Neighbors on edge after box left at home explodes” – ABC13

Around 6:30pm Friday night, a woman opened a package she’d received at her northwest Houston home weeks ago. The lady’s friends say her face was instantly pelted with nails and tacks. Shrapnel blew so high, it landed on her rooftop. ** “Our neighbor came out, and had blood on her, and she was walking out with her husband,” Turpin said. ** Neighbors who saw the package but didn’t want to appear on camera describe it as a box of chocolates that was left inside a gift bag. One neighbor says there was a card attached that simply read, “Thank you.” It included the woman’s name, but it was misspelled. ** “I can’t believe that anybody would do anything as terrible and tragic to a person like this lady,” neighbor Karen Gennity said. ** Neighbors say the woman often performed random acts of kindness for her neighbors — perhaps one reason she thought this box of chocolates was a thank you in return.

An ABC affiliate also indicated the following posted on The Raw Story

“It wasn’t immediately clear whether the house was targeted, however, Eyewitness News found out the home is owned by an oil company executive,” the ABC affiliate further noted.

I found about 4 references to this story, most in Texas, otherwise, all is quiet on this front. Anybody want to speculate about why it ain’t big news?

Missouri Enacts New Immigration Law

Thanks to Peggy for this article. . .

Few people know that Missouri Governor Matt Blunt signed a bill in 2008 that his office called “some of the strongest legislation in the country to fight illegal immigration.”

According to the governor’s office, House Bill 1549 bars the state from issuing Missouri driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants and imposes criminal penalties to those who assist illegal immigrants in obtaining driver’s licenses. Among other provisions, the legislation also requires verification of legal employment status of every public employee; allows for cancellation of state contracts for contractors if they hire illegal immigrants; and enacts provisions to punish bad acting employers who hire illegal immigrants, according to the press release.

This legislation became effective January 1, 2009.

Not only this happened, but In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment designating English as the Official language of Missouri . Nearly 90% voting in favor! English became the official language for ALL governmental
proceeding in Missouri . It also means no individual has the right to demand
government services in a language OTHER than English.

In 2008 a measure was passed that requires our Highway Patrol and other law
enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person is found to be here illegally. It allows Missouri law enforcement offices to receive training to enforce federal immigration laws. The bill makes it clear that illegal immigrants will NOT have access to taxpayers benefits such as food stamps and health care through Missouri HealthNET.

New Documentary Alleges Voter Fraud

Posted by Tina

Read about the documentary (links included) at Mediaite:

Amidst recent charges that the New Black Panther Party intimidated voters outside a Philadelphia polling place in 2008, a new documentary called We Will Not Be Silenced charges that this was not an isolated incident. The film’s director Gigi Gaston appeared on Fox and Friends this weekend and was introduced by host Alyson Camerota who claimed that “the 2008 primary race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton was rife with stories of voter intimidation and voting violations.” ** The film’s website describes its mission thusly: This documentary is about the disenfranchising of American citizens by the Democratic Party and the Obama Campaign. We the People have made this film. Democrats have sent in their stories from all parts of America. We want to be heard and let the country know how our party has sanctioned the actions of what we feel are Obama Campaign “Chicago Machine” dirty politics. We believe this infamous campaign of “change” from Chicago encouraged and created an army to steal caucus packets, falsify documents, change results, allow unregistered people to vote, scare and intimidate Hillary supporters, stalk them, threaten them, lock them out of their polling places, silence their voices and stop their right to vote, which is, of course, all documented in “We Will Not Be Silenced.”

These charges are very serious and many Democrats are concerned for the future of our country…as we all should be.

A Clever way to Plug the D*%# Hole!

Posted by Tina

Every difficult problem is just another opportunity for discovery or invention and the oil leak in the Gulf is no exception. Kevin Kostner’s seperation machine is one example of American ingenuity. Here’s another one. The following story is about a guy and his son who claim the pipe must be plugged from the inside. They built their model in the garage at home…naturally:

Ocala.com

I was prepared to shoo away Herman Minton, a retired welder and fabricator from Anthony who looked more the part of retiree than welder in his shorts and yellow Guy Harvey T-shirt, with the same I’m-really-not-qualified speech I’d delivered a half dozen times before. ** Except that Minton had a model to show me, and I’m a sucker for show-and-tell. ** There, in a corner of the parking lot, was a massive steel spike awaiting my inspection on the back of a trailer. ** The mechanics behind Minton’s gizmo are really simple, brilliantly so. The spike is lowered to the floor of the Gulf and steered into the pipe. ** Two spring-loaded steel plates midway up the spike swing open once it’s in the pipe shaft. And here’s what makes this idea really clever: The force of the oil gushing up the pipe shaft forces the plates wide open, sealing off the flow of oil beneath. Steel cleats jutting from the top half of the spike like barbs on a war club dig into the walls of the pipe in every direction, keeping the contraption from rocketing back out of the shaft. ** In effect, Minton’s contraption uses the hydraulic force of the oil to operate the sealing mechanism and to wrench the spike permanently into place. ** Minton, who worked for the E-One fire truck manufacturer for 10 years and owned his own welding/fabricating business after that, built the untitled invention with his son, Jeff, in their garage using $5,000 of their own money.

This guy represents the essence of American entrepreneurial genius. Ufortunately, he can’t get anyone in authority to take a serious look at his invention but if he’s smart, and he seems to be, he’ll get a patent and who knows, maybe the next leak will be a lot less dramatic for all of us and a lot less damaging to the environment.

Traditionally, this is how Americans “never let a crisis go to waste”.

