Explore Chico for $3.75?

by Jack Lee

Got an afternoon with nothing to do? Then how about a chauffeured tour of Chico for just $3.75 and perhaps throw in lunch for another $1.50? That’s what it cost me today. It was raining and not much going on so I parked downtown and walked over to the municipal bus station (aka the B Line) at 2nd and Salem. I bought a day pass that entitled me to ride the buses wherever they go for the whole day.

Who Is the Most Corrupt in Washington?

by Jack Lee

The title for this expose’ is, Who Is the Most Corrupt in Washington, but it could have been
“Why We Have a Tea Party”. The Tea Party patriots are fed up with corrupt fiscal practices and they are growing into a force for change. (See the T.P. notice below)

Note: 30% of the top most corrupt are from California, more than any other state. Now without keeping you in further suspense, the 15 most corrupt politicians in Washington according to the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, are and in no particular order:

  • Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA)
  • Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL)
  • Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL)
  • Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA)
  • Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA)
  • Sen. John Ensign (R-NV)
  • Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL)
  • Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA)
  • Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
  • Rep. Alan B. Mollohan (D-WV)
  • Rep. John P. Murtha (deceased) (D-PA)
  • Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-NY)
  • Rep. Laura Richardson (D-CA)
  • Rep. Pete Visclosky (D-IN)
  • Rep. Don Young (R-AK)

For example, Representative Jerry Lewis (R-CA) is a sixteen-term member of Congress, representing the 41st district of California. Currently the ranking member of the Appropriations Committee, his ethics issues stem primarily from the misuse of his position as chairman of the committee to steer hundreds of millions of dollars in earmarks to family and friends in direct exchange for contributions to his campaign committee and political action committee. Rep. Lewis was included in CREW’s 2006, 2007, and 2008 reports on congressional corruption.

Rep. Lewis has a close relationship with lobbyist and former Congressman Bill Lowery, and his lobbying firm, formerly known as Copeland Lowery Jacquez Denton & White (“Copeland Lowery”). As then-chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Rep. Lewis approved hundreds of millions of dollars in federal projects for Mr. Lowery’s clients. In exchange, Mr. Lowery, his partners and their spouses contributed $480,000 to Rep. Lewis’ campaign committee and Future Leaders PAC between 2000 and 2005, often giving the maximum contribution allowed under law.

“Slaughter Solution” to Health Care Bill?

Posted by Tina

The House has come up with a new plan for passing health care legislation…just pretend it was voted on. What a complete crock!

“House Democrats looking at ‘Slaughter Solution’ to pass Obamacare without a vote on Senate bill UPDATED!” by: Mark Tapscott – Washington Examiner

Would House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow House Democratic leaders try to cram the Senate version of Obamacare through the House without actually having a recorded vote on the bill? ** Not only is the answer yes, they would, they have figured out a way to do it, according to National Journal’s Congress Daily:
“House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday. ** “Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version. ** “Slaughter has not taken the plan to Speaker Pelosi as Democrats await CBO scores on the corrections bill. ‘Once the CBO gives us the score, we’ll spring right on it,’ she said.”
Each bill that comes before the House for a vote on final passage must be given a rule that determines things like whether the minority would be able to offer amendments to it from the floor. ** In the Slaughter Solution, the rule would declare that the House “deems” the Senate version of Obamacare to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.

These clowns must be removed from power. They have just taken a giant leap into the Fidel Castro/Hugo Chavez world of governance by gimmicks, tricks and tyranny.

Remember Obama’s Pledge for Transparency?

By Chuck Neubauer

The Obama administration promised increased transparency in government but has rolled back rules proposed by the Bush administration that expanded the financial disclosure statements required of labor unions and their leaders.

Since President Obama took office, the Labor Department has rescinded or delayed three sets of rules proposed by the George W. Bush administration that would have required unions and their leaders to more specifically detail their finances, according to a review of records by The Washington Times.

A Conversation With a Bill Collector

by Jack Lee

When I got home today I found among other things in my jammed full mail box, a bill. It was from North State Radiology Medical Group. I could see through the envelope’s window the inside correspondence was in pink. Pink is never a good sign, it’s the bill collectors way of telling you they are getting serious.

I opened the letter and sure enough, it was a nasty-gram labeled “Final Notice” in large bold type in two different locations and there was a stern warning also in bold print, “If payment is not received with ten (10) business days your account may be placed for collection without further involvement by North State Radiology Medical Group. Then it went on to say how my credit was going to be adversely affected, yadda, yadda. But, you know the kind of letters creditors send out, they can get really nasty and when you get one that you don’t deserve. . . you have a right to be angry. And I’m angry!

Glenn Beck tells listeners to leave Catholicism, Judaism over “social justice”

by K

On his radio show last week, Glenn Beck said the following:

“I’m begging you, your right to religion and freedom to exercise religion and read all of the passages of the Bible as you want to read them and as your church wants to preach them . . . are going to come under the ropes in the next year. If it lasts that long it will be the next year. I beg you, look for the words ‘social justice’ or ‘economic justice’ on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes!”

He later claimed that the phrase “social justice” was a “code word” for communism and Nazism.

The audio can be listened to here.

Of course, social justice is an important part of many churches throughout America, most prominently in the Catholic church and in Judaism. The phrase can be found in the catechism, and on the website for the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

This equates to Beck “begging” all Catholics, Jews, and many Christians to convert to a different religion–while simultaneously warning people that their right to freely exercise their religion is coming under attack by the government!