God and the Republic

3020-the_bible_and_the_constitution.png

“It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.” – Patrick Henry (May 1765 Speech to the House of Burgesses)

“For my own part, I sincerely esteem it (the Constitution) a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests.” – Alexander Hamilton, 1787 after the Constitutional Convention

“The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.” – John Adams

“(July 4th) ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.” – John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” -John Adams October 11, 1798

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.” – Thomas Jefferson (excerpts are inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial)

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” – James Madison (1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia)

“I verily believe Christianity necessary to the support of civil society. One of the beautiful boasts of our municipal jurisprudence is that Christianity is a part of the Common Law. . . There never has been a period in which the Common Law did not recognize Christianity as lying its foundations.” _ Justice Joseph Story (Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States p. 593)

“The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools.” The US Congress 1782

Light Speed Barrior Broken – Twice!

by Jack Lee

On two disparate levels science says that it is possible to exceed the speed of light. The first inkling this was true came with the big bang theory.

3007-hs-201.jpg

Background: In 1929 Astronomer Edwin Hubble published a scientific paper that proved celestial bodies are moving away from each other. This means the universe as we know it is expanding and oddly the objects closest to the center of the universe are moving more slowly away than objects that are further out. This acceleration continues in an exponential fashion the further out we look.

Hubble’s Law

1. Because galaxies are moving away so quickly, their light waves are stretched out, making them appear redder. He noticed that dimmer objects, thus objects farther away, had a larger redshift. (Picture raisins spreading farther and farther apart in a rising loaf of bread.)
2. Hubble showed that the high redshifts (discovered by Vesto M. Slipher) of distant galaxies showed that the galaxies are speeding away at possibly thousands of miles per second.
3. Hubble showed that the farther away a galaxy was from us, the greater its redshift – the more its light was spread out and thus the faster it was moving.

3006-hubble_law.jpg

Hubble’s Law (see left) states that redshifts increase in proportion to their distance from us in a very simple relationship. Hubble invented a constant, known as Hubble’s Constant, that is equal to the velocity of a receding galaxy divided by the distance to it. Unfortunately, this number is extremely difficult to measure, and is one of the goals of modern astronomy.

At the edge of our universe whole galaxies are moving away from us at the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) and there is now strong and compelling evidence to say that there are objects beyond this visible edge that are moving away at an even faster rate. But, because they are exceeding the speed of light, we may never be able to see them. So much for the theory that matter will disintergrate past the speed of light, a slick 670 616 629 miles per hour.

3019-ufo45.jpg

This is taken from a scientific article titled, Expanding Universe Bends the Rules of Special Relativity by Jasper Palfree “The most well-known rule of Special Relativity states that nothing can travel through space faster than the speed of light. This rule has been verified by physicists time and time again and is now taken to be a scientific fact. There is, however, a loophole in that rule which emerges from the words “through space”. Space itself can stretch, warp and do many strange things without violating this rule. If the space between two galaxies stretches then to each galaxy the other will appear to be moving away at some speed. However, this is not motion in the usual sense of the word.”

Supremacy Clause and Arizona

by Jack Lee

This is a tough look at Arizona’s Immigration law and the foundation for challenge asproposed by the federal government to have it overturned. Take a look at the legal cases, hear the arguments and you be the judge.

The Supremacy Clause has been interpreted to come in effect only when the Federal Government has acted in a given field. In the case of Edgar v. Mite Corporation, 457 U.S. 624 (1982), the Supreme Court ruled that “A state statute is void to the extent that it actually conflicts with a valid Federal statute.”

In effect, this means that a State law will be found to violate the supremacy clause ONLY when either of the following two conditions (or both) exist:

1. Compliance with both the Federal and State laws is impossible.
2. State law is an obstacle to the accomplishment and execution of the federal law.

In the case of California v. ARC America Corp., 490 U.S. 93 (1989), the Supreme Court held that if Congress expressly intended to act in an area, this would trigger the enforcement of the Supremacy Clause, and hence nullify the State action.

The Supreme Court further found in Crosby v. National Foreign Trade Council, 530 U.S. 363 (2000), that even when a State law is not in direct conflict with a Federal law, the State law could still be found unconstitutional under the Supremacy Clause if the “state law is an obstacle to the accomplishment and execution of Congress’s full purposes and objectives.”

Congress need not expressly assert any preemption over State laws either, because (the Supreme Court said) Congress may implicitly assume this preemption under the Constitution.

A Comment Worthy of Page One

by Soaps (A PS reader)

The Arizona law was carefully written by a Constitutional scholar to precisely track the US law. Ultimately, the Supreme Court can no more find it unconstitutional than they could declare the federal laws unconstitutional. The only difference is that it will be enforced, whereas the federal laws are not, due to politics. But, as Jack has pointed out, even in California the local police have the authority to enforce the federal law. They just don’t do it. The lawsuit filed by Obama’s DOJ is a loser. It’s based on the “supremacy clause,” which gives the federal government supreme authority over certain laws. However, it does not give the fed exclusive authority. Any state can also

I’LL NEED TO SEE SOME ID PLEASE…

2999-Arizona70-thumb-450x450-2998.jpg

I’m a “Legal American Citizen”, and I must show my ID, when:

1. Pulled over by the police.
2. Making purchases on my department store credit card.
3. When I show up for a doctor’s appointment.
4. When filling out a credit card or loan application.
5. When applying for or renewing a driver’s license or passport.
6. When applying for any kind of insurance.
7. When filling out college applications.
8. When donating blood.
9. When obtaining certain prescription drugs.
10. When making some debit purchases, especially if I’m out of state.
11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.

I’m sure there are more instances, but the point is, that we citizens of the USA, are required to prove who we are nearly every day! So, why should people in this country illegally, be exempt!!!!! (NO ONE SHOULD BE EXEMPT)
